I have entered into a mock draft over on my SB Nation home blog, Pride of Detroit, and have pleasantly been selected to draft for the Seahawks.  Before I get to that, however, you might be wondering who the heck I am as this is my first ever post at the Field Gulls (I have just been approved to do some posting!).

My name is Christopher and I like to party.  I am, obviously, first and foremost a Lions fan and have been for over ten years.  Gives diehard a whole knew meaning, doesn't it?  I live in Michigan, but will soon be moving to Chicago to attend a media arts academy for film and broadcasting.  But enough about me and my boring life, let us get to the point of my post!

I don't know if anyone has seen this yet, but Jahvid Best is apparently launching a new website.  It reminds me of another Lions player who a lot of people here know of his website and how crazy he is.  This is like that, although it seems like Jahvid is going to have some pretty good help with it.

The site hasn't launched exclusively yet, but if you go here, you can sign up before the site launches.  The link also has a cool front page with a count down.  Also the beat is pretty cool.  I've been on the page for nearly 10 minutes just listening and rapping, pretty darn good, with my friend.

TopherClosson goes around the Pride of Detroit website and finds all the rumors, gossip, and romance stories and shares with you.  This includes fights between fellow members of the site and also the love story between some of the members.  Included in the video is a fight between two of the members (dramatic reproduction).  TopherClosson also gives his lengthy, yet detailed, prediction for the NY Giants game.

Week 1 Grade:  Offense

Last night's match-up was against the Chicago Bears.  Here's how the Offense did:  

The offense came out and really, wait a second.  Today's only Saturday.  Why do I already feel like I watched the game?   Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh right, right, right.  I've been so loaded and pumped for the first game of the season I actually dreamt of the full game the other night! 

I suppose you're wondering why I'm still writing huh?  I was going to stop, until I remembered that in my past I actually learned how to become a psychic.  I could actually dream the future if I focused hard enough.  You're all about to get some Topheritis, side affects may include near fact future predictions.  Lucky for you all.  So since I am a psychic, I figure I will just act like in my dream is the real game, because it pretty much will be.  On with the grades I say!!!

Are not part of this post.  I'm sorry but it's time to get a new topic.  Mr. Brian VanOchten.

I don't mean to be, well mean, but something needs to be done about his...  Hai...  I'm not even going to finish it.  If you know about Mr.  VanOchten, you either know what I'm talking about, or you got too much Honolulu Blue Kool-Aid in your retinas.  I like some of his writings, but I cannot, for the life of me, watch any of his videos and remember a word he said after it ends.  I always end up getting distracted and wishing someone would have the Lion Testes to tell him he needs to do something about his hai... Wait!  You already know.

Anyway, the Bears game is rapidly approaching and I am darn excited.  I made a bet with one of my co-workers and bet her TWO hole dollars on the game.  WIN!  This post is just to see if anyone is as distracted with this guys do as me.  Seriously, his picture on MLive scares the living day light out of me.  I can't tell if he's a writer for the site, or some creepy spam that's missing an after picture.

How in the world can he think that how he combs it will look any better than just letting it get some air?!??!  It's ridiculous!  As long as he has that, I cannot take him seriously as a writer.  I'm sorry, I can't.  Anyway.  Do you guys see what I see?  Does it distract you as much as it does I?!!?!?  

Have a great rest of the week.  Can't wait till Sunday.  I'll probably get to watch about 30 minutes of it.  WOO!  Mr.  VanOcthen.......   Well...  Okay...  What ever helps you wake up in the mornings.

OH!   On a more national spectrum.  Tom Brady's haircut is so ugly, I can't believe his sponsors are using his current photos.  It's like a poofy ugly bowl cut.  What was he thinking?

No it is not from kissing a certain smurf either.  So get your mind straight.  I have been quenching my thirst with some Kool-Aid, color Honolulu blue.

Newbie:  TopherClosson, I'm new and don't get what you mean by drinking Kool-Aid.

