Double-T Nation Replay of Texas vs Texas Tech 2002 on ESPN Classic

I was hoping that somebody such as ESPN Classic would replay the 2008 game but I haven't had any luck finding that particular game.  I did find the 2002 game.  The 2002 matchup is going to be on ESPN Classsic, Thursday, September 16 at 4:00 p.m.  ESPN Classic TV Schedule

This is my 2nd favorite game because I was a sophomore at Tech and my girlfriend (now wife) and I rushed the field after the victory.  I gave Nehemiah Glover a high five.

Here is a refresher.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bodvHzsj5os

If someone finds the 2008 replay, please let me know.

Also, it is 11:24 a.m. on Monday morning and I have been completely worthless at work.  I have been here almost 4 hours and I have accomplished zero, zilch, nada.  The chances of me contributing something meaningful to society this week are 0%.  What can I say, it's Texas week.  I'm ready, I hope our boys are as well.  Wreck 'Em Tech.

Double-T Nation Mike Leach at NY Jets Training Camp

Today I was watching PTI like I do every single day and one of the topics was about Rex Ryans language being repeated by his young son.  Anyways, it is showing video of Rex Ryan at the Jets training camp and I noticed Mike Leach in the background.  I had to hit the rewind button several times to make sure it was Leach.  I google Mike Leach at NY Jets camp and found the following link.  It's a 3 minute interview with Leach.  After listening to the interview, I had to listen again to make sure this wasn't an old interview because Leach talks about how we try to spread the ball around on offense and he makes comparisons to the way Ryan runs the Jets defense.  The interviewer introduces Leach as the former Texas Tech football coach.

Maybe everyone has already seen this, but if not, here's the link.  It was news to me.  Love that guy, good luck Captain Leach.

Double-T Nation Disappointed in the fans and students as well

Once again, I am disappointed in some of our students and fans.  Did anyone notice how after a Texas A&M field goal, the Tech students would throw the ball backwards over the roof of the coaches offices on the south end?  Why would anyone do that?  Throw the ball back down to the ball boy.  I graduated in 2005 so I can remember how rowdy the students get, and I like that.  I can understand how a few beers and being down by 24 points can upset a person, but come on.  I work with an Aggie who graduated in 1957, yes, that is not a typo, 1957.  He went to the game.  He is one of the most arrogant people I have ever met.  The very first thing he said to me this morning was "I would be embarrassed if the A&M students ever acted like the Tech students did."  I had no response.  I tried the "If you can't act like a total idiot in college, when can you?", but even I didn't buy that.

Also, when the A&M band was marching, there were several people standing up and booing the band?  Really?  You are going to boo the band?!  That even more emberassing than the way our football team played.  They are in the band!!

I sit in Section 3, 20 rows up.  I am half the age (26) of 90% of the people I sit with.  The people to my immediate left and right have been to every Texas Tech game home and away since the 70s.  They were truly pleased with the A&M band and were trying to enjoy it, but couldn't because of people booing the band.  I don't care for all the tradition and rules A&M has, in fact I think most of them are pretty dumb.  I can even tolerate the "Tech's not Tier 1" crap every Aggie throws out because those people are idiots.  Common sense, people skills, and work ethic get you the $$.  Attending a Tier 1 university 10 years ago doesn't.  What I can't tolerate is the way some of the Tech fans acted during the game, I don't care if it is Texas A&M.  I went out of my way to shake every Aggie's hand I saw at the game, and a few of the responses I got were rude, but it is just a football game.  I am as die hard a red raider as there is.  Every single t-shirt I have is Texas Tech.  My 2 year old and 3 month old daughters have more Tech clothing than anything.  The 2 year old already gets her guns up when she sees a double t logo.  I am heart broken over this loss, but as my wife, who is much smarter and wiser than I am, reminded me, it is a football game.

Go home, kiss your wife, hug your kids, and thank God for your blessings.   Just thinking out loud here.

Wreck 'Em Tech!

Double-T Nation #1 goal is a Big 12 Championship

Like everyone else, I am extremely disappointed in Tech's performance in Houston Saturday night.  One thing that is being overlooked I think is the fact that Houston is not a Big 12 opponent.  Tech needs to be more concerned with winning a Big 12 Championship than winning a National Championship.  Last year was a great year for Texas Tech, but we still ended up in the Cotton Bowl.  We need a BCS bowl, not the Cotton Bowl.  (As a side note, I love the Cotton Bowl and I am always grateful when we are invited to play.)

I think sometimes we focus more on the National Championship rather than a Big 12 Championship.   Look at Penn State, they were ranked #4 and lost to a conference opponent.  I would much rather lose to Hoston than lose to Kansas State, Nebraska, A&M, Kansas, OSU, OU, or Baylor.  With the way the season is playing out right now, I don't think Texas can run the gauntlet.  Every Big 12 team will have at least one loss.  Tech needs to take this experience and move forward.  Potts has to make better decisions and stop throwing off his back foot, our O-Line has to give Potts space to throw, and Leach needs to take points when the game is on the line.  There are numerous areas for Tech to improve and tough road games are times when those areas are exposed.  It is better to have our weaknesses exposed during the non conference schedule so we can be better prepared for the road games in Lincoln and Stillwater.

Double-T Nation 9th Annual Herbie Awards - Tech Heading in Wrong Direction

Kirk Herbstreit has posted his annual "Herbie Awards."  I posted a link to the article below.   He list Detron Lewis as a name college football viewers will know by the end of September, but he does not list Lewis as an elite receiver.  Like most college football analyst, Herbstreit thinks UT, OU, and OSU are the teams to beat in the Big 12.

He does list the Red Raiders as one of six teams who are heading in the wrong direction.  I hear the term "reloading rather than rebuilding" associated with programs like Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, etc., but I never hear that term used with Tech and I don't understand why.  When has our offense ever rebuilt since Mike Leach came to Lubbock?  It hasn't.  Texas A&M is in the "rebuilding" stage.  We were 1 game away from playing in the Big 12 Championship last year and college football analyst think we are heading in the wrong direction? Since Leach arrived, Tech's program has remained competitive to say the least.  To group Tech in with teams such as Cincinnati, Connecticut, Northwestern, and Boston College is to say we won't even make a bowl appearance this year.  I understand that Tech hasn't won the Big 12 Championship but we haven't finished 3-9 either.
