We need Dez
We need Dez
We need the Dez. We need the Dez like Dennis Rodman needs weird. We need someone with arrogant talent. Talent that automatically make defenses respect him. We saw just little bit of it with Jamaal Charles. With our underwhelming draft last year, you would think adding someone who can stretch the field and stop eight in the box defenses, something a left tackle can not do, would be enticing. By drafting a LT at this juncture would say Albert can’t play the position, which is not true. Drafting a LT would be a luxury pick, not a need pick which would set us back in our rebuilding. Only playoffs teams can use picks as a luxury. Bryant would bring excitement and energize the fans. And hopefully with the resigning of Chris Chambers to tutor him and DBowe, who would make an excellent 2, could possibly give KC its best young receiving corp ever. I’m really digging all the rumors about Bryant’s character. Its just a sure fire sign that this young man is special. I reminisce, Warren Sapp, he failed a drug test in the weeks leading up to the draft(future hall guy), Randy Moss, his attitude is bad man, he is a bad boy, bad chemistry(I believe all-pro?) hmm! Percy Harvin(see Sapp). Larry Johnson is a malcontent baby, oh! damn my bad. Look people makes mistake, and young Mr. Bryant freaked in the stare of an NCAA investigation, so do grown men. Give the kid a break, than watch him break free from defenders. Oh, and he plays on the special teams. Whether folks agree if receiver is a need position, and I do. Is debatable. His talent and ability as a punt returner actually makes him two picks in one. We need a punt returner. Charles not having to run against eight in the box. Dez Bryant brings a lot of football intangibles with him. Only Eric Berry in this draft can come close to the talent level at multiple positions like Bryant, and I would not be mad with that pick either. But not a LT. He is a threat with ball in his hands. Our club for once need to go for the splashy on the offensive side of the ball. I’m sorry I could just be drunk from all those HIGHLIGHTS of watching defenders chase Charles. He will have defenses geared towards him now. And putting that nasty eight out there and Charles will take a beating. All running backs do. So stop dreaming. Now your LT can opens holes on the line of scrimmage, but Bryant will open up lanes, big ones. Because safeties would be scared straight into the defensive back fields where they belong. But for all of our sanity, I’m hopeful of a draft of talented players and not system players. Because as we all should know, talented players makes any system look good.
Changing Haley
How many players feel like LJ. Do other players feel like LJ about their coach. Of course they do. The question than becomes, how are players performances effected by their feelings towards their coach. Some of our young players have truly regressed under coach 22. Our coach has created a negative atmosphere with his constant confrontational attitude. I wanted our coach because I thought a fiery coach would be great. But he is not a fiery coach, in the mode of Bill Cowher, he is a confrontational coach in the mode of PJ Carlesimo. Now I don’t believe any of the chiefs will choke coach 22. However the environment of dislike will make players feel uninspired to perform. Most do remember that the NY Giants was an underachieving talented team that miss the playoffs under another want to be Parcells coach. Only after a star running back retired and most players blowing him off did coach Coughlin change and became more relaxed in his demeanor did the Giants respond with a superbowl win. Now of course they are a talented bunch, and we are not. Todd Haley biggest problem is he is not Bill Parcell. So it might be a good ideal to stop trying be like him. Did you read the Mike Lombardi interview, it was dripping with our coach is the problem. He needs to mature. He will never be respected by players that know he has never felt a blindside blitz or given up a winning touchdown pass, or even missed the game winning field goal. And it not just because he comes from a golf background, its because he come from a golf background and thinks he know it all and is trying to be someone else. From the Parcell/Belichick tree only the people who don’t try to be them has success. Sean Payton, Josh McDaniels and GM Thomas Dimitroff. Compare that to the two coaches who do try to act like Parcells/Belichick, Haley and Mangini. And lets not forget that Belichick was ran out of Cleveland because of his approach. Think God for second chances and some time to reflect. Just like any other chiefs fan I support whomever is the coach. But this guy needs to tone it down a couple of notches.
Larry Johnson was playing on his last chiefs team unless he ran for over 1,400 yards and was on good behavior, we all knew this. He won’t and he hasn’t. So that makes him the best player to send a message to coach 22 that maybe the players are getting a little fed up with him. Fear do not make players better, coaching do. Fear is a negative form. But somehow people actually think fear can bring positive results And sometimes you can for a brief period.. Remember how successful coach Johnson was in Dallas. He had a talented bunch, but he thought fear was the motivating force in Dallas, not coaching and his really talented team. He set up shop in Miami and was so unsuccessful using fear most folks don’t remember that he coached the Dolphins. I think its safe to say coach Haley is no coach Johnson. It is hard to built anything long term based on fear and treating people harshly. What better player to say what is probably on the minds of some of the players. In a hope that their coach get a clue. Hopefully he took the bye week to reflect on being himself and understanding his players may not be responding to his methods.
