Expect the Redskins to be hit with more punishment: Bounty Gate
It looks like more details are coming out regarding Greg Williams tenure here with the Redskins with him supposedly offering $15,000 to whoever knocked Brad Johnson out of a 2006 game.
To me, this is probably the tip of the iceberg and we should anticipate hearing many more stories like this in the future. I wish our former players would just stop talking but it is a serious problem that can't be overlooked. I don't know what it is, but Williams must absolutely hate the Vikings cause I don't remember Brad Johnson being much of a play maker in 2006...
But alas, I'm bracing myself for the wrath of Goodell to bend us over like he did the Saints...
Here's the article from PFT regarding the allegations.
"This is a sport that has featured rampant drug use, gambling, player hazing, sex scandals, domestic violence issues, wayward accounting, and taxpayer abuse. And that's just the Cowboys."

Q&A Thread; Let's play 21 Questions!!!
Hey Steelers Fans,
Frequent Hogs Haven visitor here to help answer any questions you have regarding the Redskins, I'll ask some of the other guys to help me out.
Please be respectful, courteous, yadda yadda, NO questions about stormin' Mormon, Sexy Rexy, or how much we miss Fat Al and McNabb.
Only kidding of course.. But seriously, don't piss on us while we're down. We're rebuilding finally and have been moving in the right direction this offseason. We still have a ways to go, (including having a competent QB) but we've got some great pieces and we're optimistic that what we're doing will make us contenders in a few years.

Redskins choose Draft Picks over VJ
Simple article from mosley talking about how the redskins are making good decisions, a la us not going after Jackson and keeping our draft picks.
No need to read it, it was just nice to see that on paper. Now if we could just see it happening.
Williams Questionable, Brandon Banks to be waived
Brandon Banks will be waived to make room for ryan torain on the roster.
10 Things Travis Wants to See Sunday
Who's Travis you ask?
It doesn't fucking matter... Here's ten things I want to see this Sunday night at FedEx, football related and non football related.
Let's get down to business:
- Minimal 'Boys fans. I know we can't completely keep them out, but can we at least make an effort to make it seem like we are the home team? Please no repeats of the Steelers game this year.
- Fedex to be Loud. False starts, false starts, false starts...Make some fucking noise, and don't do it when we're on offense. Scream like a little girl being chased by a white van when we're on defense (probably not the best analogy, but probably the most offensive). But please, simmer down before Rabach snaps the ball.
- Skins fans sticking up for eachother. If you see some cowboys fans heckling skins, don't hesitate to chime in. Stop acting like bitches and make your voice heard.
- Landry welcoming Dez Bryant to the NFL. Knock his fucking head off.
- Establish a run game. I want to see us dominate the line of scrimmage. Preseason we looked weak up front with the initial push and I want to see that change now that game time is here.
- Make opposing fans uncomfortable. I'm not saying throw batteries at them, I'm just saying it is our duty as Redskins to make rival team fans feel unwelcome. Please help me fulfill this.
- Carlos gets an interception. I know this is a stretch, but hey, I'm one of those the glass is half full guys.
- Trent Williams hold his own against Ware. Arguably Ware is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL. I know we'll give him some help, but if Trent can hold his own this Sunday night, that would be saying something.
- Haynseworth on the field making his presence known. Please Al, can you put in your best effort this Sunday night (and maybe even the rest of the season)? We need you, and we don't need another reason for a media shit storm.
- A Wave. I fucking love waves.
Sorry for the language if it offends you.

Haynesworth to Miss Season Opener?
Per Matt Mosley's article:
NFL.com's Jason La Canfora, a former Redskins beat man for The Post, delivered an interesting nugget Wednesday regarding Albert Haynesworth's status for the opener against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 12. Citing an anonymous Skins source, La Canfora reported that Haynesworth is "far from assured" a starting spot against the Cowboys. Then La Canfora took the report to another level:
"Haynesworth could be deactivated for the Redskins' Week 1 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys, the source surmised, as coach Mike Shanahan continues to sort through what has been a troubling offseason with the high-priced defensive lineman," writes La Canfora.
Unless Haynesworth is injured or being punished, I don't see any reason why the Redskins would play him in a preseason game and then turn around and sit him in the first game of the regular season. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I think there's a good possibility Haynesworth comes off the bench against the Cowboys, but it's hard for me to believe he would be inactive for the game.
