Entering final semester at Florida State University, lifelong supporter of the university. My father is an alum and I grew up on the glory days of the 90's but understand that things move in cycles. FSU is making a triumphant return and I will be with them for every step of the journey. Fair weather fans, go grab an umbrella and meet me at Doak this fall! The storm isn't over but the clouds are moving swiftly!!

Cameron Erving, The Monster from Moultrie

Yet another player that I think will be coming on this season. I think his day will come sooner than a lot of people initially expected given the nature of the position and importance of rotation. He's been doing well and his name continues to come up.

Avis Commack's Story of Perseverance

This is obviously an ongoing story, but a story nonetheless. I don't think there's much question that many people had their doubts as to whether or not Commack would ever be a contributor at FSU. While he hasn't done it on the field yet, it appears that he'll have his chance in 2011 and I think it will be fun to watch him defy the tall odds he's faced since arriving at FSU.

Freshman Fridays: CB Nick Waisome

A new series I'll be doing, just a short profile on a different incoming freshman per week. I started off with early enrollee CB Nick Waisome.

Haggins presenting himself as legitimate threat in 2011

While it may be early, Jarred Haggins is doing all the right things at the moment. His chance to contribute may come a lot earlier than many people expected.

Telvin Smith is potentially special talent for FSU

Well know there's a lot of buzz surrounding Telvin Smith this Spring, especially with him taking such a large amount of reps at middle linebacker. The statement I hear most commonly with Telvin is "when he packs on some bulk, he's gonna be something special" and while I tend to agree, I think we may be underestimating how special he already is. Granted, I certainly WANT him to get bigger and I highly doubt he'll be playing MLB beyond spring camp, but I think regardless of weight gained he'll be a key factor for us in 2011.

Injury to Thompson presents opportunity for Devonta Freeman

An obvious set back for Chris Thompson who was continuing to come into his own at tailback, but the opportunity for additional reps and attention this provides for Devonta Freeman can't be overlooked.

Chantrant.com: Five goals for FSU this Spring

I shared this with chantrant.com, figured it would be a nice way to pass the time with no scrimmage today. Share the five things you really wanna see this Spring?

Why is it so difficult to evaluate Leonard Hamilton?

As we approach Friday's match up, I was curious to know how other people feel about Leonard Hamilton as head coach of FSU. I think a lot of people will agree with me when I say that as excited as I am about what we have an opportunity to do this year, it was unexpected and still believe Hamilton could be doing a much better job at player development and coaching on the offensive end of the floor.

Seminole Rising: A look back at Safety Terrance Parks in 2010

While Parks' play wasn't as terrible as people make it out to be in 2010, it would be misleading to say that he has a starting spot locked down through 2011. It'll be interesting to see how well he holds off the talented youth behind him.

It's finally here! Spring Practice time

To add to the excitement of the basketball team making the Sweet 16, There's football to be played! I'm amped, it's gonna be a great week

Seminole Rising: A look back at WR Rodney Smith in 2010

Smith could have a true breakout season this year after getting his feet under him in 2010. He has a tendency to disappear in some games, but hopefully that won't be the case this year.

Seminole Rising: A look back at CB Xavier Rhodes in 2010

As we all know, Rhodes had an amazing season in 2010. He'll be sitting out this Spring recovering from groin surgery but I don't think that will slow him too much in the long run. He could use the reps to polish up of course, but he needs to get healthy.

Seminole Rising: A look back at FB/RB Lonnie Pryor in 2010

One of the most important pieces to the FSU offense without question, I added a little extra to the Lonnie article. I enlisted the help of Chuck Blunt who did some quick research for me and compared Lonnie's #s with those of other FB's in the ACC (excluding GT) and other FB's in Jimbo's offense.

Seminole Rising: A look back at DE Brandon Jenkins in 2010

Jenkins had an outstanding season last year, but he also lost a bit of steam late like many of our linemen (competition also got a little thicker). I think we will see another double digit sack year out of him in 2011.

Seminole Rising: A look back at WR Willie Haulstead in 2010

Haulstead has the potential to have a really great season in 2011. I believe the mental side of his game will round out this off-season after the experience and comfort gained in 2010.

Seminole Rising: A look back at DT Everett Dawkins in 2010

Dawkins is a very consistent player without flashy numbers. I'd call him a relatively silent hero because without his presence our defense would suffer big time. He may be pushed if McAllister ever pulls it all together, but in the meantime it's tough to ask for a better kid there.

Gearing Up for Mark Stoops 2nd Year at FSU

Here's an interesting look at some comparisons of defensive coordinators and the results they've yielded in the 2nd year at their respective job using Total Defense numbers.

Seminole Rising: A look back at RB Chris Thompson in 2010

A look back at Chris Thompson's 2010 season and what lies ahead as he fights to be the starter in 2011.

Seminole rising: A look back at CB/PR Greg Reid in 2010

Last off-season I started a series called 'Seminole Rising' where I highlighted a diff player each week that I felt would have a major impact in 2010. I'll be doing it again this year with new players, but figured it would be fun to revisit the guys from last year. Greg Reid is first.

Florida State Quarterbacks: Dawn of a New Era

How well EJ Manuel does or doesn't progress and grow during the off-season will obviously have a large impact on FSU's season in 2011. It'll also be quite fun to watch.

FSU Specialist: Best in the ACC?

Returning both Powell and Hopkins in 2011, along with Greg Reid as return specialist. One question that will be fun to watch get answered is who will join Mr. Reid in returning kicks next season

Florida State Tight Ends: New Stars ready to emerge?

With Beau Reliford's eligibility still in question, it will be interesting to see if either Will Tye or Tank Sessions can keep Nick O'Leary off the field in the event Reliford doesn't make it back. My guess is no. Regardless of good O'Leary is expected to be, I think it's best for FSU if Reliford is available next season.

Florida State Offensive Line: Interior Makeover

One of the two units that has to replace starters in 2011, the offensive line may raise the most questions for FSU.

FSU Backfield: Old Experience and New Talent

the 2011 Seminole backfield will feature composite career numbers of 660+ carries, 3800+ yards rushing, 90 receptions 750+ yards receiving and 52 total touchdowns

Florida State Wide Receivers: Another loaded unit

The 2011 Seminole receiving corps features combined career numbers that amount to: 300+ receptions, 4000+ receiving yards and 23 receiving TD's.

Off-season will bring heated competition to FSU's secondary

Despite all starters returning, I think the FSU secondary will see some shake ups and take a few turns this off-season.

Florida State DL: Young pups growing up

The Seminoles will finally field a defensive line of mature/experienced players with talented depth behind it.

The immediate impact potential of the 2011 class

People often underestimate the overall immediate impact a #1 recruiting class can have on a football team and fail to recognize the other ways they can help besides seeing the field.

Jimbo Fisher's next big recruiting challenge

Florida State is starting to have "championship caliber problems". With the talent and depth that has been assembled over the latest recruiting cycles, another challenge that will arise on the recruiting trail is FSU's own depth chart.

Florida State Linebackers: Who will rise to the occasion in 2011?

With Jeff Luc's recent surgery the position battle at MLB and the other positions may be impacted during the Spring
