"The Top 100 is compiled based on conversations with NFL general managers, personnel directors, pro and college coaches and scouts. This is not a mock draft. Teams will skip around the board on draft day to make selections that fit their needs."

His list was helpful to me last year as I watched the draft--succinct and more on target than mock drafts. Bob Gretz calls Gosselin the "best pro football writer in America."

By the way, Gosselin has Tyson Jackson as the sixth best prospect and has the Chiefs selecting him (in his last mock draft).

In Waters' case, though, I believe the fact he is not practicing is a strong message. The Kansas City Star reported earlier this offseason that Waters wanted to be traded because he got off on the wrong foot with Haley. His absence may be a sign of him trying to force the issue.

I could see a scenario where the Chiefs try to trade Waters -- I think Buffalo could be an option -- for a mid-round draft choice. Whatever happens, Saturday's development shows not all is right in Kansas City.

Matt Cassel is off to a pretty good start with the Kansas City Chiefs this offseason. He's at their headquarters every weekday morning at 7:30, so he can train with the first group of players going through the team's offseason program.

He's also making his teammates see how badly he wants to earn their respect and trust. What Cassel is proving is that he clearly understands how to operate as a young starting quarterback.

"You need to show [your leadership] by example instead of by what you say," Cassel said during a break in the Chiefs' voluntary minicamp on Saturday. "Once you do that, then you can open your mouth a little more."

Thigpen in as throwing tailback/wildcat position?

Tyler Thigpen proved that he can throw and run last year. As most of you undoubtedly remember, he was a running back in high school.

via i.cnn.net

I couldn't find his 40 time, but a look at a highlight reel reveals how quick he can be. We know that Chan Gailey is willing to try creative ideas. What about occasionally sticking Thigpen in as the tailback? The opposing defenses would have to prepare for a lot of different possibilities for the play: a Cassell throw, a Thigpen run, a Thigpen throw, etc. Of course, you don't want to hurt your backup quarterback, but he seems like a tough guy. And, if he got hurt with so few touches than it would prove that their has to be some type of curse on our quarterbacks.

Or, he can be lined up in the wildcat offense [thanks primetime!]...

What do you all think?

A Redskins VP says "Campbell is going to be our quaterback"

"In an item posted at 6:41 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, executive V.P. of football operations Vinny Cerrato told David Elfin of the Washington Times that the Redskins "haven’t talked to anyone" about Cutler, and that "Jason [Campbell] is going to be our quarterback this season."

I suppose Cerrato could be lying in order to avoid a fiasco like Denver is experiencing, but my guess is that Campbell will be their starter this year.

Romeo Crennel?

I thought I remember saying someone say that the Chiefs would almost definitely have their defensive staff finalized by the combine.

If Crennel were to come here, when would be the latest?

And, with silence on the matter, do we have to wait to know that he's NOT until the Chiefs give Gibbs and Pendergast official titles?

Or, how likely is that they come right out and tell us Romeo is out of the picture before Gibbs' and Pendergast's titles are announced?

How will the Super Bowl affect KC's coaching situation?

It stands to reason that the Super Bowl could affect who will coach our boys in red next season. I, like I'm sure many of you, will be interested to see how Haley coaches the Cardinals' offense against the Steelers' defense. My question is what scenarios do you think will help or hurt the case to hire Haley? The game could cause KC fans to be passionate about hiring or not hiring Haley. For the sake of simplicity and comparison, please give two numbers: offensive points scored by the Cardinals that will significantly help Haley's shot and offensive points scored by the Cardinals that will significantly hurt Haley's shot.

Here's my stab at it:

Help: 24 or more

Hurt: 13 or less
