Stephen Strasburg, the consensus #1 overall pick in this June's MLB draft, was in town tonite. . . if you live in Utah. I went to see him pitch. The dude can bring it. Or, as the Wharvey gals (‘Oh Brother’) say, 'he’s bonafide.' Kind of an off nite, just 10 K's. The Utah hitters were sitting on his #1, and even college guys can hit that if they know it's coming. Didn't see any shattered aluminum. He began mixing with a slider as the game wore on, and that proved to be a potent mix, and generated the K's. He's all business out there, very unlike Evan Longoria a few yrs ago---he seemed to be carrying a mirror in his back pocket. The real disappointment for me was the presence, or lack thereof, of coach Tony Gwynn. He never ventured outside the dugout.

I took some photos, and am unsure why I cannot upload one here. In any case, here's video of the consensus #1. http://aztecchannel.sdsu.edu/media/features/051309_BB_Feature_Strasburg.wmv

Ya Don't Want to Be a KC Fan Today. . or Tomorrow

They traded Andy Sisco, a 24 yr old monster-sized lefty with a HUGE upside to the White Sox. . . for a 31 yr old vanilla ib/of backup.

How does the KC GM not figure out the value of pitching, young pitching?
I'm not a KC fan but even this makes me sick for KC fans.

And I also am thinking how great it would be if Sisco's new residence was in Milwaukee!
