Lone Star Ball Blalock Cut

Looks like he's going to try to hook up with another club, and if nothing materializes, he'll be playing some minor league ball for Tampa. A far cry from what he said a few days ago.

How far this guy has fallen. He had such a future. I saw his first MLB hit off Mark Mulder in Oakland. Then the ASG bomg off of Gagne. Then, he had to turn into a freakin' hack.

Bah.

Lone Star Ball Manny Ramirez suspended for PEDs - 50 games

He's blaming it on medication from a doctor:

http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-manny-ramirez8-2009may08,0,6324894.story

Is anyone surprised? He probably tested positive for pot, crack and horse tranquilizers as well.

So, who's going to be the next one outed?

Need more words. Need more words.

Lone Star Ball Jamey and Numbers

I read Jamey's newsletters regularly (and have for a very long time). He's never seemed like a guy who was anti-numbers or really anti-stathead.

But lately, with this whole Mike Young clutchness issue, he's taken a very 'smartass-ey' stance with regard to numbers (including his last update fromt his afternoon).

Does anyone have any insight on what has set him off?

His atitude on this issue is very Hindman-esque.

Lone Star Ball Excellent job by ESPN

Just saw the highlights on ESPNews.

According to Bill Assclown Pidto, I believe, Gabbard hit Richie Sexson.

Then, they showed the replay with tracker, and he just threw out a whole bunch of non-sensical mumbo-jumbo... "...who....what....eh...".

Then he says, 'obviously retaliation for what happened earlier...'

Retards. They should at least TRY to make an effort. Totally and completely embarrassing coverage.

Oh...and the Mariners postgame show is pretty bad as well.

Lone Star Ball Jordan Schafer - 50 game suspension

Jordan Schafer was suspended by the league for an HGH violation. Texas supposedly asked for him as part of the Teixeira trade and got Saltalamacchia instead.

I never had a problem with the deal, even with Johnny Douchebag in AAA to start the season, but this makes things look even better. Imagine the uproar over JD's trade record had he received Schafer rather than Salty:

Lone Star Ball Brandon Inge is mad

Apparently Inge doesn't get why the Tigers chose to bring in Miguel Cabrera as their new 3B, relegating Inge to utility duties.

I understand the concept of pride and having confidence in your abilities, but this is just stupid.

Brandon Inge sucks.

Miguel Cabrera juga beisbol muy, muy bueno.

Case closed.

Lone Star Ball Leyritz Arrested - DUI/Vehicular Homicide

Lone Star Ball OT - Atlanta Falcons

Sorry to hijack the diary thread for a topic as unrelated to the Rangers as the Falcons, but I wanted to find out if anyone here feels that there are fans of any team that have it worse off than Falcons fans.

The latest:

Damn...I sure know how to pick crappy teams to follow.

Lone Star Ball Separated at birth???

Please tell me somebody else has thought this.

In watching today's NYY/Cle matchup, it dawned on me that the 2 people pictured below could be identical twins separated at birth:

Lone Star Ball Rick Ankiel - Cheater?

With all of the warm-fuzzy feelings coming from the Rick Ankiel comeback story, we get this:

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3008363

12-month supply of HGH from a Florida pharmacy in 2004.

Sucks.

Lone Star Ball Someone make sense of this

Listening to KNBR out here in CA, and they just announced that the Giants have traded Matt Morris to:

Get this...Pittsburgh.

For Rajai Davis and a PTBNL.

Can someone tell me what Pitt is going to do with Morris?

Lone Star Ball Milton Bradley DFA'd

Per KNBR 680 out here in California.

Also per the A's site:

http://oakland.athletics.mlb.com/news/press_releases/press_release.jsp?ymd=20070621&content_id=2 040781&vkey=pr_oak&fext=.jsp&c_id=oak

Was this strictly an injury issue? Did the Bradley baggage come in to play? Does JD take a flyer on the guy?

Lone Star Ball NY Post - Teixeira rift with Wash?

This is from an NY Post story on Giambi:

"Before Yankee fans get hot about their team acquiring right-handed hitting first baseman Mark Teixeira from the Rangers, forget it. The Yankees know the Rangers are shopping him due to a rift between Teixeira and first-year manage Ron Washington and don't plan on talking to them.

The Rangers are looking for high-end pitching (Phil Hughes?) and outfield help (Cabrera?) for a player who makes $9 million this year and is eligible for arbitration after the 2008 season."

http://www.nypost.com/seven/06012007/sports/yankees/chasin__with_no_jason_yankees__george_king.htm

I've heard the Heyman rumor about potential issues with Wash, but no names were mentioned.

It's the Post, so take it for what it's worth.

Lone Star Ball Yet another AL West Injury

Looks like Nick Swisher went out with a hammy strain. I've been listening to the game for the last 20 minutes but haven't heard anything else on it:

http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-swisherinjured&prov=ap&type=lgns

This is not the time for the Rangers to be losing to the Semen.

Lone Star Ball Zito: 7 years, $126 million from SF

According to Tim Brown at Yahoo! Sports. that's the deal:

Very, very happy that JD went nowhere near this.

Lone Star Ball Nicest cans ever

You know who has the nicest cans ever?

Bill Parcells.

I tell you, if my wife had cans as nice as the Tuna's, I'd be a happy, happy man.

BTW - My prediction of the Falcons dismantling the Panty-thers came to be, as expected. Panty-thers are not nearly as good as everyone thinks. The Falcons are going to do some damage in '06.

Lone Star Ball Interesting fact on deadline deals for pitching

Here's an interesting tidbit for those who are disappointed with the pitching received at the deadline. From Tom Verducci:

The toughest commodity to find at the trading deadline is a starting pitcher who can win one of the first three games of a postseason series. How hard is it? It hasn't happened since 1995.

Lone Star Ball Padilla arrested, Blalock confused

According to the DMN, Daniels and the Rangers were just informaed today of the fact that Vicente Padilla was arrested for DUI on July 7. Not good.

Also, Blalock says he is confused about his role simply because nobody has said anything to him about it.

2 things:

  1. Blalock should NOT be pissed about the fact that he's going to be sitting against more lefties. His performance against them dictates it.
  2. This is yet another example of Buck's loss of control/respect of the team. If you're going to sit a guy, talk to him about it before discussing it with the press.
I think this team would respond if Buck was out of here.

Lone Star Ball Condoned violence

Tonight is an instance where a serious ass-thrashing on Larry Young and Tom Hallion is completely and totally warranted.

Someone should have rung each of their bells.

I'm expecting some venom in the papers from this team in the morning. If I get PC bullshit, I'm going to be pissed. Somebody on this team needs to stand up and call it like it is.

Sure, this team has sucked with the bat, but even taking that into account, this game is a win without the 2 bogus strike 3 calls and the crap call in the 9th.

Young, Teix, DeRosa...someone call these 2 assclowns out.

Then, drop Hallion with a left hook on your way to the plate on Tuesday.

Or, if you're Laird or Barajas, conveniently miss a Rheinecker fastball so Hallion can take one off of his snatch.

Fuck this.

Lone Star Ball The world is good

KC comes from behind to take down the f'in A's in 10 innings.

The Twins need to learn to beat the Angels, however (in fact, Texas needs to learn it as well).

Regardless, 5 game lead.
