UCLA Football Banquet Video

It's been a tough week for BN, so I thought I'd post something to make us smile. At the end of the banquet, CRN had a few of the players speak. This senior class is full of heart and they will be successful no matter what they choose to do. They exemplify what being a Bruin is all about.

In the words of Alterraun Verner, "I will forever...EVER...be a Bruin!"

Videos from Washington/UCLA Football Game!

Bumped. GO BRUINS. - N.

My family and I had the PLEASURE of being on the sidelines yesterday at the game!  It's an awesome experience being so close to the action.  I took a few videos to share with BN...

This one is inside the tunnel as the team comes out of the locker room and gets ready to take the field.  The bell they are ringing is new.  I'm not sure when they added it but it was not there last season.

You can also hear the fans in the stands above stomping on the ground, which is really cool.  If you are someone who sits there, keep that up!

More after the jump including videos of Logan's big catch and run, Harkey's TD and Austin's awesome TD.

Junior Taylor Trying to Bring Kids to the Rose Bowl Again This Year!

Bumped. GO BRUINS. -N

Former UCLA Wide Receiver Junior Taylor (8),  is doing great things as the Athletic Director of a foundation known as Champion Schools in Phoenix, Arizona.  He would like to ask Bruin fans to help his kids board a bus to the UCLA-Washington game in conjunction with the "I'm Going to College" program.

Most of these kids are from economically disadvantaged  homes and have never been to a college football game. He told me that he wants to show them that it's possible to attend the best college in the country like he did.  Here is the email he sent to me:

UCLA's “I'm Going to College” program, the nation's largest collegiate community outreach effort, has touched the lives of thousands of elementary, middle, and high school students across Southern California. Offered through the Southern California school systems, this unique program couples the excitement and tradition of UCLA Athletic events with a message about the importance of higher education. UCLA has extended a special invite to Champion Schools of Phoenix, Arizona the only Out of State School to participate in the program.

My team and I will be participating in the “I’m Going to College” program November 6th-8th. The objective of this program is designed to place young students (5th-8th grade) in a collegiate atmosphere that stresses the excellence of education and athletics. In hosting us, UCLA’s goal is to build positive relationships with young people in their own community and to motivate them to continue achieving goals in both school and life.  The three-day experience includes pre-game activities, tickets to UCLA vs. University of Washington, a campus tour, and attendance at a college fair.

Several of our team members have never been on a college campus before and most of them have never had the opportunity to travel out of the state of Arizona.  This trip will truly be a life-changing experience for our kids.

I am currently seeking financial sponsors to help with expenses of the trip and hope I can count on your support. Any contributions are greatly appreciated.

This is a great weekend for the kids.  If you would like to donate, please email me at uclafan11@yahoo.com and I will send you the tax deductible form.  You can fax or scan/email to Junior with your credit card info and donation amount.  If you wish to pay by check, the address is on this form as well.

The deadline is November 2nd for donations!  If you have any questions about this program, please contact Junior at jtaylor@championschools.org.

GO BRUINS!!!

"USC Trojans running back Stafon Johnson injured his throat in a weightlifting accident Monday and required emergency surgery.

Johnson was bench pressing when the bar slipped from his hand and fell on his throat, according to a release from the school."

Wow - hope he is ok. Never like to see someone get hurt.

More TN Videos!

Sorry this took so long!  With the bye week, I know we are all counting the days until next Saturday, so here are some videos to keep you fired up in the meantime!

Here is one of the first bus arriving at our house with police escort.  I had to stop taping though so I could greet them!

The team intently watching last year's TN game at the Rose Bowl...

On 3rd and 3, Crompton is sacked...

 Hardesty stopped for a loss...

And lastly, Jetski Franklin running down the sideline!  The video is a little shaky with all the excitement!

In the words if CRN...

The entire world that bleeds blue and gold...they have been DYING for this!!!

Looking forward to my trip to Palo Alto!

GO BRUINS!!!

Stanford Game Time Set - Who's Going!?

From UCLA's official website: "UCLA's Pac-10 Conference opener at Stanford on October 3 will be televised by ABC on a regional basis. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:30 pm. It will be UCLA's first appearance of the year on ABC. The Bruins have already played on Fox Sports Net, ESPN and Fox Sports West." Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? Our UCLA Dream Weekend!

Bumped. Awesome post as usual from uclafan11 w some pretty sweet photos and unbelievable videos (!) that you will want to check out after the jump. GO BRUINS. -N

Okay, I've been dying to tell you all about our weekend in Tennessee!  I ended up finding a connection for my camera so my photos and some videos are loaded.  I will post something else later with more videos, but I am busting at the seems to share this with BN.

For business reasons, my family has a home outside of Knoxville and we are back here often.  Over a year and a half ago when we heard that UCLA would be in town to play Tennessee in 2009, we told our friends at Fan Travel and in the athletic office that if they needed any help with locations etc. to let us know.  We also offered our home for a sponsor or donor party if they needed a spot to have a function.  We went ahead and gave them some restaurants to check out and that was that.  Until a couple of weeks ago...
