2006/2007/2008 Re-draft

7

Interesting perspective on this redraft. In 2006, Tamba only jumps 4 spots to being #16 In 2007, Bowe jumps 16 spots to #7 In 2008, 4 Chiefs end up going in the 1st round: Charles jumps 68 spots to #5 Flowers jumps 19 spots to #16 Carr jumps 119 spots to #21 Dorsey falls 22 spots to #27 Everything looks great except Branden Albert falling 137 spots to 152. How the hell can you justify a starting LT as equivalent to a 5th round selection?!! Sure, he's not the greatest LT, but he doesn't deserve anywhere near this kind of a drop. Bad analysis on this pick.

NFL.com Media Mock Draft

At the 5:50 mark, Mike Lombardi, the representative choosing for the Kansas City Chiefs #21 pick, drafts..... Danny Watkins, G Baylor??!! Not going to lie, this would piss me off greatly. He might be a great player, but, the value is not quite there at this point. I should also mention that the guy is 26 years old...(will be 27 soon)

2008 Draft Recap

Further proof that Pat Kirwan is a complete moron. Everything that he says from here on out will be garbage to me. No mention of a single Chiefs player in terms of best value in each round. I can name you at least 3: Brandon Flowers Brandon Carr and oh yeah, JAMAAL CHARLES!!! simply put.......what a jackass.

New McShay and Kiper mock drafts (3 Rounds!)

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS MCSHAY 21. Gabe Carimi, OT 55. Kelvin Sheppard, ILB 86. Tandon Doss, WR KIPER 21. Akeem Ayers, OLB 55. Orlando Franklin, OG/OT 86. Greg Salas, WR Can't say I like either mock draft. I can't argue with the 1st round picks, but the rest of the picks are really questionable. No NT in the 1st three rounds! What do you guys think?

Ascending prospects Wilkerson, Taylor could alter first round

+

Great article on the two players I feel most likely will be selected by the Chiefs at #21. Taylor is an obvious one, but Wilkerson is truly the wild card. Most of you will argue that the Chiefs don't need another DE, but I don't think that matters to Pioli. This guy is the real deal. If only the Chiefs had not selected Tyson Jackson in 2008, I say this is a no-brainer.

Kirwan's 2 Round Mock Draft (Best Case Scenario!!!)

18

21. Phil Taylor, NT, Baylor 55. Leonard Hankerson, WR, Miami If you're a Chiefs fan, you have to love these two picks. Best possible scenario, IMO, and great value with the 2nd round pick. I'm sure most of us would not question either pick, but let's look at what is still left at our #55 pick: Quenton Carter, S, Oklahoma Jerrel Jerigan, WR, Troy State Titus Young, WR, Boise State Brooks Reed, OLB, Arizona Stefen Wisniewski, C, Penn State Rodney Hudson, G, Florida State Would you choose any of these players over Hankerson?

Pro Football Focus: Offensive/Defensive Player of Year

1

Offensive Player of the Year: 2. Jamaal Charles, HB, Kansas City Chiefs (+25.9) It wasn’t a surprise to see Charles play so well after his break out at the end of 2009. Scary to think what he could be capable of if given more carries (and there’s nothing to suggest he couldn’t handle the workload). His 6.3 yard per carry is amazing, but it’s almost impressive that almost half of his yards (714) came after contact. Defensive Player of the Year: 4. Tamba Hali, OLB, Kansas City Chiefs (+52.1) As pure pass rushers go, we should all hail Hali. The man is another guy who has just gone about his year victimizing quarterback with a combined 31 sacks and QB hits, which when added to his pressure stats give us 95 QB disruptions on the year. MVP: 8. Jamaal Charles, RB, Kansas City Chiefs (92 points) The case for: What’s a running back got to do to win MVP? Last year, Chris Johnson hit 2,000 yards and barely got a sniff, and this year Charles turns in the best per-carry average since the 60s (6.3!) and will almost surely get no votes. He finished as our No. 1 graded RB (+25.9), and the fact that his time-sharing friend Thomas Jones finished 53rd out of 58 is a pretty compelling argument for Charles. The case against: The Chiefs had an awful lot of top performers this year – Tamba Hali, Brandon Flowers, Matt Cassel – and how valuable can a guy be if he doesn’t even lead his team in carries? - I'm not sure how respected PFF is, but I really enjoy the site and how detailed their analysis is of each player. We have Charles locked up, now we just have to do the same with Hali. Get it done, Pioli!

2010 Next-Level Awards: Speed Rush: Kansas City Chiefs

2

The Kansas City Chiefs’ defense can give all the love to Romeo. Defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel brought about big change in his first season with the team. In 2009, the Chiefs were the second-worst team in the NFL when bringing pass pressure with one or more defensive backs. Kansas City’s opponents' passer rating with secondary pressure was 101.9, worst in the AFC. This season, the Chiefs set the standard in this area, topping the league across the board when blitzing. One reason may be the addition of strong safety Eric Berry, the fifth pick in the 2010 draft. Berry started every game for the Chiefs, picking up four interceptions and 3½ tackles for loss (each led the team by a defensive back). Another reason may be the excellent coverage of cornerback Brandon Carr, who led the NFL with 19 passes defended, as scouted by ESPN Stats & Information. (Gameplan for the Ravens?)
