Daily Norseman OK....Are the pieces now in place for the run??????????

I am far away and from afar keeping track of our beloved Vikes and of course DN traffic as well.....

With the acquisition of Moss and(hopefully) the return-to-health of our man Rice and etc. etc. etc. are we in a position to go...all....the...way???????

Many naysayers say we are a mess....I on the other hand have a good feeling....more than last year, if that is possible, I feel we are in a position to indeed "take it all!"

Always seeking to increase he fan-dom base lol, I have been speaking to many expats like me, from lands far away from this "Las Vegas in a dish-dash" Dubai (look it up on google)....

In any case, the way is clear...to quiet the media, the blah blah blah, all we need to do is go out and start kicking a** week to week....no simpler way to stop THAT!

I am confident we will do just that...Have you ever seen a stronger Viking team than what we have now??????????????

SKOL Vikes and fans...

From afar, yet not.....

Is it Monday yet??????

Daily Norseman FAVRE PLEASE!!!!

This was an ad placed in Favre's hometown newspaper by a MN Vikes fan...NICE! Although it remains to be seen, I believe the general consensus is that he will come back. Can we expect another year like this past one from him? This also remains to be seen, but I believe he can perform close to what he did. Essential will be plugging the holes we have now from losing Hicks and Taylor, plus adding to the Oline and secondary....We should be better than last year!  Let's see?  Is it Sunday yet?

Daily Norseman Rallying Point....aka "Stoking the Fire"

I was being a lurker sifting through other fanbases' sites, when I came upon this (after the jump)....I know that the rivalry between GB and MN is alive and well...Schadenfreude lives.....Is OK, I just think back on this season and on how we went further than GB did in the playoffs, and just as importantly kicked their butts TWO times this year, and that with Favre wearing his proper colors: Purple and Gold!  Sweet.....apparently some folk over there also remember?

Something for us all to dwell on while we suffer through this long draught of MN Vikings, these two Ws. I know we have some things to look forward to over the next months like the draft, whether Favre comes back or retires, and other free agency moves the front office may make, etc. These all will help pass the time, but for me, the sweet satisfaction of us grinding GB's faces figuratively into the gound TWICE this year is enough to keep me smiling until August!

Daily Norseman Pro Bowlers Sound Off

Here is a video from fan nation with brief interviews with players. Subject: Will Favre come back? Kinda nice so thought would post here for all those who may not have seen it elsewhere. I got it from a blog site called The Silver4Fox at http://silver4fox.blogspot.com/.

Please do not forget to sign the petition, join the facebook page(s), and send out the "snail-mail" postcard asking Brett to return. Hope he comes back, but can and will respect him either way. I just want to make sure he knows we want him back!

Some updates: There are over 66,000 members of the "4 million fans want Favree to return" site on facebook, and over 21,000 members of the "Favre Come Back To The Vikings For Another Season" site on facebook. The petition numbers are climbing at a slow but steady rate (you would think we can get 10k signatures no issue with the numbers we have on facebook)...Not sure on snailmail postcards, not too much there yet (will keep pushing)...

Also of interest,  the creator of the "Favre Come Back..." facebook site  (who is 15 years old!) got some attention from the local TV station in MN. He is of course elated. Nice to see the kids get so involved, and shows how far we have come since I was that age (no computers even then lol)...

GO VIKINGS!

Daily Norseman Is It Just Me?

As many of you know, I am over here in Dubai, far far away from the fray that seems to be flying at the moment, not only here on DN, but in other places as well on the 'net and in other media formats....I do not have the hours and hours available to review all the comments and posts here (sad face), but the ones I have seem to be getting uglier and uglier?

The sensible discussion can be found here amongst the trolling, but I for one do not have the time to find them, so have largely decided to stay a step back from the fray...I for one just want Sunday to get here! Let's play some ball and see where chips (or TDs) land, and the eventual W? I have every bit of confidence in our Vikings, and I am sure Dallas fans have the same for their team...

