An In-Depth Look at Melo's Passing, Revisited

Earlier in the season, I undertook to review data on Carmelo Anthony's passing in an effort to, if not determine his true value as a passer, at the very least add to the discussion. That post can...

Using SportVU Data to Take an In-Depth Look at Melo's Passing

Last year, the NBA installed special cameras called SportVU cameras in a few arenas that allowed the league to measure a ton of new and cool things. They captured data on every facet of the game:...

I Understand JR Smith

JR Smith is, if anything, pretty honest in his post-game self-evaluation: "I don't know what the hell I was doing on defense." — Alan Hahn (@alanhahn) December 2, 2013 When I heard...

Guys! JR's re-signing!

I, for one, am ecstatic about this. Also, HOLY FUCK THAT PINK BACKPACK.

Why Free Agency is the Best Time of Year

Free agency begins in 23 hours and 16 minutes as of when I'm typing this sentence, and I can't freaking wait. It got worrisome for a minute there when my Twitter feed, which is normally flowing...

Chandler leads NBA in offensive efficiency (and other categories)

3

I'm sure some of you know about some of this already, but our very own TyChan leads the NBA in FG%, TS%, eFG%, and ORtg. He's on pace for the best single-season TS% and ORtg in NBA history and could overtake WIlt for the best all-time in the other two categories as well. That shit cray.

Mike Breen with Bill Simmons

+

I know not everyone here is a huge fan of Bill Simmons; however, who doesn't love Mike Breen? It's a half hour of Breen talking Lin, basketball in general, announcing, Clyde, and 'Melo. I thought it was a good listen.

Warriors Waive Ish Smith

Did we know this was official before now? Felt like it was speculation.

If the Knicks keep struggling, the focus will spread from the coaching to the roster, and sources advise not to be surprised if the notion of a possible deal sending Amar'e Stoudemire to Orlando for Howard gains traction. If the Magic opt to convert Howard into a superstar of reasonably comparable stature, they could do a lot worse than selling Stoudemire -- a central Florida native -- to their restless fan base. The biggest issue would be Stoudemire's uninsurable knees, but there is risk involved in every scenario Orlando will be presented with between now and March 15. From the Knicks' standpoint, such an arrangement would break up the ill-fitting offensive combo of Stoudemire and Anthony and allow the versatile Chandler to move to the power forward spot, where he'd be a terror as a weak-side shot blocker and in Stoudemire's spot as the roll man in D'Antoni's pick-and-roll offense. A deeper question exists in whether Madison Square Garden chairman James Dolan would sign off on trading Stoudemire, who was the only star willing to commit to the Knicks and embrace the challenges of New York in July 2010. For the aforementioned reasons, sources say it's plausible but unlikely that the Knicks and Orlando would be able to get any such talks off the ground. For one thing, it makes too much sense.

I found the article interesting in general, but the best part is that one of the sections they cover while talking about every network is "Obligatory Praise for Tyson Chandler" which I found both completely sensible and ridiculous at the same time.

I Hate Idiots

7

The article as a whole doesn't interest me; I posted it here to highlight the Philly writer's response. He alludes to the fact that Reyes could be a problem with respect to clubhouse chemistry. Like the title says, I hate idiots. Does this guy just listen to Dicktorino and Rollins blindly or something, forming no opinions of his own? How could anyone legitimately think Reyes is a problem in the clubhouse?

Another Article About How Good Carlos Beltran Really Is

I wanted to make this a link but for some reason I'm being told the URL is invalid even though I've tested it a bunch. Here it is:...

Young Players on Track to HoF

10

Few things: 1. The article is insider-only, but I have a link to a bunch of screenshots: http://s152.photobucket.com/albums/s197/tkow90/Insider%20Article/ 2. Basic idea is that they're using projected career WAR to assign a percentage chance of reaching the HoF based on similar players who have and haven't made it to the Hall. Not surprisingly, King Felix and Evan Longoria have the best chance. Hanley Ramirez has a better than 50% chance (62) as well, but I think he's a crybaby with a bad attitude who everyone should hate and not vote into the Hall. They also looked at people between 10 and 50 percent, with no surprises showing up. 3. The age cutoff is 27, which undercuts our boys by 1 measly year. I assume this is part of an ESPN conspiracy to avoid giving the Mets any type of credit. If (and only if) Reyes signs with someone else, next year the cutoff will most likely be players up to age 28 as well as players aged 29 with last names starting with the letters A-V or X-Z. Of course, this will also discount Rickie Weeks, which is a travesty.

Nothing has changed on the Howard front, but I wrote a FanPost about it anyway.

Story on NBA.com Dwight Howard intimated that if the Magic don't win a title next year, "then things have to change." The Magic have as good a shot at the title next year as LeBron James does to...

I mean, we knew that already, but the one question "Do you miss the Knicks? They ran their offense around you!" made me laugh.

I Have Faith

After game 1, I was pissed for hours. After this one, I was pissed for just a second.

D-Will was always the consolation.

This doesn't matter anymore, but it was still interesting. I don't want this to spur some 'Melo trade vs. no 'Melo trade debate; what's done is done and it could be a bunch of BS for all we know anyway.

An ode to lost Knicks.

Assuming this trade goes down, we just lost Gallo, Ill Wil, and Felton (and Mozzie and AR). I wanted to make up a quick post thanking them for what they've done.

Uh-oh.

7

If this is true, it might be the first serious threat to the Knicks getting 'Melo (I never thought the Nets were). That, or it'll be used to drive up the price for the Knicks, which is also bad.

The Nuggets are getting ornery.

6

This has probably been talked about, but I wanted to link the story. Think it's possible that the Nuggets always planned to trade him to the Knicks and just didn't want to look like pushovers?