Oh my damn again!
Thanks for the feed back from all of MY fellow chiefs fans. I'm not offended by anyone response to my opinion. After all I put it out there for the public to read.
I've been a chiefs fans since about 1969. My favorite chiefs is and will always be Otis Taylor. I was joked just about all my teen aged years because our beloved chiefs were really good at losing for most if not all of my teen aged years. So some of your response will never bother me. I post them because I want read what you have to say.
First of all my post is not nearly as negative as Mr. 22 has been towards his players. Starting with I can find 22 guys off the street and win two games. Well for our sake lets hope he can win one game.
Secondly, I'm not a rose colored glass wearing chiefs fan. I believe every Sunday fans boo to their satisfaction when their team is not performing wholeheartedly. When our team is not playing well whether its because of poor execution or lack of interest we boo. This does not mean we are not passioned about the chiefs. Just realists. I'm amazed how some of Chief Nation fans get highly worked up because someone is critical of Mr. 22.
DJ as we all know has not produced the number of plays that we would like. OK, but bench him while LJ plays. Bench DJ while keeping Tim Krumrie to coach our d-line. Bench DJ while playing rejects from the Parcells-Belichick tree. Some of our fans seem to like Mr. 22 simply because he yells. I will say it again DJ is our best defensive player. And what exactly is DJ not doing that have him on the bench. DJ was playing better than Mr. 22 is coaching.
And for the record I wanted Mr. 22 as our coach. I believe he should have time to implement his plan. But if fear is his bread and butter for turning this team around, I just hope he is not a one trick pony, because like I've said before it don't work on today's players.
Oh damn!
How is it we are willing to bench, trade or disregard our best defensive player because he IS an underchiver, yet keep picking up other players that are not wanted by others teams and for obvious reasons (they can't play). Leonard Pope has accomplished nothing, but because he has CONNECTIONS to Parcells, Belichick or Mr. 22 he is fair game. While the best player is regulated to the bench. Not playing him only reduces his value and guess what it also reduces the chances of already hesitant free agents from considering KC as their destination. Who wants to play for ego manic that has no real accomplishments himself, unless you call being footballs version of John McEnroe an accomplishment. Not to offend Johnny Mac because he has accomplished something. It seems that he has harsh words for players between each possession. The idiot even had words for the punter, our second best player. We look like an bottom of the barrel division 1AA team. We have only been in one game this year and that was against the Raiders. Dallas had at least two touchdowns dropped and played uninspired football, made HUGE mistakes and still beat us. I'm suprised that our players are keeping their heads up despite the fact that Mr. 22 is giving them nothing to work with, but mean stares, harsh words and a college game plan.
Patience and Tolerance
I believe in both. Our coach and GM want both from the fans. But when it comes to the players now thats a different story. The shuffling of players is bad for morale, denies continuity and rid the players of any chance of familiarizing themselves with the guy beside him. We all know that our offensive line is awful, but what we don’t know is if any of those players could play because they never got the chance to develop. Our coach I guess has decided a few plays or maybe a game is all he need to evaluate a player. OK. None of our recently departed all-pro linemen would have developed under the trying conditions that our coach has implemented. What he is doing is not discipline, its disrespect. And while many of Chiefs Nation faithful back this crazy approach to motivating grown men, I’m sure none would tolerated it on their jobs. Spare me the money argument. Fear will only work for so long, and in this case, if at all. I hope this coach has more than one trick up his sleeve because I know and you know the players will turn him off. Maybe that is one of the reasons for the shuffling of players. Or how about this. Give other players the same patience that is being shown to Tyson Jackson. The first pick of Mr. Pioli. Again we all want Jackson to develop and he need time to do so. So do most players, but Mr. 22 has little patience with a critical part of the team. One that need time to develop, like Jackson. And the worst part is the play calling and the penalties. That is strictly a coaching thing. I’m already tired of Cassell dropping back five yards and throwing six yards to Wade. Of course its usually on 3rd and fifteen. Maybe some three yards or five yards slants to Bowe or Bradley. But I’m not sure if he likes either of them because as far as I can tell they have no link to Parcells or Belichick. I’m not going to speak on the my buddy trading system we’re involve in. I have no ideal who is playing on the right of the line on Sunday. Hell, Cassell don’t know. Ah man, Mr. 22 don’t know. Did we have a training camp?
YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME !!
YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!
