SF Chronicle: Lou Piniella to join Giants as a consultant
Lou and Giants GM Brian Sabean go way back, working for the Yankees in the 80s.
Lou will be based out of Florida so he can stay closer to home. There's a good chance I'll see him here in Richmond to watch the Flying Squirrels, the Giants' Double-A affiliate.
OT-Richmond's new baseball team will be called...
...the Flying Squirrels!!!
That beat out four other options: Rock Hoppers, Hush Puppies, Rhinos, and Flatheads.
It doesn't exactly roll off the tongue, but I'll give it some time to see if it grows on me. I'm just glad pro ball is back here in Richmond.

"Sandberg Game" on MLB Network Sunday 2/22 @ 3pm CT
The description of this game on the MLB Network schedule is not quite accurate, but I won't let it hinder my enjoyment of the game.
This is one of a few classic games to enjoy tomorrow...
- 10:30a CT: Nolan Ryan's 7th No-Hitter in 1991
- 1:00p CT: Mark "The Bird" Fidrych tosses a CG in 1976 against the Yankees at Tiger Stadium
- 8:00p CT: Carlton Fisk hits GW homer for the White Sox in his return to Fenway back in 1981.