Me:  Well newbie, it means that I have enjoyed what I've seen and enjoyed the product being put out so much that I go crazy with expectations and go a litle silly.

Newbie:  I love Kool-Aid!     XD

I have to say, I am pretty excited about what I have seen thus far in the preseason.  The defensive line is ripping it like Jack and seem like the biggest strength on defense, once again!  KVB is looking like a mad man on a mission to kill some quarterbacks.  Avril is a speed demon that runs right past the guard. 

Possibly even more impressive than our revamped and recharged defensive line, is our offense as a whole.  Stafford has been getting some time in the pocket and knows what to do with it.  He is spreading the ball all over the field and once they take pressure off of Megatron to try and prevent this, BOOM!  Touchdown! 

Newbie:  Topher, it's only been two games in PRESEASON though.  How do you know they will keep this up.

Me:  You are a Newbie for a reason.  Here.  Drink some of this Kool-Aid, take some Topheroids and shut your face.

Newbie:  Glug glug glugh.  WOOOO GO LIONS!!  *Puts a Topheroid patch on*  Wow!!  I feel very knowledgeable of everything now!  (You know it's true)

Anyway, I am very excited for the season to start and see how the Lions fare against the Bears in week one.  I'll be here with my stained blue lips cheering them on.  Knowing in my heart that my prediction of 9-7 will be achieved. 

Cheers to all my fellow drinkers!  Let's start winning some games again, eh!?

Since a lot of them fill up pretty quick, I've created another Yahoo Fantasy Football league as well.  It's 15 teams, I believe. 

I read that Matthew Stafford was doing pretty well in camp.  Bryant Johnson, not so much.  He's a loser.

I'm watching The Avatar: The Last Air Bender right now.  Almost done with the series! Yee. 75 words, yet? Three more. Got it.

  The post apocalyptic film that tells the story of a hero saving the doomed world.  That story could be true for us.   The quote above is true for our team, the Lions.  Every year we would get some one with so much potential and so much promise, just to have them be wasted and become a player that would not only come short of their hype, but drag the team further down the road to destruction.

It's been nearly 5 years since the Madden franchise has had any sort of competition.  While 2k sports was legitimately competing with it from 2003-2005, Madden bought the license for the right to use NFL's teams, logos, players, etc.  2k did come out with an "All Star" game filled with all the old greats.  It was an okay game, but not enough to come any where near Madden's sales.

Madden has become a monopoly and has done what any other monopoly would or has done.  They started being b1tches.  Their overall product has not changed much from their 2006 product.  Yea there's a few neat things, but they stopped making huge strides like they did when they had to compete with 2k sports.  I find that playing NFL 2k5 is better than Madden 10.  There aren't really any game changing additions.  Nothing that's never been seen before, never been done anymore.  This year things could be different.

 Meaning, what game will we all attend and lose our voices, being the 12th man, helping the team win a game.  The schedule has been out for a while now and we haven't talked a whole lot about what game everyone wants to go to.  It's never too early to plan! Is it? I don't think it is.

I've never gone to a Detroit Lions game ever in my life. I've always wanted to be either had timing issues or never had the funds. This year could be different. I shot an email over to the Lions fan center about getting a group rate.  If we could get a big group, even a little group, of some of the hardcore Lions fans here on this site (Kdawg), it would be one amazing experience.

Watching the game, in person, trying to analyze the rookies and how they're playing, in person. What could be better?  It would be an in person, live action thread.  I was thinking maybe the Jets game because of the Mark Sanchize vs. Matthew Stafford deal.  We could all make arrangements to show up early, do a little tailgating, meeting each other, something of the sort.

Anyway, if anyone is interested or maybe has different ideas, shoot me a comment and we can discuss the possibilities of getting this together. Heck if we did some shouting we could claim a victory for the Lions! How does this look: New York Jets 13 - Detroit Lions' Fans 34. Pretty good huh!? I know.