Could this be a possibility? I really hope not, our depth on the d-line is scary without Haynesworth and I feel like Dallas would run all over us, not to mention we've already been getting run over the entire preseason. Do you think Shanahan would take it this far? I think if Haynesworth continues his attitude since spewing off at the media two preseason games ago there should be no reason for deactivating him week one.
Who knows, hopefully this is just another one of those things that never comes to fruition.
Trent Williams article Washington Examiner
For all the worries we still have on our offensive line: Depth, the entire right side of the line, age, yadda yadda yadda...
I thought I would throw a kool-aid article at you guys about Trent Williams progress in camp.
Enjoy
Redskins Release Depth Chart
Redskins.com just released the Depth Chart which includes some real surprises.
D. Thomas and M. Kelly are on the third team.
R. Torain is ahead of Fast Willie in the third RB spot.
Sift through them for yourselves and I'm sure some things will surprise you, but remember we haven't even played a preseason game yet.
1) Adam Archuleta
The St. Louis Rams took the strong safety from Arizona State in the first round of 2001. Playing in defensive coordinator Lovie Smith's Tampa-2 scheme, Archuleta got the reputation as the next John Lynch. The Redskins, in 2006, paid him as such, giving Archuleta a seven-year, $35 million deal that included $10 million up front. He was benched after eight games, cut after one season and out of football making workout videos two years later.2) Jeff George
Snyder bought the team in '99. He fired GM Charley Casserly the year after the team had traded for quarterback Brad Johnson, who threw for more than 4,000 yards, led the Redskins to their last NFC East title to date and went to the Pro Bowl. Enter Cerrato, who brings in the cancer of all QBs -- George got a four-year, $18 million pact -- to back up Johnson. Yeah, right. Snyder wasn't the first to be enamored with George's magnificent arm or the last to be victimized by his petulance. By midseason, Johnson had been benched for George. By late-season, the Redskins were a mess and coach Norv Turner had been fired. Johnson, by the way, was released the following offseason, signed with Tampa Bay and won a Super Bowl.3) Brandon Lloyd
Though a restricted free agent wide receiver with San Francisco in 2006, the Redskins fell in love with his athleticism and ignored his reputation for being lazy. Washington traded third- and fourth-round picks to the 49ers, then gave Lloyd -- before he'd ever taken an offseason rep -- a $31 million deal with more than $10 million up front. Lloyd started 12 games, caught 23 passes and no touchdowns. The next year, Lloyd caught two passes ... and then was gone.Share 4) Deion Sanders
At 32 years old, Sanders was released by Dallas and was immediately signed -- get this -- to a seven-year, $56 million deal that included a $8 million bonus. Sanders joined that infamous Redskins dog-and-pony free-agent class with George, Bruce Smith (over the hill) and Mark Carrier (never up the hill), and promptly helped define its underachievement. Though Sanders wasn't awful, he may have been the weak link in the Washington secondary that 2000 season. He was cut after one season.5) Jeremiah Trotter
Philadelphia cut its emotional team leader in the offseason of '02, with Washington swooping in and signing its former division rival to a seven-year, $35 million deal that came with $7 million guaranteed. Trotter was a nice name, but not a great fit for what the Redskins were doing defensively, and stunted the development of a young and promising Redskins' prospect -- Snyder always prefers big stars to his own up-and-comers -- by the name of Antonio Pierce. In '03, Trotter suffered a season-ending injury. In '04, he was released, re-signed by Philly and played in the Super Bowl (presumably with a lot of Snyder's money still in his bank account).
Doug Williams GM in the UFL
Doug Williams just became the GM of the new UFL team based in Norfolk, VA. There goes any chance of him being in the Redskin's FO.
Good luck Doug.
Albert's Contract and Dollars
Mike Florio did a piece on why the Redskins won't be seeing any money from his 21 million bonus he received. He has terminology from Albert's contract and then explains.
Here's the link:
and quoted after the jump..
Five down, One to go
Perry Riley has signed his rookie contract, that leaves Trent Williams as the only Redskin's draft pick unsigned.
In Other News...
Terrence Austin has signed which leaves two unsigned draft picks:
Trent Williams
Perry Riley
Trade Rumors and a Big Check
Decent article explaining the trade rumors that were floating around earlier this offseason and how our FO gave Albert the opportunity to skip town if he did so before accepting that big check.