A week or so ago, I posted a poll here as to when and if the Vikings would lose....The consensus was that we (Vikings) would take not only this game but the next one and the one after...While it is true that the majority here are Vikings fans, I am sure there were votes from outside as well (and was reflected in the number totals) that did not agree with the majority...

Nonetheless, I think it is time now to move back from bashing and name-calling/trolling to the real thing in the time remaining until the game? Either discuss intelligently what may happen or step away (as I have largely done) until the game?

I wish that the game is well played by both teams, the the reff'ing is fair and objective, that there are no major injuries, and that as NFL fans we see a truly epic game, and of course that the Vikings dominate/are victorious at the end of the battle....oh yes I wish it was Sunday LOL!

Take care all, and see you Sunday.....The Vikings are out for a W, so don't come in half-stepping Dallas, or you will go out limping...Bet on that Minnesota Nice to shake your hand on the way home though, and even offer an assist in getting back onto the horse you rode in on since you will need it! Kidding kidding!!!!

GO VIKINGS

Daily Norseman What Happens To Our Beloved Vikings? A Song, a Poll, and Synapsis to Now...

NOTE: Updated yet again (8 Jan 10)....

None of us know what will happen in the playoffs.....All of us are here though cheering our team on....Here is a song that will lift our spirits up....Enjoy! I did/do.....

Also please find a poll for fan/interested parties attached....My question: How will the Vikings fare in the playoffs? You decide! Personally I have still the hope that we will take it all.....

The most complete team we may play comes in the actual SB, and could be San Diego?.....Our NFC opponents are all beatable if we come to play as we can....The W against the Giants on 3 Jan was a good start to our run.....

A good lead into the poll.....So what is to come in your esteemed estimation fellow fans? While you ponder that question, please have a listen to this great song....

Let's all enjoy the bye week and look forward to a super showing by our Vikes! The awards and accolades have been arriving non-stop this week for our team, albeit less than glowing outlooks are predicted by the so called pundits....Let's see?

THE POLL RESULTS TO NOW...

As a synapsis, it seems that most think IF we lose it will likely be in the NFC Championship....IF we get to the SB party, there is a consensus that we will win!

I like the trends of the poll to date, and tend to agree....IF they get to the SB, they have a very good chance....no matter the opponent....

BOTTOM LINE: Get your beer and chips, the party is starting SOON!

SKOL!

Poll
How Far Will The Vikings Go in the Playoffs?
They lose their first game
11 votes
They lose their second game
14 votes
They lose their third game
3 votes
None of the above, they take it all baby!
70 votes

98 votes | Poll has closed

Daily Norseman NFC North StandingsThrough Friday 27 November

The Packers appear to be in a good position to get into the playoffs as a wild card team? Eagles 6-4, Giants 6-5, Falcons 5-5, 49ers 4-6.....

North W L T Pct PF PA Home Road Div Conf Streak
 Minnesota Vikings 9 1 0 .900 306 193 5-0-0 4-1-0 4-0-0 7-0-0 Won 3
 Green Bay Packers 7 4 0 .636 296 215 4-2-0 3-2-0 3-2-0 6-3-0 Won 3
 Chicago Bears 4 6 0 .400 206 225 3-2-0 1-4-0 1-1-0 2-5-0 Lost 3
 Detroit Lions 2 9 0 .182 193 335 2-4-0 0-5-0 0-5-0 1-8-0 Lost 1

Not sure if we should be happy because we may get a chance to beat Packers yet again this year, or hope they crash and burn and we do not see them again until next year? Guess either way does not matter...

Regarding the Bears, how will they look after Sunday's L  highlighting a probable breakout day for Viking D INTs and Peterson's best day of the year (they both are due) ?

Maybe cries for a new coach, Cutler whining/crying, more tap dancing from Da Bear fans? I have not heard too much stuff from their fans, they have been fairly quiet (I wonder why lol?)...

For the Vikings, a W on Sunday will not lock the division for us, but it will keep us well ahead of the Packers and in the hunt for HFA throughout the playoffs. We know what we can do, just need to do it (and hope NE beats NO)...

