Packers: Under-the-Radar Signing of Manny Lawson Could Be a Significant Upgrade
I'm not a huge fan of the Bleacher Report, but I thought this article did a pretty could job of describing just how bad we were at ROLB last year and how Lawson could be a good fit for us
Rodgers vs. Manning Playoff Stats
I understand that the Giants and the Packers have two different styles of offense, but I took a look at how Manning has fared in the playoffs vs how Rodgers has fared in the playoffs in standard passing stats. Charts and such are below.

Aaron Rodgers with a week off the last 2 seasons (4 games)
I got to thinking about what allowed the Packers to get things going last year as they sparked a late-season Super Bowl run. The thing that came to my mind was the week Rodgers got off from his concussion (which in my eyes was 2 weeks off since he only threw 11 passes in the Lions game) last year. When he came back, he just looked refreshed, every pass seemed to be more accurate, and his reads at the line got even better. I want to take a look at how Rodgers has performed with a week off in the last 2 seasons.

NFL MVP: Brees vs Rodgers
I wanted to take a look at the stats comparing Brees and Rodgers. I wanted to look at the numbers of each quarterback, besides the obvious stats.
I created several tables.
Table 1 contained each quarterback's stats for yards, attempts, yards/attempt, completion percentage, touchdowns, interceptions, and QB rating
Table 2 contained each quarterback's stats for yards/game, attempts/game, touchdowns/game, and interceptions/game
Table 3: For the Table 3 I went through and counted the total number of drives each quarterback conducted, subtracting drives that involved taking a knee (or 3 plays and a knee) at the end of a half and drives led by Flynn or Daniels. I then put each quarterback's yards, attempts, touchdowns, and interceptions on a per drive basis.
Table 4 contained the numbers from Table 3 and calculated out to 150 drives. I chose 150 drives as the average season, so the numbers in that table show how each quarterback would differ from the other based on the performance from this season and an even number of drives for each quarterback.
Table 5 contained the average line of scrimmage (LOS) for each team and then showed how many more yards one quarterback had to work with over the course of a 150 possession season

Favre would talk to Bears
Of course, like most girls, Favre wants them to make the first move. The only question is: is he trying to get revenge on the Packers or Vikings this time?
OT: Could Tebow win MVP
I ask this as a serious question. Seriously. I was having a conversation with a buddy tonight about this topic and I want to get your opinions on this. For this to be a legit question though there is a hypothetical, the Broncos have to make the playoffs and the Packers cannot go undefeated in the regular season.
Packer's defense against every team so far
Hi guys, there was a request on my last post to show how the pass defense is doing so far in situational passing. I entered every play the defense has played so far this season and the point differential at the time. There were some plays omitted, like QB kneels and some plays where penalties were committed, so the stats may not be 100% what you see in the box score.
Going from right to left at the top is the game log, broken down by quarter and team for every game this season. At the bottom of the page in yellow, is all the results/important stuff. If there is a summation of some kind that people want to see on the chart, let me know.
For a link to the chart, click here
and for the record, the chart is much cleaner and easier to read in Excel than Google Docs
How the Pass Defense Compares to every QB
I put together a spreadsheet comparing the Packers passing defense ranks in comparison to all the quarterbacks that started the season. In some cases, like Indy, Miami, Denver, Minnesota, and Washington I just compiled all their QB's stats to not skew the data too much. I could have done the same for Oakland, but Campbell was by far and away better than anything they've had since then so I just left him there. I manually typed the stats in from ESPN so if there is something wrong, and there probably is (the spreadsheet already switched a bunch of data, so it might have done it again), let me know.