Yet another signing
Article highlights:
Defensive Lineman Darrion Scott
Hasn't played since 2008 when he pleaded guilty to child endangerment.
Quantity over Quality
Redskins sign nose tackle Howard Green
Not a bad move having a healthy guy with experience at the nose tackle position. I don't know anything about him though.
6'2
320 lbs.
31 years of age...
Kedric Golston Signs with Redskins
Terms of the deal were not disclosed but they plan on using him as a nose tackle. He's listed as 6'4 300 lbs.
Campbell Signs Tender
Jason Campbell signed his $3.1 million tender today.
The Perfect Fit
Michael Wilbon's take on the McNabb trade including his thoughts on Jason Campbell. Much more about character than football.
It's a great short read and hope you all enjoy.
McNabb will be wearing Brugandy and Gold in 2010
I'm shocked and have no words for this movement at this time.
T.O. or Brandon Marshall?
Say it ain't so coach, say it ain't so...
I just don't understand why this would even be an option and hope they do the right thing in NOT signing either of them so we can develop our own stars...
Matt Cooke will NOT be Suspended
That's ridiculous...
Randle El and Ryan Clark re-sign with Steelers; So no more "I want Ryan Clark"
ARE goes back to his original team to eventually retire most likely.
As a Landry supporter, hopefully this quiets the people clamoring for Ryan Clark
Redskins Mobile Alerts
Somewhat of a pointless fanpost but I'm doing it anyways.
On Redskins.com, under Fanzone you can sign up for Redskins mobile alerts. Which I did sign up for a few days before Free Agency started. You're supposed to get text messages when something happens and I expected us to do what we did in the past and I wanted to hear about it when it was finalized. But I haven't received a single text from them to this day even though we cut 10 people and signed Artis Hicks. I know they don't send out texts about rumors or who's at Redskin's Park, but I expected to get text messages stating they've made roster moves.
Has anyone else signed up for this? If you have, have you received any texts about anything from them?
Just looking for some information on the mobile alerts...

A must read on the Redskins switch to the 3-4.
Offensive Line Situation - Washington Post Article
Figured I'd share this with everyone. Nothing new but an interesting take as they put it, we need a "face lift" on our O-line.
2010 Uniforms
No new uniforms but a hint at some more throwbacks being used in the 2010 season. Gimmie that curly R...
Key Free Agents: Offensive Lineman
1) Willie Colon (T/Pittsburgh), RFA*: Last year, the Steelers tagged Max Starks as their franchise player, then eventually negotiated a long-term deal to the tune of four years and $26.3 million. Colon is a four-year starter at right tackle and -- some Pittsburgh coaches believe -- maybe the team's best lineman. The franchise number this year is nearly $8.5 million. Unfortunately for Colon, with the uncapped-year rules, he'll probably make around $2.5 million under his tender.
2) Jamaal Brown (T/New Orleans), RFA*: The former first-round draft choice and two-time Pro Bowl selection went on injured reserve (sports hernia) in September and watched an unknown fellow named Jermon Bushrod do the blindside thing for Drew Brees, as the Saints rolled to the Super Bowl. Before that, Brown had started 58 straight games at left tackle, dating to his 2005 rookie season. The Saints, with more than 20 players facing some form of free agency, have some decisions to make.
3) Jahri Evans (G/New Orleans), RFA*: This is not one of those decisions. Evans is one of the best interior lineman in the game, having been voted to his second straight Pro Bowl. His one-year tender will be in the $3 million range, but the Saints need not mess around -- lock him up long term.
4) Marcus McNeill (T/San Diego), RFA*: Two years ago, McNeill was close to signing a nice contract extension, but talks broke off after he injured his neck. The Chargers should know they were fortunate to find a franchise-type left tackle in the second round of the '06 draft.
5) Chad Clifton (T/Green Bay), UFA: He had Brett Favre's back for eight years and has done the same for Aaron Rodgers the last two. Clifton is not the lock-down force he was in his 20s -- he's 33 now -- but if the Packers don't want to re-sign him (they might have another option with backup T.J. Lang, a promising rookie last season), someone will.
6) Logan Mankins (G/New England), RFA*: Two-time Pro Bowler not only has been terrific since being selected with the final choice in Round 1 in '05, he's been durable. Mankins has started every game during those five seasons.