Little luck along with complete game again this weekend will keep us on our glidepath...T-day was nice, games not too impressive for me...need some Vikings action!

GO VIKINGS!

Daily Norseman AD Performance Etc. - Lost in the Drama?

First a qualification for this post: I have not had a chance to see a video of the Ravens/MN game yet, so only have what I know from the beloved DN blog and smatterings of information eleswhere from the web on a "catch as catch can" basis last night to go by.....Sooooooo....was wondering...Nobody has really commented much on AD's "game" last night....Was it good, average (for AD), or less than average?

My Opinion: From the total yards he garnered, and these against the Ravens ( vaunted running D personified!), I would say was a good day for AD? Perhaps a bright in the game spot like Favre, Rice, and.....anyone else I may have missed that did an excellent job...I fully expected ADto finally break out, it was only a matter of time....In that regard, great day...

NOTE: Thank goodness he is not injured seriously from what I am reading, we WILL be needing him again, and again, and again...

So what do the rest of you think...I know with all of the other issues that we need to address as a team (D secondary, playcalling issues/nonissues, prevent D versus close 'em down, O let up versus smack 'em down, etc.), AD performance may be not something to be discussing....BUT...bear with me...

What about other players that may have had a good performance that were not talked of too much....Anyone else do an outstanding job?

I can hardly wait to see this game...ANOTHER nail-biter!!!!! Sheeeshz!!!!!

What a season!

SKOL!!!

Daily Norseman Musings...Ready For Some Football?

I just got done finally getting to see the Monday Night Football Game between the Packers/Vikings....WOW! Of course I knew the outcome, and had followed as best possible the morning (night) of actual gametime, but seeing it on my laptop in HD....again WOW! It took a couple of days to obtain the game, and I was saving it to provide a "kick start" for today's (tomorrow US time) game...

This game, and tonight's  foosball (soccer) match between Germany and Russia for qualifying in the World Cup Soccer Cup next year (watched THIS live luckily...Germany won and directly qualifies now for the tournament) made up for the Twin loss on Friday (dang it, I that was a heartbreaker!)...

NOTE: It is funny, but the main "watched/followed" sports over here are the English Premier  League (soccer), Rugby, and Cricket (yawn on the last two!!!)....Only the Super Bowl seems to get much attention (and not much)...I am in a vaccum somewhat for NFL fandom!

Coming back to our Vikings, I guess for tomorrow's game, I am looking for us to unleash AD on them for at least 150 yards, along with more of the great passing/teamwork between Favre and the receivers for another 200 yards. I expect the defense will have as great a week as they had Monday....Bottom Line, I feel almost (only almost) sorry for the Rams!I think we will dominate in every aspect of this game (and must if we are to continue to prove/improve)...

Why am I making such a rosy assessment based mainly on nothing but gut (of course there are those bothersome statistics and other "facts" or near facts like we are 4-0, they are 0-4, we have many great players versus a few good ones, etc., but we all know about facts/suppositions, right???)?

What I saw tonight (and knew) was that this Viking team is "gelling" (sp?) like some of the others we have had in the past - BUT the difference I see this year is that we have more of the tools (talent) and a balanced set of tools (offense, defense, special teams, a nice mix of Pro Bowlers/potential Pro Bowlers) now than we had during those heyday years (wherein BTW, I lost a good bit of money in Superbowl appearances/playoffs we lost)...

Wrapping up my first Fanpost, I just want to say becoming a member of this fan/blog site has made the games/Vikings/year much more meaningful....Thanks to all for that, and see you here tonight (errrrrr...tomorrow your time?)...NOTE: This is the first place I come to when surfing instead of working daily!    ; )

I am READY FOR SOME (MORE) FOOTBALL! Let's take it to them!

OH YEAH: What is your prediction for the performance/final score of the Vikings/Rams game? Am I just looking through Rose-Colored glasses or what?

  SKOL Brothers and Sisters!!!!
