Continuing the bad start to the season for former Tigers...

I know this isn't unexpected news and the topic has already been discussed here, but this is still a good read. It's hard not to feel sorry for the guy.

Just wanted to link this for those who hadn't heard the news yet. The MLB doesn't seem to be very happy with the decision, and I can't say I blame them. Brewers fans have got be pretty happy right now though.

Yesterday, Dombrowski joined Brian Kenny on MLBN's Clubhouse Confidential. He didn't really discuss anything we don't already know, but still worth watching.

This isn't an entirely Tigers based article, but I thought it was an interesting read. They have teams grouped by how much they are influenced by sabermetrics.

Unsurprisingly, the Tigers were listed in the "Old School" category. I found this relevant because I've seen this discussion about how our front office isn't saber-oriented around BYB quite a few times. There seems to be some good teams in the "Old School" grouping and some pretty bad teams in the "Highly Analytical" section.

So -- do we think the Tigers are falling behind by not embracing advanced statistics or do we think we're doing okay without them? Personally, I'd like us to start using them more than we are right now.

On the heels of signing Edwin Jackson, it looks like the Nationals want to unload John Lannan. Personally, I think he'd be a great fit for us in the 5th starter role. Plus he's a lefty with serviceable numbers and decent stuff.

I'm curious what exactly it would take for us to acquire him. What do we think?

If he's actually seeking a 1 year deal instead of a multiple year offer, I think this greatly increases our interest in him. Go bring him back to Motown, DD!

Purely speculation, but the hints in the article make sense to the Mets/Tigers Murphy's rumors yesterday.

They'll receive 2 players for 1 and 1 is a reliever? Dirks + reliever for Murphy would work for me.

And with that, we might be back to just Inge at 3rd. I'll take that trade for Prado or Murphy now please.

Assuming we don't end up trading for Prado, it seems like DD is content with keeping Raburn in what sounds like a similar role to last year.... splitting time at 2B and corner OF.

I'd think Worth would enter the mix if Santiago isn't resigned.

Per MLBTR... looks like Headley may no longer be a viable option. If anything, it will probably take more than we thought if we make an attempt to pry him away from the Padres.
