I have been b.u.s.y lately. I haven't commented as much as usual lately either. I stop by and scan the RBR goings-on often but there just hasn't been much time for participating. I've been training up for several months to deploy to UAE of all places. And the time to jump is just about here. To call this a "deployment'' feels a little dirty when I think of the men and women that are really doing the heavy work in Afghanistan and Iraq. I am a PATRIOT Missile Engagement Control Operator. So I will just be spending long hours looking at an Atari-like representation of Iran's airspace, hoping they will lob something up so I can shoot it down.

There promises to be many boring hours for me over the next year. I hope to be able to follow the Tide via AFN and whatever internet access I can get. I will be relying on you, RBR citizens to keep me clued in.

I have started up a Tumblr page so that I can post up some pics and thoughts during the 130 degree days to pass some time and keep my family and friends up to date. It would be my honor if some of the RBR faithful followed my blog or checked in on it from time to time. I will try to keep it interesting, informative and fun. I would also love it if those of you with Tumblr accounts let me know where to find you so that I could follow you as well.

Okay, I'm through, thanks.

I'm really excited about this kid's future at Bama...though it will probably only be two more seasons.

Schad says it won't be Cignetti. Why are all of Bama's coaches getting passed over? I am beginning to wonder if this is a good thing.

Roll 'Bama Roll Bama Defense Working on Conditioning.

"Everybody's try to get in better condition," Alabama middle linebacker Dont'a Hightower said after Tuesday's practice. "That was one of the things that happened to us last game, especially the defense. ...

LINK

Well, maybe not everyone around RBR is worried   concerned  scared,  looking for more improvement from the Bama D, but it looks like the Bama  D is.  In the article by Don Kausler ,Dont'a Hightower pulls the curtain back for us to see into what they think of themselves.  Now I believe that the defense is good and in The Process of becoming great.  I just want them to get there without having to experience the hard way to mature.

In the article Hightower also addresses the play that put him out for the season vs. Arkansas last year.  He does not blame the injury on a "dirty" block, but instead on his own technique.  He also wants this to be the game he starts to fill the sack column on his stats sheet.

Finally, something to agree with Fat Phil about. Remember those celbrity boxing matches? Can we bring that back for these two? I'd pay to see it and hoope both of them lose consciousness.

Things are starting well for Georgia State and I am glad. Curry was a terrible fit at Bama, as OTS has so well educated us. But I think he is a good guy overall and not a terrible coach...just not a very good one. He is obviously enjoying himself, and I like to see that.

And then there is "THIS":http://atlanta.sbnation.com/2010/9/3/1667268/georgia-states-star-jackson-drew-little. Seems Star Jackson has had the flu, thus missing 4 days of practice this week. Then he was late or missed the bus to the game. So, being suspended from the game, his backup played okay but not great. Then after the game? Curry apparently named Drew Little the starting QB for GA St.

That is disappointing. I was hoping for Star to flourish. I don't know anything about Star as a person, but I always had a good feeling about him...now I wonder. Is this just tough luck, or can Star just not get out of his own way?

HELP: Link/Format Fail. Why can't I get the link in the body of the post to work.

Ely may not survive

I watched the Plant vs. Manatee high school game on ESPN Friday night. Plant has this QB named Phillip Ely ( did you know that he has committed to Alabama?)jk. Anyway, Ely was hurt pretty early in the game. It doesn't look all that serious, it was his ankle. But what concerned me even more was the horrible play of his team's O-line. Manatee has some stud DLs for sure, but Plant was getting absolutely waxed up front on every play. I'm not too sure there will be anything left of Ely by the end of this season to report to Bama. Any chance Bama might offer another QB, or is he the only one Bama plans to bring in for this class?

boydogwarriorbeast

I was channel-flipping and I caught the tail-end of ESPN's Erik Kuselias referring a question he had asked someone. He asked the person for a one-word description of Mark Ingram. The answer.....boydogwarriorbeast. I love the description but I was unable to catch who said it. Did anyone else catch it?

What a shame...but I'm not sure it is possible to root against both teams in the same game anyway.

Roll 'Bama Roll Danny Woodson Jr. Backpedalling

Woodson-leflorejpg-5461284d9dd45226_large_medium

Danny Woodson Jr., son of former the Bama QB (Sr. of course) says that after a recent UA training camp that he is "not sure" he fits into Alabama's system.  This according to TiderInsider.com. Link  Sorry, you'll need a membership to see it.

Woodson is listed as a three-star WR by Scout.com and ranked as the #46 WR nationally. Woodson plays ball at LeFlore HS in Mobile. In 2009 he had 57 receptions for 1,463 yards and 25 touchdowns.  He committed just recently on March 13th.

The story goes that CNS noticed that Jr. had "gained a few pounds."  He was 6'2" and 197 when he committed just three months ago.  He checked into camp weighing 211.  He checked out of camp weighing 207.  Danny says that Saban thought it would be good if he lost a few pounds to improve his acceleration.  He later expressed to Tider Insider via text that he was "second guessing" his commitment to Alabama.

Woodson Jr. was heavily recruited by Auburn prior to his commitment to the Tide in March.  So, if he does change his mind, I expect that is where he will wind up.  Now I'm not sure if these high school recruits are actually changing their mind more lately or if we are all just following it closer than we used to in this break-neck media age, but I think we are all going to have to get used to never counting a chicken before it hatches.  It sounds to me that he may have gotten his feelings hurt just a smudge and I hope he sticks it out and plays for Bama.  But, I don't think we will feel too much of a hurt it he does wind up on the Plains.

On top of that, it looks like he will be eligible immediately. This will make the Nov, 20th game something to talk about.

Looks like we will all have something to talk about next weekend. BELIEVE IT WHEN YOU SEE IT. I might get through this offseason after all.

"If he does his job, you won't notice how valuable he may be on special teams. That makes him a potential X-factor in 2010."

The guys over at Gang Green have bestowed upon Cory Reamer the "X Factor" tag. Go show the love guys.

Eryk Anders says on his Facebook page that he "finally got a cfl contract." Does anyone have any more details on this?

I’d bet that those folks over on the dark side were calling the NCAA every day trying to get a rule change.

Now, they’re working the SEC hard to get AU to give up the ‘open date’ leading up to the Iron Bowl. Ain’t fair, you know? Need a level playing field and all that.

The dark side needs to worry about free text books, money laundering, & boat drinks — and leave Auburn public relations & Auburn football scheduling to Auburn folks.

Roll 'Bama Roll Sunseri Gets an Offer

Alabama might someday have another Sunseri in the football program. This week, Tide head coach Nick Saban extenn official scholarship offer to Tuscaloosa-Northridge linebacker/H-back Vinnie Sunseri, the son of UA outside linebackers coach Sal Susneri.

"Coach Saban called me into his office and we talked one-on-one about how I would fit into their scheme and how I would be able to compete at the level," says the 5-11, 215-pound Sunseri. "Coach Saban offered me during the conversation. He said I could play various positions because of my speed, but he said they're going to recruit me as an H-back.".ama might someday have another Sunseri in the football program. Up close and personal with Auburn's Cam Newton

Wow. Cam Newton loves to talk about one thing and one thing only....Himself.

All are good points in my opinion. I just think the level of the program [read process] is underestimated by most of the prognosticaters. Saban will have these guys playing beyond their years and up to their potential.

What say you?

Curious question for the site managers

I saw that you just passed 4 million visits. Congrats. I have wondered this before so this makes me wonder for sure. How does RollBamaRoll stack up against the other college team sites on SB Nation?
