Great game, but what can we improve on?

With the bye week coming up, thought we might discuss some of the things we can improve on. Sure we're really clicking, but there are some areas that need some work...

I'll go with settling some of these stupid empassioned penalties. Porter's slap to the back of one of the Jet's head comes to mind as well as some that weren't called (thankfully) like Roman Harper shoving the Jet while getting up after making a great tackle and Lance Moore "accidentally" spiking the ball and coming close, if not actually, hitting the ref.

Feel free to leave some of your concerns!

PS

I realize it sounds like nitpicking, but if we are going to play championship football, even little mistakes can make a huge difference!

Brings up some good points as to why we might go OLB instead of FS or CB... somethings that just didn't occur to me.

Don't know too much about him, but he was a second round pick in 2005 from USC. I Can't hold not knowing him against him because he played on the Lions. At 6'4 310lbs, he could be young starter next to Big Sed and help stop the run.

Saints Reach Agreement to hire Bill Johnson as Defensive Line Coach

The Saints are set to hire Bill Johnson as the new defensive line coach. Per the Times-Pic

The Saints have reached an agreement with Bill Johnson to hire him as their defensive line coach, Saints coach Sean Payton confirmed Saturday.

Johnson comes to the Saints from Denver, where he was the defensive line coach. He has been a highly coveted assistant this offseason, with Green Bay -- another team looking to fill defensive coaching spots -- and others also expressing interest in bringing him in.

I'd just like to thank all @ CSC...

I'd like to thank everyone here @ CSC for being a class act forum for Saints fans. I try to stay out of forums on the internet because usually, they are full of arm chair coaches who know very little of what goes on and know even less about common courtesy.

I've had some recent experiences in a forum site that will remain nameless that made me really appreciate the level of intellect and community expressed on this board. It is so refreshing to come to a Saints forum and not have to force fed race baiting, personal attacks, and high school immaturity. I have since deleted my account with all other Saints forums and will only participate here! (except Predictions because I personally jinx the Saints every time I try to guess the outcome)

I've been a member since it was "Blog N Gold" and I'm glad its grown and will keep growing. Thanks again!

What to do with Mike macKenzie next year?

So our season is over and it has come that time of the year to assess our team. As far as offense goes, we are pretty stacked and other than Coach's love of the pass, we seem set to go. Maybe a power running back would be worth finding...

Our defense on the other hand needs an overhaul. Obviously we need a DC that can get Smith and Grant to play for their paychecks, come up with a gameplan that is not reactive but proactive but I think that Gibbs will probably be around next season. Our secondary  needs work, which is also obvious. But how do we go about it? I think Tracy Porter will be a good, if not great dback, so I have him starting... but I'm not so show one of my favorite players, Mike MacKenzie will be able to pull his weight on his side of the field. Don't get me wrong, MM has been THE ball hawk for the Saints and I would love to see him back at full strength. I just don't think he can.

So that leads us to what to do with him. Assuming that he is able to come back at all, what about having him start as a safety. Roman Harper and Josh Bullocks are terrible and KK was marginally good until he became a Saint, and then things went down hill. I think if we can draft a high quality SS this year and start MM @ Free Saftey and than pick up a FA Corner, we may have something  cooking.

Now I know that it all starts with the front four, but if we can get grant and Smith to play every game like we know they can (or at least close to it), Big Sed in the middle with a healthly DeMario Pressly and Bobby McCray (who with JVilma has been my Defensive Player of the Year for the Saints.) that sounds like a formidable defense, or at least better than we've got now.

Could be living in a dream world, but with the way this season went... I enjoy living in the dream world for a bit longer.

Maybe I'm in dream land...

I was watching ESPN this morning and one of the commentators said that with the Iverson trade, they could see LeBron James going north to Detriot @ the end of the 2010 season. Now why I see that would benifit the Pistons, I don't see the benifit for James. The Pistons just lost (to me at least) a much better guard @ feeding the ball to other players and I think the would be a disservice to James...

I like LeBron James and I know he isn't the best shooter in the world, but I find myself thinking where he would land to benifit has chances @ a world title. I've heard NJ because of the link to Jay Z, but I doubt it because he'd be in the same situation as Cleveland (with the title weight all on his shoulders) but be in a more critical market.

Let me throw out an idea birthed completely out of my overactive imagination! Maybe we can pick him up! Why not? He is good friends with Chris Paul. CP3 is one of the best at running the court and feeding the ball to playmakers. We have plenty of cap room from what I understand. While James Posey certainly is a key cog in our gears, I think we could still use some fire power. I think with Peja, DWest, Tyson Chandeller, CP3, and Posey, LeBron James would take us over the top.

Let me know what you guys think... I know this is just fantasy, but I like to visit that land every once and a while.

James Posey

I've been a member for awhile but this is my first post, hopefully there will be more to come!

I gotta say James Posey came through big tonight. I realize that this only the 2nd game of the season, but Posey showed why we brought him in tonight. Just thought I'd throw my two cents into the pot. Some might sa we gave him too much in the deal, but if we're going to win this year, we will need a strong bench and I think Posey is the key. 2-0 feels good and I'm looking forward to Saturday against Cleveland.

Big Sed might play Sunday!

I was flipping through my Rotoworld widget and I read the Big Sedrick Ellis is not on the injury report. Big Sed has been a huge part of our qb pressure and I think this is the perfect team for Big Sed  to make his return. Because our secondary isn't the past, I think Big Sed stepping up will make a difference. I hope his play will ignite a fire under the asses of Will Smith and Charles Grant.
