I am a web designer, avid baseball fan and animal lover.
Although I was alive in 1985, I was too young to really remember and appreciate the last time the Royals were competitive or any good.
I created One Royal Way (http://oneroyalway.com) to combine my passion for designing websites with my life-long love for baseball. My thoughts on the Royals aren't always widely accepted... and I don't care!
At 30 years-old, I am probably a little more "old-school" than most fans my age. I don't care much for all the sabermetric statistics... As a Business major and Poli Sci minor, I know how easy it is to manipulate and create stats to prove your point. I prefer the "eye test." You know, how good is a player or team as you actually see them on the field... Actually playing the game.
As an example, the WAR stat tells us David DeJesus is better than Alex Rodriguez... Um, no thanks! I would rather have a team full of A-rod!
So many fans now-a-days simply ignore what they see with their own eyes, and believe and follow the words of stat-heads to the end... Not me. When I see David DeJesus, I see a player who is above average in the outfield, can get on base, cannot steal bases, cannot drive in runs and cannot score runs.
Next time you watch a game, actually watch it... Put out of your mind everything the stat-geeks say you should be seeing, and actually see it for yourself... You know, the way fans used to watch the game! Even in today's age, it is still okay to draw your own conclusions.
My love for blogging, then led me to create Chiefs Command (http://chiefscommand.com). While I am not nearly as big of a football fan as I am baseball, most American are... I have brought along a big group of friends and Royals bloggers as contributors.
