I remember seeing a funny youtube video about George W. Bush and believe that we may be seeing some similar signs in Nellie. Please review and add some thoughts of your own. Remember he is 68 years old!

10 warning signs of Alzheimer's:

1. Memory loss.

NELSON: We're the worst defensive team in the league, anyway.

Q: That's not true, you've said so yourself.

NELSON: I understand.

2. Difficulty performing familiar tasks.

Designing a play in which his team in-bounds the ball - coming out of a T.O.

3. Problems with language.

Nellie quote: "Brandan is ready to play more. So I'm going to play him, and I hope I'm not breaking my word... And as I said before the game, Brandan is ready. I've held him back a few games where he probably should have played, but I think it's to the point now where he needs to grow into his position "

4. Disorientation to time and place.

Nellie quote: "We would play a team that's one hour away 300 miles away from home. That would be fun."

5. Poor or decreased judgment.

Continually playing small ball despite a roster that is increasingly unsuccessful at it.

6. Problems with abstract thinking.

The idea of a substitution pattern or changing coaching philosophies??

7. Misplacing things.

How about Wright, Randolph and Belinelli - just to name a few.

8. Changes in mood or behavior.

Last year after a loss to Minnesota Nelson went from angry to disappointed all in the same breath.

"I'll be a little careful what I say because I'm angry. I'm disappointed, among other things."

9. Changes in personality. - He never would have admitted this in years past.

"I've decided to identify one of my weaknesses at this point in my life, which is I'm not tough enough anymore. I'm a little soft as I get older and I feel like I haven't done a very good job defensively this year".

10. Loss of initiative.

7-20 and relinquishing coaching duties - Need I say more?

Around the NBA (early)

I just wanted to comment on a few things around the league that have been on my mind and since this is a Warriors blog it will pertain to the W's indirectly.

Has any one been looking at how Matt Barnes has been playing this season. Always one of my favorite Warriors the last few years is putting up solid numbers - makes you reexamine the reasons for his yearlong struggles last year what with the loss of his mother and all.

Where is Adonal Foyle? I know he was resigned by the Magic but I haven't seen him this year and I can't find any injury notes on him.

Look at Baron Davis' early numbers. Down in every category - something as a Warrior fan I find satisfying, although I loved his time here.

Although Mickael Pietrus was aggravating to many a fan - he is quietly having a good season thus far for the Magic. 87% from the line????

And lastly... Is anyone else finding great satisfaction in the Dallas Mavericks early struggles. Especially after Mark Cuban threw Avery Johnson under the bus saying his players wanted him fired?? I know I am and I think maybe Avery is too.

Anyhow, I know these are not the new young Warriors that everyone is talking about but I'm sure I'm not the only one that keeps a tab on all the ex-Warriors and story lines developing around the NBA this early season.

Just some observations

but look at the teams that have done consistently well over the past few years. Mavericks, Suns, Spurs, Pistons... they are deep and play well together. Remember when the Pistons beat the Lakers and everybody talked about how they were the "ultimate team" b/c they didn't have one dominant player or star etc. etc. I think we all need to stop calling for wholesale changes and just let the team gel. Hell I would be game for bringing back everyone who actually played and just replace/trade/waive/buyout all the scrubs who rode the pine and replace them with some quality role players who fit in with our style of play. We have about seven quality NBA players on our team we just need a few more. I want to watch these guys come together next year and play full strength. Stop asking for trades of our new core so that we can get a "dominant big man" - shit we have been begging for a dominant point guard ever since Hardaway left.

The Warriors are not going to win the Championship every year - but wouldn't it be nice if they were good every year and at least had a chance?

BTW am I the only one who finds it ironic that the whole Nelson/Webber debacle in the 90's was b/c C-Webb didn't want to play the 5. Well look what he's willing to do now in order to win.

is that without Baron we would not even be in this series. Earlier this year GSW fans were calling to trade this guy and just yesterday there was a post exploring the option of Gilbert Arenas in '08. I don't want a player that opted not to return to the team when he could have. Give me a break after 13 years we have a leader that actually wants to be a Warrior and is showing the world that he is not only one of the most clutch players in the league (he hits every big shot - every time we need one - all year long) he is also one of the best players in the league, a la Steve Nash. He dominates opponents and makes others better. I know that he has had injuries but heart and talent can battle through a hurtin body - and he's only 28! Chris Mullin believed that this was the guy to build around (w/JRich) and he's proving he's worth the money (now that he has a good coach). How many guys can you say that about in the NBA.

Monta takes his first shower

Anyone listen to Al Harrington on Jim Rome this morning? He said that he met Monta while he was in high school and had him over to his house. Al said that before they went out Monta said "I have to take a bath." Apparently Monta had never taken a shower before he was 18 - only baths. I wonder how Monta feels being sold out on a nationally syndicated radio show like that.

OK- Am I the only one whose day was almost completely ruined by 12:15 p.m. yesterday? I moved to Oregon from San Jose six years ago so of course I have to spend hundreds of dollars a year to watch every Warriors game. I had my entire Sunday planned out. Watch the W's and flip back and forth to keep an eye of the Clipper game, then end it hoping the Lakers would fall apart against the Sonics. Much to my chagrin - neither the Warriors nor the Clipps were on TV. WTF when a team is making a run for the first time in 12 YEARS with three games left in the season, change the damn schedule and get a TV crew down there so that out of state fans can enjoy it!!!

I remember the Warrior/Kings game earlier this year on TNT and after an entertaining first half Charles Barkley straight up said on the halftime show that neither team was going to make the playoffs because neither team was any good. I hope the W's make it and someone replays that clip to him - just to see him eat his words. GO WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
