Opening a spot for Hayhurst, pinch-hitter Brian Myrow was optioned to Triple-A; Myrow had gone 3-for-21 with two walks and a home run. In Triple-A, the 31-year-old controlled the strike zone and compiled a .455 on-base percentage.

But even as Myrow thrived in Triple-A, many scouts rated his bat speed a potential liability against major league pitching. Myrow was among the players the Padres protected on their 40-man roster two years ago. A Single-A pitcher the Padres exposed, Joakim Soria, esteemed by Padres scouts and field personnel, was drafted by the Royals for $50,000 and has become a major league All-Star.

I have never heard about this before, interesting .... and not good. Really depressing and it makes you wonder about our direction sometimes.

Hey, just recently found this blog. Pretty cool stuff for Padres fans. I have a question for those in the know more than me. Does Paul McAnulty have naked pictures of Kevin Towers? Is he not one of the most overmatched major leaguers anyone here has seen? Seriously, why the F... is he still on this team. I don't have any ideas why he would be used as a 4th guy more than Hairston. Below average defense, terrible pinch hittter, you name it. Sorry for the vent. Thanks to those running this blog, keep up the good work...