Please tell me our coach who for some reason can’t accept that players are not perfect and are humans that should be respected., just decided that playing to win is not important right now. But Mr. 22 said he could find that many and win 2 games. So far he can’t find 5 guys to protect the quarterback. He gave up Sunday because he and Scotty decided that no offensive lineman in free agency was worth any of the millions he’s sitting on. Ok, I can understand that. Don’t won’t to throw away money. But our coach with his bad attitude and my way or the highway approach to dealing with grown men will wear thin on them before they motivate them.
Quiz for Bill Parcells people: Which player did things his own way most of the time and was never demoted or benched and played hard ass football every Sunday? It’s the one thing Parcell never did. His best players played on Sundays. Monday through Friday talk all the crap you want, but on Sunday you play your best against the others team best and hope for the best. On Sunday HE quit.
He can talk to his players behind closed doors on Tuesday, about what he is trying to establish, but players only know what we all saw on Sunday. A coach who team did not compete, because the coach has no clue what Sundays are all about. Because if he did than Cassell would have thrown at least 25 passes in the second half. Can’t protect the quarterback is not an excuse that we should accept.
Remember the statement, “We expect to compete and win now attitude.” If another coach had coached this game folks from all over would be calling for his head. Our offensive line is now the responsibility of Pioli and Haley, they had the whole off season to address it and didn’t do much at all. Its their fault and no one else. But who can we blame for the lame play calling. Wish someone could demote him. This game is the reality of the Baltimore game without the blocked punt and interception return. And boys and girls here comes one of the most feared d-lines in football. I refused to believe that Branden Albert play is a sophomore slump. The man is probably wrung so tight he is ready to pop. Its called the flip side of fear. Some folks tighten up. But hey its only the third game. I’ll like to think that is a good thing.

Pat White a Chiefs
I must first admit that I have no inside information, I've never laid eyes on Scott Pioli or met the golfer he hired. Don't have John Clayton on speed dial. I just have a gut feeling that Pat White will be drafted by our beloved Chiefs. With coach Haley's Comet like offense a QB like Pat White could be fun to watch for years to come. As we all know Mr. Pioli have yet to sign Cassel to a long term deal and he shouldn't until we can see how the young Cassel develops. Meanwhile we have a four year starter in college developing himself in a backup role. But still getting valuable playing time, in our version of the wildcat offense(Haley's Comet). Chiefs Nation wouldn't we kill for a QB controversy in three years. Well, no not really I would hope one guy stand out and establish himself as the starter. But the competitions would be fierce. I've watched Mr. White develop over four years and believe me this guy will be productive for whatever team he'll play for. And he will compete hard for the starting job one day because the young man feel he is starting material. He will not be intimidated by anyone on our roster. And most folks seems to think he will still be on the board in the fourth round. A absolute steal at that price. If drafted by our Chiefs I truly believe one day he will be our starter. BARK LONG, BARK STRONG RED AND GOLD!!
OLDIES, BUT
I believe Herm Edwards went a little far with the youth movement last year, I do feel some veteran leadership is always in order for a nice balance with youthful exuberance. But damn, do KC have enough wheelchairs for the Social Security crew we now have at linebacker. I know Lenny D. was leaving his current job, but I did not know his next job might be QB of the Chiefs. I guess Willie Lanier was to busy for us right now but its a long season. I figure Bruce Smith will be in town next, with Lawrence Taylor not to far behind. Anybody know Mike Singletary's number? Oh wait he has a job. My bad. Speaking of bad. I can see it now, by week four everyone in the league will sweep right on us because old Vrabel and older Zach will never be able to catch Barry Sanders, Oh my bad again, old Barry retired. Didn't the wheelchairs crew play against Barry. We already have two speed challenged safeties. Vrabel I believe do have a decent year left, but Thomas on the other hand is just going to get left behind. Thomas was a outstanding player in his day, but that day is long gone as will be the running backs he'll be chasing. And for the reported 2 mil, his teaching skills should be awesome, because basically that's what we will be paying for. Come to think of it our corners are not to fleet footed either. Maybe what we really need is some speed on defense. Wait I hear Deion Sanders is interested. With that said, I do like the ideal of Tank at nose tackle and maybe Dorsey at the end spot . Bark Long, Bark Strong Red And Gold!!

Greg Robinson Jr.
We just named Greg Robinson Jr. as our DC. Well, KC fans we need not to wonder what our defense will look like. Just go back to Dickie V. days and you will see a team that can score and be scored upon. Get use to scores like 35 to 30. Hopefully we will win some of those games. Hopefully. We have a DC that was not wanted by the incoming coach(Whisenhunt), but he made to retain him by management. After leading his team to the Superbowl he had the clout with management to fire the DC he did not want anyway. So for two years he did absolutely nothing to change the head coach mind. But if you check out his defensive stats you can see why he could not change the coach's mind. I'm just praying that he is just a one year DC keeping the seat warm for Crennel.