Chris Cook in jail instead of at the game Sunday
I don't think much of Cook's cover skills, but he's definitely better than whoever is behind him on the depth chart
Colledge Not Happy With White House Snub
seems the Packers didn't invite players that were on the team last year, but not this year, to the white house this past week. On top of that, they let the new guys to the team this year go.
I think this is a non-topic really, like the super bowl photo was. But some people will blow this out of the water and make a huge deal about it. I can see, however, why Colledge is pissed. But it's not something that should be a distraction for the team
McKinnie Released
I don't think the Packers will even consider him, but it's interesting they'd get rid of him. I know he had a huge weight problem and attitude problem... but when has that stopped the Vikings before. Seems like the new coach wants to change the attitude around the team
Randy Moss Retires
Moss announced his retirement today after 13 NFL seasons.
I wonder where his career stats would be had he not went to Oakland
Playoff teams we beat last year, WITH POLL!
When looking at the NFC, I think it's fair to assume the playoff teams will be pretty much the same this year as they were last year. Maybe AZ or STL takes over for Seattle or maybe the Saints show up this year. However, assuming the main teams are still there, I want to take a look at what the playoff "PACk" have done this week. Those teams being
Philly
Atlanta
Chicago
This is just kind of a look at what the Packers might be up against assuming they make it back to the playoffs.
Also, if you do actually read this whole thing, I'm at work on lunch break and don't have time to proof read it (and organizing my thoughts/spelling are pretty sketchy to begin with) so if it's crap, I apologize
Olney: Liriano Not Gonna Be Traded
Saw him report this on Sports Center and he seemed to suggest what everyone kind of assumed: Someone in a newspaper around here suggested that Liriano could be traded and everything since then has all been from the NY end, whether it be the team or the press
Championship Celebration
I'm currently watching it on ESPN3.com... wish I was there. I think it says a lot about the Green Bay Packers fan base that they can essentially sell out the stadium (I'm not sure if they full did or not) at $5 a ticket just to have people watch some football players and front office people walk on the field and say a few words.
I like the fact that they did this instead of a parade, parades always seemed so stupid to me. But I hope they send the money from this to charity or something cause that's roughly $300,000 and I don't see why else they'd need to make people pay. Does anyone know what they're doing with that? Did they end up charging for those tickets?
Anyway, watching Coach McCarthy walk out with the Lombardi Trophy and then letting the fans touch it was pretty unreal.
I'm just happy they let the I.R. guys participate
Gameday, YOUR intangibles
I'm curious as to what other Packers fans do on gameday to bring the Pack good luck? There's gotta be some people out there that do some pretty crazy stuff. I'm also a little curious as to what everyone will be eating for the game, I'd like to go away from my standard wings/pizza/cheese bread that I've been doing for the last, every Sunday for the last couple years... but I'm clueless to what other kinds of food exist.
Favre Comments
First off, this is my first fan post because I suck at typing the English language, so excuse me if there's some misspellings and what not. I also do not know how to do fancy stuff with quotes and making stuff look cool. Ya dig? And sorry if this has already been written about.
Now that I'm done making excuses for myself, what do you guys make of the quotes from Brett Favre?
the ones I'm speaking of are
- "I think they will win it all! I hope they do, if you are wondering."
- That the Packers are "by far" the best team standing
- "Aaron Rodgers is the best QB and the receiving corps is the best ever, maybe,"
- "But Dom and the defense gets the MVP award at this stage."
Do you think he is trying to repair his imagine in GB now that he knows he can't possibly stick it to MM or TT anymore? Or, as a few ESPN people are suspecting, is he giving Rodgers backhanded compliments by stating that Rodgers is doing this with the best receivers (implying Favre did it with much less talent) and that the real reason the Packers are winning is the Defensive Don Dom.
While I agree that Rodgers receivers are far more talented than anything Favre had as a Packer, I'm not sure what he means by "best ever". There's no way they're the best ever in the NFL, probably the best the Packers have ever had, but other than that I'm clueless to what it could mean. I also agree that Capers is the man, no ifs ands or buts about it. In fact I'm so happy that most teams have found head coaches now so that Dom is more likely to be with the Pack next year.
As for my thoughts about the quotes, I'm leaning towards it being backhanded compliments to Rodgers, while trying to make amends with fans. One cannot with absolute certainty say that he wasn't complimenting the team and that's what he'll state if asked about it, but if he was really trying to say how great Rodgers is/has been playing, he would have mentioned the lack of a run game and the suspect offensive line.
There was also the incident after the last Bears/Vikes game where Favre told Peppers to "beat the Packers"... so I'm really just clueless as to what anything this man says anymore. Could he possibly just be putting pressure on the Packers to succeed, in hopes that they lose? Maybe he's just covering his tracks for when the Packers win this weekend, or maybe... I don't know.
What you think?
Also, if anyone caught the Visanthe Hanglow interview on "Rome is Burning" he made it pretty clear that the Bears defensive is better than the Packers and that he'd rather play the Packers defense. Stating that the Bears "throw so much at you" and the Packers are "pretty plain" and that they don't do much. He also made reference to even though Rodgers is playing well, the Packers will lose because of him on Sunday (that losing part is how I interpreted his words)... I can't stand the dude, he is very talented by he kind of seemed like he wasn't exactly a football genius so I'm not taking his words too seriously, just surprised me how much more he thinks of the Bears than the Packers. He did also mention how much he doesn't like the Packers, which probably helps explain his thoughts on the team. Just had to throw this in their, since it came on while I was typing this.
