Jacobs is six foot four.
Two hundred and sixty five pounds.
A true Giant.
I can't even think of a linebacker that big.
Try and find me one.
It's not easy.
I remember one time Jacobs told that fat boy Rex Ryan to Shut the f--- up.
Hell, he even told Giselle to shut up.
And he always talked trash on the Cowboys.
Cause f--- the Cowboys.
Jacobs would say that.
I'd agree with him whole-heatedly.

14giants
(graphics8.nytimes.com)

Jacobs would get mad sometimes when we lost.
Real mad.
Throw his helmet into the stands mad.
I imagine I'd probably get that mad.
I'd probably get so mad I'd want to perform the following act to Charles Woodson so I could be happy at the Super Bowl:

I'd wanna make LaRon Landry an interesting talking point at my fancy dinner parties that I drive to in my fancy car:

Jacobs.
An unforgettable Giant.
A two time Super Bowl Champion.
A mother truckin' attitude.
How do you "next man up" that fire?
How do you next man up Brandon Jacobs?

Big Blue View My Last Eli Manning Post

Eli-manning-super-bowl-mvp_medium

I just read a FanPost. It is titled In Defense of Eli: Enough is Enough. It's a great post, you should read it. It's got a lot of truth to it, and quite frankly sounds a lot like something I would write.

It got me thinking though, so I'm writing this post. It’s going to be quite long and personal, so I apologize in advance for that, and I also apologize if I offend anyone.

Big Blue View UPDATE! The Quarterback Club Revealed

UPDATE:  I wanted to reveal the quarterbacks before the new posts knocked it off. Thanks to all who took a stab at it!

Kudos to BigBlue21 for getting an impressive 9/10 correct on his initial guess, and trueblue63 for being the first to get it right.

Final notes added at the bottom.

                         Quarterbacks_medium
How about a game? The following table shows various statistics for the first seven years of the careers of ten quarterbacks who have made there mark in the NFL in some way or another. They are ranked in order of their respective playoff winning percentages. Some of these men are currently playing, some have already retired. All stats were compiled from the very beginning of each quarterbacks career with some exceptions. Winning % (W%), and Playoff Winning % (PW%) are calculated only against games when a start was credited to that quarterback.  With at least one quarterback I chose to add rushing yards to yards column (YDS) and touchdowns to his touchdown column (TD) to make the numbers more level with the rest. Each bold number represents the best stat compared to the other quarterbacks in that column, each italicized number represents the worst. Pro Bowl appearances, and Super Bowl wins during the first seven years of someones career might make it too easy to determine who is who, so I simply added if they had one, and made bold who had the most.

Now, onto the game.

  1. Take a Look at the Table - I just figured out how to do this so please, enjoy my fine work. Allow the numbers to take over your body and mind.
  2. Don't Go Looking Stats Up - Just play the game, it will be interesting to see how this turns out if we can keep it objective. People looking up numbers to see who is who, kind of ruins that.
  3. Who Doesn't Belong? - After reviewing the table, which numbers are standing out to you as awful? Based on these numbers alone, who do you think does not belong on this table?

  4. Who is the Best? - After reviewing the table, and based on these numbers alone, who do you see as the top dog?
  5. Rank Them - Rank the 10 quarterbacks from best to worst.
  6. Who is Who? - Lastly, take a look at the fifteen quarterbacks I've listed below. Which of these fifteen are in this table of ten, and who is who?

    Eli Manning
    Peyton Manning
    Donovan McNabb
    Steve Young
    Philip Rivers
    Drew Brees
    Michael Vick
    Brett Favre
    Tom Brady
    Tony Romo
    Dan Marino
    John Elway
    Ben Roethlisberger
    Warren Moon
    Troy Aikman

  7. What did you come up with? - Share your results in the comment section, and in due time I will reveal the ten quarterbacks.

Big Blue View The Season...It Is Upon Us

                                          B55d6_80984_4fxn2hmrwy33g_al_medium
This Sunday on the 11th day of September in the year 2011, a new season will be born for the New York Football Giants. On that day, and on that day alone will a small glimpse of what the future holds for our beloved football team be unveiled for inquiring minds not only in the local culture, but far across the nation as well. Nothing will be proven with either outcome of course, as a win will undoubtedly go down as nothing more than simply expected against an inferior opponent, while a loss only buries us deeper into the ever growing black hole of negative expectations being dug by the both the local, and national media's propaganda.

Big Blue View Giants Fan Spotlight: tito (eight and oh)

                                        Giantsfans_display_image_medium

Sup guys. BBI wrote a heartfelt post yesterday (which has since been removed, I don't know why) that basically went along the lines of "You're a Giants fan, I'm a Giants fan. Can't we all just get along?" I completely agreed with the sentiment of the post, and it gave me an idea. I'm not going anywhere anytime soon, and those who have a tenure similar (if not longer) than mine are probably in for the long haul as well. Sometimes in this world of internet anonymity  it's easy to give a posters comment a sarcastic response, or a response you might which you wouldn't in an actual conversation. I know my passion for the Giants (and my never-ending positivity) get the better of me sometimes and I'm definitely guilty of this, so I wanted to interview those who have been around for a while. Maybe those with like 1,000 posts or have been around for more than a year, (exceptions can be made I'm not really a stickler but you get the idea).

