assuming Gardner works out?
1. CF Gardner
2. SS Jeter
3. LF Damon
4. 1B Tex
5. DH Matsui
6. C Posada
7.2B Cano
8. RF Swisher/Nady
9. 3B Ransom
They wanted Gardner to hit 9th ahead of Damon...to me Damon seems like the best fit to hit 3rd. I don't like the idea of Matsui hitting 4th. It seem to make sense that Jeter would remain hitting 2nd, but if that makes better sense switch Jeter and Damon in the lineup. If Gardner can get on base, he's def faster than Damon. Kruk had Matsui hitting 4th...just doesn't feel right. He's hit 3rd before though hasn't he? Don't like him there either. If it isn't Tex hitting 4th wouldn't Posada be the logical choice?
Anyone think the Dodgers would take Matsui for Manny :)

Junior?
I wonder how cheap Junior would come? Granted I like Gardner and I think Joe likes him even more...but Griff might be pretty hungry for a ring...who else gives him a better shot than the Yanks to win one in probably his last year in the show? Anyone know what his arm is like in comparison to Melky and Brett? I know the bat isn't even a shadow of what it was, but would he be a calming presence for A-rod (Mariner connection?)? He is at least is a little more intimidating stepping into the box than Brett or Melkish.Yes he's old, but on the cheap isn't he better than Gardner if it seems like everyone is just waiting for Ajax to come of of his cocoon?

2010 HOF - Neyer says Alomar?
What in the world is Neyer talking about when he mentions Roberto "spit heard round the world" Alomar as a sure thing for the HOF in 2010.....ridiculous if you ask me. The man was classless (even if he did later appologize). If he makes it in before Mattingly then the HOF is a worthless honor...and the only honor that will ever matter to a player is getting a number retired...and Mattingly should counsider his number being retired by the Yanks the greatest honor ever. "We" can forgive a spitter and how that degraded the game but not Pete Rose who bet on his own team...to win?

would AJ Burnett be enough
I ask the question because if CC really is not interested in NY is AJ enough? And what if AJ doesn't go for the money either? The rotation is looking thin. I know its early but we're pinning a lot of hopes (and cash) on CC.
Wang, Joba, Hughes, Pettitte, Kennedy is not going to get it done although I've been wrong before.
Wang, AJ, Joba, Hughes, Pettitte maybe? any thoughts
CC, Wang, Joba, Hughes, Pettitte obviously is better than last year
CC, Wang, Joba, AJ, Hughes is there still room for Pettitte I saw yeas because if any one of those guys goes down he's a lot more than a lifeboat.
What are the trades (outside of Peavy) that Cash should make if CC and AJ are a no go for pinstripes? Begging Moose to unretire? Giving Kennedy every 5th day? Who are the Ponsons out there we could get? The radar isn't wide enough if you ask me with only CC, Lowe and AJ right now. I don't think Peavy is gonna come here in a million years. Randy Johnson 2.0 anyone? We could do worse...Ponson.

worse comes to worse but questions abound
If worse comes to worse Bonds and Clemens are avaliable. Perhaps that Bob Eucker guy from the brewers will be avaliable to come out of retirement to back up Posada.....clearly just kidding for all those you take themselves too serious.
We have too many questions and not enough answers that everyone likes. Kinda like Obama and McCain.
Where/Who are the Paul O'Neil and Tino Martinez types?
Who is our catcher of the future?
Who is our short stop of the future? How many years does Jet stay there and where is he going after that? CF? 2B?
Would we be willing to let IPK, the "mexican ganster" and Hughes (provided they stay healthy for an entire year) stink up the place for a year just to get a full season under their belts?
Is Joba the heir apparent for Mo? Or K-rod or who? If it's Joba wouldn't it be better for him to follow the Rivera/Wetteland route?
Is Joba better likely to be a HOF closer or starter? Posada thinks he's closer to a closer...what does he know though he only catches and has the best view of those pitches on earth.
If you had to scrap everyone on the Yankees and rebuild who would play where and what would the line-up look like?

Beltran
So I saw on YES that the Beltran rumor is flying around that the Metropolitans are looking for a 2B...any thoughts on Cano for Beltran?
Personally I like Gardner and the devil is in the details but if we could get him for IPK, Cano and Melky, I'd do it. Yes Ajax hasa future in pinstripes but it's not going to be this coming season and getting a solid hitter in CF takes the pressure off off rushing him to the show...not to mention Beltran would look great in the lineup.
Damon LF
Jeter SS
Arod 3B
Manny DH
Beltran CF
Matsui 1B/RF
Posada C
Nady RF/1B
TBD 2B
CC
Wang
Joba
Hughes
Pettitte
