FSU out of top 10, at #12 in the latest AP poll...

Other notables... Gators at #4, South Carolina at #3, LSU at #9, and Georgia also out of top 10 at #14. Clemson dropped 1 spot to #16.

SEC now has, by my count 7 of its 14 teams in the AP top 25.

#1 Bama
#3 South Carolina
#4 Florida
#9 LSU
#14 Georgia
#19 Mississippi State
#22 Texas A&M

It looks like Kyle Parker's Clemson baseball career is over but he will play one more season of Clemson football before heading to the Rockies in the Spring.

The Rockies also drafted N.C. State QB Russell Wilson in June who, according to this article, is "in a competition with Mike Glennon for the starting job, though, after skipping spring drills to focus on baseball".

WVU's Doc Holliday lands Marshall Head Coaching Job -- Heather Dinich says Trickett stays at FSU

WVU's Doc Holliday lands Marshall Head Coaching Job -- Heather Dinich says Trickett stays at FSU

According to Joe Schad, Marshall is hiring West Virginia associate head coach, tight end coach, fullback coach, and recruiting coordinator John "Doc" Holliday. Heather Dinich says that, as a result, Trickett is staying put at FSU.

This move carries implications for the Gator Bowl matchup, adding uncertainty to what FSU will face from WVU as well as possibly adversely affecting WVU's offense.

ESPN reports that Marshall's Defensive Coordinator Rick Minter will coach the Thundering Herd in their bowl game, the December 26th Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl. If Holliday is still at West Virginia through the Gator Bowl his focus is bound to be elsewhere.

Beyond the bowl game, Marshall's hire keeps Wake Forest Defensive Coordinator Brad Lambert in place for the time being so this move has short and long term implications for FSU.

Miami and Florida are afraid to play each other...

Miami and Florida are afraid to play each other...

Not surprising to people in these parts but Florida is trying to keep a real easy schedule going! If they could just drop FSU they would be in heaven and then they could just replace us with FAU on the schedule. It's really funny that Florida gets so much respect and they are afraid of playing Miami (a lowly ACC school, right).

Of course, Florida wants to keep the game at home and I guess it doesn't make sense to pay Miami to play there like other teams they hire to be yearly victims at home, as they might, gasp, actually lose to them! Quick, someone clone Troy so that UF has someone to play.

Of course, it is pretty clear that Miami was much more interested in playing USF than they are in playing UF. I wonder why.
