Pinstripe Alley Clemens in Scranton

Currently on ESPN and ESPNNews. He looks much sharper tonight. 1 hit through 2 innings. Much better control than he showed in Trenton. I am glad he gets another minor league stint. Scranton Stadium looks nice with the grass too.

ESPN/News is just showing the top of the innings. If you want to watch the whole thing it is on MLB.com.

Pinstripe Alley Sun up in the east? Check. Pavano hurt again? Of course!

Torre on WFAN. Pavano has soreness in his forearm and will be skipped tomorrow. Rasner will go instead. So Mussina, Wang and now Pavano not including Karstans. Yay for starting the season in the northeast.

More news. Wang is going to pitch in Tampa tomorrow and again on Thursday. If both of those go well he may rejoin the team.

Pinstripe Alley ...and so it begins...

Pavano struck on foot...may not live to see Monday....

Just kidding on the last part but he is injured again.

Yankees.com

TAMPA, Fla. -- Carl Pavano was hit on the left foot while pitching live batting practice to Yankees players on Saturday.

Pavano, 31, was clipped by a ball batted by infielder Alberto Gonzalez. The right-hander is attempting to make the Yankees' rotation this spring after losing the last 1 1/2 Major League seasons to an assortment of various injuries.

"It feels a little stiff," said Pavano, who later joked about having a bulls-eye on him. "It isn't the first time I got hit down there."

Pinstripe Alley Welcome Back Andy!

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2691380

Many thought Andy Pettitte should have never left New York. It looks like that issue has been rectified.

The left-hander and the Yankees have reached an agreement on a one-year deal that will pay him $16 million in 2007 with a player option for 2008, sources close to the negotiations told ESPN The Magazine's Buster Olney on Friday.

==

Nice. Looking at the market for starters one year for Andy is not a bad deal at all.

Pinstripe Alley Matsuzaka winner announced tonight!

From the Boston Globe:

The assembled Japanese media here at the annual general managers' meetings have been told this morning that the Seibu Lions' board of directors will meet at 8 p.m. Eastern (Tuesday morning in Japan) to mull over the bids submitted by major league teams to earn the negotiating rights to coveted righthander Daisuke Matsuzaka.

In fact, there is word now from the Japanese press that the Lions plan to hold a press conference at 8 p.m. Eastern.

Major league baseball spokesman Patrick Courtney said that MLB would announce the decision as soon as it was made known to them.

I am glad that we will finally know one way or the other.

Haven't seen this directly mentioned but it is important. If you want the chance to purchase playoff tickets from the Yankees via TicketMaster or at the Stadium you have to register at the link below by 5PM EDT today! The Yankees are doing a lottery for the ability to purchase playoff tickets this year and this is the only registration period (for all three rounds).

Pinstripe Alley Yankees move AAA affiliation to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre

This had been rumored for a long time but today it became official. The Yankees new AAA team for at least the next two years is the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons.

Local story:

The Lackawanna County Commissioners announced Thursday that the New York Yankees Triple-A farm team will play at the stadium next season.

On Monday, the Yankees ended their 28-year relationship with Columbus, Ohio, the previous site of their Triple-A team.

Commissioner Robert Cordaro met with Yankee officials Wednesday night in New York to finalize the agreement.

Pinstripe Alley I am famous :)

AP Story

The moment Pete White stepped out of his car and crossed the street toward Mercer County Waterfront Park on Wednesday afternoon, groups of Japanese photographers and reporters rushed toward him, microphones extended, asking questions he only partly understood.

They had spotted his Japanese baseball jersey with the number 55 on the back, and knew White was here for the same reason they were: New York Yankees left fielder Hideki Matsui, one of the biggest baseball stars from Japan, was to make a rehab start with the minor league Trenton Thunder as he works his way back from the broken wrist he injured in May.

In less than 30 minutes, White was interviewed by at least 12 Japanese camera crews, all chronicling Matsui's eventual return to the big leagues.

That's me!

Pinstripe Alley Matsui to rehab in Trenton

NY Post

With his eyes on October, Hideki Matsui will receive a taste of postseason baseball this week when he begins his minor-league rehabilitation at Double-A Trenton.

Matsui, who will report to Trenton tomorrow, is expected to play in the Thunder's playoff opener Wednesday.

The Thunder will play either Portland (Red Sox) or Binghamton (Mets) in the first round.

If seeing Matsui is not enough of a reason to go, top pitching prospect Phil Hughes will get the start Wednesday night for Trenton.

Seats top out at $9 and can be purchased at http://www.trentonthunder.com

I am trying to figure out a way to get down there.

Pinstripe Alley Max Kellerman out on 1050AM

The only real Yankee fan on NY sports radio is off the air. Francessa and Kay always strike me as wine and cheese Yankee fans where as Kellerman would be comfortable sneaking booze into the bleachers and cursing out the opposing RF all day. Kellerman did his final daily show for ESPN Radio tonight. He will fill in for Kay next week but after that his career as a New York sports call in host is likely over. He will have an expanded role with HBO boxing and that bow-tied jackass Tucker Carlson's MSNBC show. He did a couple of try out shows on 92.3 FM last week but I have not heard anything else about that.

I am very sad. Kellerman was the only show I would listen to for baseball. I cannot stand all the Mets hosts on WFAN and none of the other hosts on 1050 really interest me for baseball (Lagreca is great for hockey but his Mets fan-ness makes him harder to deal with for baseball).

Pinstripe Alley Playoff ticket prices

Showing their impeccable sense of timing the Yankees today announced the prices for Post Season tickets.

Prices are up considerably from last season.

Money is due Sept 8, but they usually give you a few days of a grace period to get it done.

If you have a plan that provides you with a random game in each round log into your account on yankees.com to see what games you got.
