Halos Heaven Torii on Rome

I'm listening to Torii Hunter on the Jim Rome right now.  I think he might be my favorite Angel at this moment.  He's Mr. Positive and LOVES being an Angel.  He gets knocked on the nose and ready go back out there today.

Thank you Del Ninja!

There's no link yet to the stream, but just go to JimRome.com and you'll find something.

So how is everybody?  I'm good.  Thanks for asking.

"Suddenly, bloggers who cover the Clippers, Kings, Ducks and other local sports teams in Los Angeles aren't just supplementing the coverage that's already out there. They are becoming the only coverage out there for their teams."

From an article about the incredibly shrinking LA media...

Halos Heaven iTunes

I don't know if this has already been posted or not, but I just noticed they had game 7 for the 2002 World Series available or download on iTunes for $1.99.

There are many games available, but this is the only one from 2002. :(

I don't know how to link to iTunes.  I know there is a way but... just search "2002 World Series" and you're good to go.

Bye, bye Giants.

Halos Heaven Games over .500 = lame

So the Angels are 32 games over .500.  Great.  Awesome.  What does that even mean?  It makes no sense.  This is something that has always bothered me, and I'm not even a stat head.

By using the current method of Wins - Losses, we're saying .500 is however many loses a team has and however many more wins they have equals "games over .500".  32 games over .500 would mean .500 for the Angels is 43-43, but they've played 118 games, not 86.

The formula of Wins - Losses is quick an easy, but it really doesn't say much.  We should be dividing that number by 2.  That would give us a truer "games over .500" number.  After 118 games a .500 team would be 59-59.  If the Angels have 75 wins, then would should be 16 games over .500.

(W-L)/2  It just makes sense.

Does anyone really care though?

Halos Heaven Updating the Big A

Was this already posted somewhere?

Good part:
"The design would add new paint and lighting to the halo surrounding the peak of the 230-foot-tall "A" facing the freeway and replace a large electronic reader board with a smaller, full-color LED video screen."

Finally!  That ghetto black and white sign has got to go!

Halos Heaven 2010: All-Star Game in Anaheim?

According to the LA Times, Angel Stadium could be announced as the site for the 2010 All-Star Game.

Angels reportedly in line to play host

I had my chance to go in '89, but my dad's boss gave away mine and my dad's tickets.  Yeah, I have never really forgiven the guy.

Halos Heaven Long Beach Armada...

This is for real!  Taking a page out of Artie's book, the Long Beach Armada changed their name to the "Long Beach Armada of Los Angeles of California of the United States of North America Including Barrow, Alaska."

Halos Heaven Doug Eddings insults David Wells

David Wells and Douchebag Eddings were arguing over a call (which Eddings actually got right for once in his life) and as it heated up Eddings big comeback is...

[insert drumroll]

"You're Fat"

Wow good one Douchebag!  You really got him!  Burn!  Face!

I quote:  "Wells said Eddings rubbed his belly and said, 'You're fat.'"

Nice.

Halos Heaven Frankie's Message to Derek Zumsteg:

"It's easy for a guy sitting at his desk, watching television, to put pictures on the Internet," Rodriguez said, according to the Los Angeles Times. "But I hope he has something better to do than to mess with people. He has no clue what he's writing about. I don't even know who he is."

DZ=loser.  What sucks about all this is the free advertising he's receiving for his book.  They even mentioned the book on ESPN.

Halos Heaven Lottery Tickets

So I've been hearing so much about these new Angels Scratchers at the stadium and from an earlier diary...

I can't seem to find any!  Where are they selling them?  Are they not out yet?

I am a scratcher junkie and mixing my two favorite things together was like a match made in heaven for me.  As you can see I am stalling a bit for that 300 min.

Halos Heaven Freeway World Series?

Anit-Bonds Verducci seems to think so...

"This just in: The Yankees probably won't win this year, either, even if they do have the best team on paper heading into Opening Day. The World Series? It'll be all SoCal -- the Angels over the Dodgers. Why? Because the best team doesn't win any more; teams with young legs do."

Halos Heaven Yanks vs. A's

I know there is a lot of baseball to be played, but before the Tigers came back today, a truely morbid thought entered into my head:

What happens if the Yanks and the A's meet in the next ALCS?  Who do I root for?

I hate the A's, but is there enough distain there to leave me rooting for the Yankees?  Maybe I root for the A's to win only because they have a better shot at loosing the World Series.  This is quite a conundrum...

Halos Heaven Rookie of the Year

Did anyone see this?
Five Up, Five Down!

quote:
3. Rookie of the Year

* AL: Jered Weaver.

Ohh dream weaver,
I believe you can get me through the night,
Ohh dream weaver,
I believe we can reach the morning light.

I feel you, Gary Wright. Choosing from an absolutely loaded group of rookie hurlers, I'm giving the nod to the Angels' right-hander. Weaver may not have the raw stuff of Francisco Liriano or the triple-digit heater of Justin Verlander, but he possesses the mound savvy and control of a seasoned vet.

What do you think his chances are?
