Brew: Foot-In-Tweet

I'd like to commend the Daily Gopher on its coverage of Tim Brewster's recent Twittering. As much as some Gopher fans would like to adopt a hear-no-evil, see-no-evil, say-no-evil approach, I think that something "tweeted" by Brewster (or another of his pea-brained yes-men ... *cough* Brezowitz *cough*) is just as relevant as a off-the-schneid remark in public.

It's probably also worth noting that in an age when NCAA coaches are working to be at the forefront of the recruiting race (as we have seen in the past few years with texting, etc) it's worth asking why someone with the 'U' hasn't either a) planted a foot in Brewster's ass or 2) a muzzle on his big mouth.

As a Gopher fan who lauded Brewster as a grassroots rally cry leader and recruiting guru when he was hired, I am admitting my mistake. I can really now feel the beginning of the end for Brewster in Dinkytown. I think a 'tweet' such as the one we've seen from Brewster this week is indicative of his pig-headed, ultra self-aware nature. This will ultimately be his undoing as a collegiate head coach - I would be shocked to see him on the sidelines of TCF Bank Stadium come the fall of 2010, regardless of the 2009 team's record.

A coach that REALLY cares about what Pat Reusse or GopherHole commenters have to say (and Brewster does) on a daily basis is over their head at the Division I level. It's a dog-eat-dog world, and Brewster is just too proud to handle it.

Jake Deitchler

Read an article in the Pioneer Press today on U wrestling recruit Jake Deitchler indicating that he might not come to the 'U':

http://www.twincities.com/sports/ci_10195477

The Star Tribune made no mention of the possibility that Deitchler might forgo his opportunity to wrestle in college to focus on the Greco-Roman discipline in a long Rachel Blount article today, but it would seem like a legitimate possibility. Any Gopher wrestling minds have any opinions on this?
