My Groom's Cake
Just got married this weekend! She's a tiger, but I still love her! Thought you guys would appreciate my cake!
Best QB in the SEC next year?
Ok so here is my random "Its not football season" post.
Who will be the best QB in the SEC next year?
You cant go wrong with returning "proven" starters, Garcia Relf or Aaron Murray. I believe that of this group, Aaron Murray is the only true "week in week out" QB. Seems like he brings the same thing to every game.
There are also a ton of new guys next year. Mettenberger at LSU, whatever Florida will put on the field, McCarron/Simms, Ole boy from Arkansas that played decent against Auburn when Mallet went down. I am not one to buy into hype with QB's. I think until they prove that they can play in the SEC, then all it is is just hype. (Look at Star Jackson). But that being said, what I am hearing down here on the Bayou is that this Mettenberger kid is the real deal (Though I am convinced that most of this is because they cant really remember what real QB play is like.) (But three years of what they have gone through would do that to anyone.
My opinion is,
1. Aaron Murray (Proven talent)
2. Zach Mettenberger (Because of hype)
3. Garcia (Gross)
4. McCarron/Simms (I am hoping I am low-balling them a little)
5. Trotter (only because whatever wizardry Malzahn is up to seems to be gay ("not cool" kind of gay) enough to work)
6. Chris Relf (The fact he plays at Miss St. keeps him lower on the list)
7. Tyler Bray (Couldnt think of where else to put him)
8. Whoever Florida throws out there (The fact he plays at Florida gets him higher on the list)
9. Arkansas QB (The fact I dont know his name is reason enough he is this low)
10/11/12. Kentucky, Ole Miss, Vandy (in descending crappy-betical order)
What do ya'll think? Please correct me where I am mistaken.
He's still a winner in my book.
Tough luck for Greg, but he handled himself very well... As usual. Very proud to be a Bama fan. RTR
My favorite game of the year
And I actually get to go in person! This is actually only my 5th Bama game to go to in person. One bowl game and 4 other LSU-Bama games, including one in the student section during my forgetful time at the university. I will be on the 45 yard line yelling my lungs out for the Crimson Tide. This is always the biggest game for me. Growing up in Louisiana I guess it comes default but this game means the most to me. I dont know if its because of the whiney LSU fans, the constant smell of corndogs I have to live with, or if its because they say their colors are purple and gold when there is absolutely nothing but canary freakin yellow in those jerseys, but something about them, I just hate. I want us to come into Death Valley and light up the scoreboard on what they think is a dominating defense. I want us to dominate their offense so that people will stop saying that Ridley is the best back in the conference. And I want us to intercept Lee and Jefferson at least 4 times so people will only have more QB problems to whine about (I feed on their whining about terrible QB's). We need to make Less Miles out to be the arrogant dousche that he is, and make it to where no time clock issues can really come into consideration because it wasnt ever close enough. This is the ONE game every year that lives with me after its over and we need to dominate!
Thanks for listening to my rant... On a side note. I got the fiance wearin Crimson (she always says it pisses her off that LSU wins close games when they dont deserve to), so I can use all the support to shield her from the corndog smelling, purple and yellow wearing, whiney tigers as I can get. If anyone here will be at the game lemme know where yall will be and we'll try to catch up with yall before the game!
RBR APP?
I, like many of you here, love the site. I visit it many times daily, even when I am at work. I love when there is something new up. No matter what it is, if it has something to do with Alabama sports (mostly football), I will eat it up. The reason I am writing this is to ask Kleph, Todd, or OTS if there is any chance of RBR getting a cell phone app. It would be awesome to get updates to my phone that say, new fan shot, or fan post, etc. Is this something that SBNation would have to do, or can just RBR get someone to do it? I would definitely be willing to pay for something like this.
Sorry for the post with nothing about football. But i was just curious if this was a possibility.
Who are you most excited about?
I think the players i am most excited about coming to Alabama next year would be, Phillip Sims and Jalston Fowler. I know most of you would maybe disagree with the later in this case but I'll tell you why. First I am excited about Sims for very obvious reasons. He is an explosive player with tons of upside. Period. Second I am excited about Jalston Fowler because we are finally recruiting a true lead blocker for our running backs when we decide to go with a power set (80% of the time). After watching his videos, i really think he will make an IMMEDIATE impact on our team. I cant wait to see the highlight reels of him blowing people up at the line of scrimmage!!
There are many more that i am excited about, Millner being up there because of the immediacy of the impact he will have. But those first two are the ones i just CANNOT wait to see on the field.
Who are some of the guys ya'll cannot wait to see?
Possible write up idea for OTS
OTS i wont lie to you when i say i was looking forward to Florida most of the year. Just like the team, i wanted another shot at them, and wanted to be able to send them home crying. Being that i was looking so forward to this game all year, i followed them closely so that i would be well versed in what their team was like, what their tendencies were, who their good players (besides Tebow and Spikes) were.
Well Texas is a team that i havent been paying alot of attention to. Besides the fact that there was no way for sure to know we were going to play them this year, they are also part of the Big 12, and every single game i have watched recently between 2 Big 12 teams has been a snore fest. So needless to say i dont know much about them as a team.
So my question for you is... Besides McCoy and Shipley, who are their play makers, what makes them play makers, who has a chance of doing well against whoever will matchup against them on our team. What are their tendencies as a defense/offense. Strengths/weaknesses.
I am sure you will touch on some of this stuff in your write up the week before the game, so maybe just fill us in on some of their players that are good but we dont know about etc...
Thanks a ton!!
RTR!!
Ok, a little off subject but...
I am very ashamed to announce but i have never been to Bryant Denny. I have never seen Bama play outside of Death Valley in BR (last year, in the student section, wearing Crimson! IT was great)... It is very upsetting i admit. But living in Baton Rouge my whole life makes that tough for me. Being that ALL of my friends are LSU fans, this is generally the biggest rival (for me). So i guess, to make a long story short, I was wondering if anyone knows where i can get 2-4 tickets (Alabama section) for like $150 or less each... It would seriously be the highlight of my life as far as football is concerned! Thanks a ton guys!!
Recruiting help
So i am looking on rivals and scout and i am noticing that we are ranked 5 and 4 respectively on the two... then i started disecting further and noticed that we have a ton of three star guys, which doesnt really bother me, but i go further to notice that most of these three star guys are O-lineman. so this is the question i have... would i be right in assuming that many of the O-lineman would be considered not high talent because it is a position that is really coached up? like, i mean, that they get recruited by CNS and co. with full intentions that they will get alot better?
Then with that assumption, we may end up not having the top class this year, but we got all the "fancy position" players we need to make the class be ranked in the top five, while getting all the O-lineman and D-lineman that CNS and co. will coach up. So tho a few of the 3 star rankings may make the talent not look as good, they are getting the guys they want in there?
So basically, can anyone really expound on whether maybe O-lineman arent quite as "ready" for college ball as, say, a wide receiver or runningback, and that is why they have the three star ratings or is it just because they arent the best lineman out there??
Thanks.
Terrence Cody
His Facebook status says... "Terrence Cody is PLAYIN THIS WEEKEND"... does anyone at all know if there is any truth to that, or is he tryin work his way onto the field when he should be sitting out another week to get to 100%???