John Mitchell for DC
If we really want a outstanding Defensive Coordinator, we should take a hard look at John Mitchell, the defensive line coach for Pittsburgh. He is currently the assistance head coach also, so I believe he'll also have to have that title with us in order for us to hire him. DC/Assist. Head coach. Pittsburgh d-line has been a beast since coach Mitchell has been there. After 15 years in Pittsburgh maybe he's ready to leave to run his own defense. Lets face it, Tim Krumrie is the pits. No d-lineman has excelled under this guy. He is the d-line equal to Dick Curling my stomach. Pittsburgh d-line is the sole reason why their linebackers and safeties are as hyped as they are. Any football fan knows that the Steelers d-line has dominated for years and years. Lets bring John Mitchell to KC. Oh, and his Superbowl ring(s) would give him the complete attention of his players.
Our next coach
If Coach Edwards is let go, I'm hoping he stays, but if he is indeed shown the door I would like for us to take a good look at Todd Haley. The Cardinals OC. I like his approach, especially when relating to emotional players. Give a little, take a little than get on with your business. Anquan Boldin got emotional during a hugh game traded barbs with the OC, and the OC gave a little, took a little than got on with his job. Hell maybe he'll bring Boldin with him, who wants out of Arizona.
Let him finish
Scott Pioli coming to Chiefs Nation means that Coach Edwards and Bill Kuharich is on the right track. I kept reading that Cleveland would be the logical place for Mr. Pioli because of some connections to the Cleveland area. But after the interview the businessman sensed that maybe Pioli didn't want any part of Cleveland. So the businessman decided to hire the next best thing (in his mind) Mangini to coach his team. I think all along Mr. Pioli saw the Chiefs future and wanted in. Correct me if I'm wrong, but at no time did I hear anything about Scott Pioli remotely being interested in the Chiefs. All these wonderful characteristics being thrown around, smart, dedicated, and a outstanding evaluator of talent. Hmm, wonder why he is coming to the Chiefs. It could be the young talent, the 3rd pick and 30 mil. Yes, I have my issues with Herm's coaching, but this man has taken two teams to the playoffs and had the guts to start this rebuilding effort that obviously caught the eye of the hottest front office man in the business. And yes, I know that he will problably be let go, but if Herm agrees to fire the defensive line coach, the special teams coach and Dick Curling my stomach, than let him finish what he started.
Be Careful
If Pioli becomes the next GM of the Chiefs, wouldn't that validate what the current administration is doing. Wouldn't that tell you that we are finally headed in the right direction. After all he is only the best and brightest mind out there. At least that's what I keep reading. The Giants wanted him a few years ago and had to settle for a guy name Jerry Reese. Please check out the Giants last two drafts as far as players making and contributing to the Giants winning ways. Hey Pioli could be all that as a GM. Or he could be Jimmy Johnson. J.J. wanted most of the credit for Dallas run of Super Bowl victories. So he left to show us his stuff in Miami. (I know he got fired in a fight of egos with the other J.J.) the point is he did not accomplish much in Miami and he had complete control. So hopefully Young Clark will pick the right guy to finish what the current folks on board started. Hmm, some young talented players, some high draft picks and some serious dollars to work with, sounds good to me.
Keep Herm
All this talk about getting rid of Coach Edwards is just crazy. I don't think it would serve the Chiefs Nation well to get a new coach to continue our first year rebuilding effort that was signed off by the owner. With Clark Hunts blessing Coach Edwards took on the responsibility to load up our roster with young talented players that would be long time Chiefs whom with time and luck will develope into a team that could contend for playoffs and hopefully championships. This talk about Josh McDaniel is nauseating. I truly believe most of the Patriots success is CHEATING. I'm sorry when the commissioner burned the evidence, that told me right there that something was up. You DON'T BURN NOTHING. Any first year law student knows that. How much would it cost to have someone set up shop to film opposing teams signals, edit the film for coaches and maintain it. I don't think its cheap, so to have their coach say on national TV that it was really nothing and they got no benefit from it, is a bunch of b.s. For you folks who know about filming, how much money was the Patriots spending for nothing. So say the head coach. Let Herm Edwards continue with his effort. Coach Cowher the most overrated coach with a Super bowl win and Brian Bellick being a close second. All that talent wasted by Coach Cowher in Pittsburgh. He had more to work with than any coach during his time is Pittsburgh. He should have at least three rings. But here is the real reason that Coach Edwards deserves more time. WE CHIEF NATION SIGNED OFF on the youth movement. For those who want our young owner to show what he is made of, how about showing he is a man of convictions with loyalty to something he believes in.
