7 years, 161 million for a pitcher. Terrible.

5 years, 80-91 million. Maybe even worse.

Long term contracts for pitchers seldom work out as pitchers are the most likely of all players to get hurt or become ineffective.

But you know what? Signing CC and AJ are the two BEST moves of recent time. The Yankees are willing to eat four years of CC money and 2 years of AJ money if they win within 3 years. And as a fan, so am I.

This team is Jeter, Alex, Mo and Posada. They aren't getting any younger. Sure we have Joba, Wang, and Cano, but they won't create that "core" quite yet. While the old guard enters the twilight of their careers, never has the necessity to "win now" been so strong. Because in four/five years, it CC breaking down will be the least of your worries--at that time, we'll be waving goodbye to Mariano Rivera, Jorge Posada, and Jeter will most definitely be sapped of whatever skill he has left.

If what it takes for us to win in the next 3 years are two sh*tty contracts, so be it. It's necessary. And we're the mother f*cking Yankees.
