Interesting... considering he turned down our reported 10 million dollar deal because he reportedly didn't want to play here.

Continuing the bad start to the season for former Tigers...

I know this isn't unexpected news and the topic has already been discussed here, but this is still a good read. It's hard not to feel sorry for the guy.

Just wanted to link this for those who hadn't heard the news yet. The MLB doesn't seem to be very happy with the decision, and I can't say I blame them. Brewers fans have got be pretty happy right now though.

For those who may have missed this or don't have MLBNetwork.

Yesterday, Dombrowski joined Brian Kenny on MLBN's Clubhouse Confidential. He didn't really discuss anything we don't already know, but still worth watching.

This isn't an entirely Tigers based article, but I thought it was an interesting read. They have teams grouped by how much they are influenced by sabermetrics.

Unsurprisingly, the Tigers were listed in the "Old School" category. I found this relevant because I've seen this discussion about how our front office isn't saber-oriented around BYB quite a few times. There seems to be some good teams in the "Old School" grouping and some pretty bad teams in the "Highly Analytical" section.

So -- do we think the Tigers are falling behind by not embracing advanced statistics or do we think we're doing okay without them? Personally, I'd like us to start using them more than we are right now.

On the heels of signing Edwin Jackson, it looks like the Nationals want to unload John Lannan. Personally, I think he'd be a great fit for us in the 5th starter role. Plus he's a lefty with serviceable numbers and decent stuff.

I'm curious what exactly it would take for us to acquire him. What do we think?

If he's actually seeking a 1 year deal instead of a multiple year offer, I think this greatly increases our interest in him. Go bring him back to Motown, DD!

Per MLBTR

Didn't take them long to make a move after learning about Carmona/whatever his name is now.

Bless You Boys My Experience with the Tigers Winter Caravan at WMU

thanks for sharing! --Kurt

Today the Tigers Winter Caravan made a stop at Western Michigan University. The "West Bus" of the caravan included Alex Avila, Rafael Belliard, Duane Below, Joaquin Benoit, Tom Brookens, Casey Crosy, Dan Dickerson, Dave Dombrowski, Brandon Inge, Jeff Jones, Don Kelly, Rick Porcello, Ryan Raburn, Mike Rojas, Dan Schlereth, Clete Thomas, Jacob Turner, Adam Wilk, Danny Worth, and Delmon Young.

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to make my way in behind the scenes in the media and press area before the fan luncheon, so I thought I'd share my experiences with the BYB community.

Per JPM and Ken Rosenthal.

At least this seems to be a little bit more than the speculation from Cardafo. I'd love to add Garza, at the right price... sounds like they'll be asking for a big return though.

I certainly wouldn't mind it. I'm much more open to this than selling the farm for Hanley.

Looks like the Brewers didn't waste much time moving McGehee after signing Ramirez. The price didn't look that high either.

There's another 3B option off the board for us.

Purely speculation, but the hints in the article make sense to the Mets/Tigers Murphy's rumors yesterday.

They'll receive 2 players for 1 and 1 is a reliever? Dirks + reliever for Murphy would work for me.

And with that, we might be back to just Inge at 3rd. I'll take that trade for Prado or Murphy now please.

Figured this was quite relevant to our interests...

Assuming we don't end up trading for Prado, it seems like DD is content with keeping Raburn in what sounds like a similar role to last year.... splitting time at 2B and corner OF.

I'd think Worth would enter the mix if Santiago isn't resigned.

Per MLBTR... looks like Headley may no longer be a viable option. If anything, it will probably take more than we thought if we make an attempt to pry him away from the Padres.

Bumped for relevance. --Rob

Excellent opportunity for my Broncos to play the Tigers in spring training. Should be fun to see!

Pretty cool and crazy to see it laid out in timeline form like that

"Right now," said one AL executive this week, "they're the best team in baseball."

Another great article about our streak, this one from Jayson Stark

"The Tigers can beat the Red Sox. The Tigers can beat the Yankees. Right now, it looks like they can beat just about anyone."

Great article about our boys

Pretty cool article where JV discusses why he thinks he has a shot at 300.

Bless You Boys Any other BYBers going to Opening Day tomorrow?

If so, what are you're plans? Have a certain spot you go to as an Opening Day tradition or just going with the flow?

We plan on heading down pretty early to do some tailgating and maybe jump around to a bar or two.  Usually just go to Cheli's or Hockeytown, but I wouldn't mind checking out some other spots so feel free to suggest some.

The latest weather report I saw doesn't exactly look ideal - about 50, cloudy and a chance of rain pretty much all day... but hey, that's Michigan for ya.  It definitely won't dampen the excitement downtown tomorrow.  I honestly can't wait.  I've missed Comerica and live Tigers baseball all winter long!

Typical Henning stuff. Random, baseless speculation.

Check out those projected stats at the end of the article. I'm pretty sure I'm the biggest RR fan out there, but even I would be pleasantly surprised if he could put up numbers like that.

Called this one. He'd be a great addition to the back end of the bullpen to set up for Papa Grande