I did myself first so you could get an idea of what the posts would look like, and I'd like to do the staff next (Ed, Bri, and Mike) if they're willing followed by hopefully everyone on here, especially those I disagree with (UnknownJintsFan I'm looking at you) just to get an idea of the men (and women telcochik) behind the screen names. Obviously, if you like your anonymity you won't have to share your full name or location. I don't know about everyone else, but the reason I come here is not for the stories that you can find on just about every blog, but the community we have here, and the discussions we have in the comment sections. I'm hoping this will give us a bit of a better understanding of each other as Giants fans, and give everyone an opportunity to share how, and why they root for the Giants in detail. So here goes.

Big Blue View The Incredibly Predictable 2011 Giants Season

Yo Eli, I was thinking about writing an awesome Fanpost about the awesomest team in the awesomest professional football league and why there's no doubt they are going to have the most awesome season because it's boring as hell around here, and someone needs to put a little awesome sauce on these ribs. What say you to that?

Bloody Elbow Legalize It.

One of my all-time favorite fighters in Mixed Martial Arts history is BJ Penn.  His willingness to not only fight elite guys at virtually any weight, but perform in those fights at a championship level is one of the most uniquely impressive things in the sport I've ever seen. Today BJ made some very strong comments about steroids, and anything else that could be considered a PED. He used words like "cheating", "crime", and "cancer".  Clearly, he would like to see these things erased from MMA forever. I would like to see them legalized.

Over the Monster Don't Like It...Love It, Because the Faces Show it.

What's up Over the Monster. Long time reader, first time FanPoster here at OTM...I've finally broke though...normally I can just sit back read, and very occasionally comment with great pleasure. Not after last night though. Not after the FanPost I just read.

Two and Nine.

Yup.

It really sucks.

It really, really, really sucks.

I hate that this off-season was filled with the highest expectations I've had since '04, and yet it seems that every morning when I wake up I can't enjoy Mike and Mike, or SportsCenter with my bowl of KIX because I might once again be reminded of the Red Sox recent futility. I just saw the damn game seven hours ago boys. I don't need to be reminded that, as a team, we're hovering around .200 with RISP. I don't need to be reminded that even though John Lester is having his best April to date, he has no wins to show for it. And I for god damn sure don't need to be reminded that some pretty effin' historically horrible teams that started 0, 1, or 2 and whatever didn't make the playoffs. But I understand that you have a job to do, and a lot of America is loving this mounting frustration that comes with every added number to the right side of the W/L column. So shit...I guess I gotta watch Saved By the Bell for now with my breakfast...woe is me.

I'm not down on this team though. For one very simple reason, and it has nothing to do with stats, and everything that has to do with the faces I saw in last nights 6th inning.

Big Blue View New York Giants Propaganda: Draft Edition

Hello Giants Fans. If you've posted here for a while you know I'm an unapologetic homer, and eternal optimist to the fullest extent. I decided it might be a good idea to start a series of FanPosts where I can spew said positivity without the threat of being taken too seriously. If you are some kind of Negative Nancy, or even worse...a Debbie Downer (ew) please don't hesitate to comment on why below.

Just know if you choose to do so you will be responded with complete ignorance to any sort of "reason", and more than likely a flood of unrelated pictures, gifs, and statistics proving why the Giants are the best team on the planet will follow.

Bloody Elbow Don't Sleep on Shields

_uqebm_medium

On Saturday, April 30th, 2011at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada UFC 129 will take place. The main event for what is expected to be a record crowd will have UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre (21-2) defending his title for a sixth time against Jake Shields (26-4-1).  Rush is coming off a five round domination over Josh Koscheck, while Shields earned his number one contender status after a very close split decision against Martin Kampmann at UFC 121. What I find most interesting about this fight is even though on paper this should be the most competitive matchup for GSP since early 2009, most talks surrounding him have been in regards to a Superfight with Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva.

My question: Should Shields be overlooked by the media (and fans alike) the way he has?

I say nay. Furthermore, I do not think it would be shocking in the least if GSP were to lose his title come the last day of April to the former Strikeforce Middleweight Champion. The main reason being: If anyone at 170 has the ability to out-grapple, and control GSP on the ground for 25 minutes, it's Jake Shields.

Poll
Do you feel the MMA media, and fans alike are "Sleeping" on Jake Shields?
Yes.

Big Blue View Is Eli Manning a Gunslinger?

Eli-manning_medium

I wrote an article earlier this week about Eli Manning, and Tom Coughlin being a couple of the key components in bringing the Giants one of their most successful runs in franchise history. What I think most people were interested in though, was that I chose to call Eli a "Gunslinger". I'll admit, I didn't even think twice when I wrote it, as I honestly felt that was a pretty good word to describe the mans style of play. Clearly though, some people disagree with that sentiment. With snow pushing the Giants game back till Monday, I thought it a great opportunity to take a look into what a gunslinger is, and why Eli Manning absolutely should be categorized as one.

Big Blue View Clever Tom, and Easy E

 Eli_manning_tom_coughlin_vwndpv81gnom_medium

With a win against the Washington Redskins Sunday afternoon, the New York Giants are now 8-4 through 12 Weeks of the NFL season.  With that win the Giants have guarenteed a season with at least a .500 record. This would make the sixth straight season the Giants have achieved this mark, the most of any New York Giants team since the merger. If they are able to beat the Minnesota Vikings this weekend, they will be one step closer to making the playoffs for a fifth year in six seasons, which would tie the franchises best mark since 1970.

A lot of players, coaches, and executives work their asses off 365 days out of the year to make these wins possible, and keep this team the perrenial contender they have become, but there are two people who I feel are most responsible for one of the most succesful eras the New York Giants have ever had. They are Tom Coughlin, and Eli Manning
