I'm 26 and grew up in Pennslyvania. For the past three years i've resided in NY. I've been a loyal viking fan since my first memories of them. My uncle past them on to my dad, who then, got me into them. They say because of the smash mouth defense in the 70's. And the horrendous battles in the once respected black and blue division.

Suck it up and move the hell on!!!

Today we lost.  That's for sure and whether we complain about our QB's, RB's or Secondary it was a flaw by the team as a whole.  We can blame anyone but that won't change what happened today now will it?  We beat ourselves.   Matt Ryan didn't impress me, nor did Turner.  We fumbled the ball over and over and we failed to pounce on a fumbled Falcon ball in the endzone and quite frankly the defense forgot how to tackle.  Yet, we sit here and talk about benching everyone.  Bullshit...

This is what the Vikings do in a situation like this.  This is what has haunted this franchise for decades and this is why most fans can't sleep in december.  We need to just win next week and we are in.  If we don't win we simply shouldn't be in the playoffs anyway.  Today's game was a heart breaker and all we can do is blame this one and that one.  Peterson, had a horrible game but so what.  He'll come back and claim his throne again.  It's not the end of the road.  And he'll fumble again, I'm certain of that.  This is something he'll have to work on himself.  It's his problem, he needs to work it out.

I'd hate to see what some of us would do in the Owners shoes.  We would've had three different Coaches and ten different QB's by now in just this one season.  Let's just hold our damn breath and wait it out.  Crying makes us look like a bunch of Packer or Bear fans.  Vikings never cry, they continue to battle, even if the battle is lost.  The Vikings will at least live to battle another day.

GO VIKINGS!!!!

One season at a time fellas!!!

Minnesota fans, whether you live there or not, know the Vikings' history all to well.  We've been to four SB's and haven't even one under our belts.  In recent years we've been to two NFC championship games and lost both.  One, the dreaded 98 NFC championship game and the slaughter the Giants gave us in 2000.

I know how the rest of you feel.  It's quite depressing but look at us this year.  9-5 and the third best team in the NFC.  In other words, I like our chances this year.  Whether Gus or Jackson I feel that both men have proved to be successful no matter what some may say.  Just look at the record.  T-Jack has come into his own the last two games and has been in control both outings, thus turning opinions around about him.

I myself have been hard on Jackson for his first two starts of the season, but then I think, this is now and those two games seem old history.  The fact of the matter is this.  Minnesota fans are used to being disappointed and this makes our heads strong about what should be done for next season.  Don't fear fellow fans, I think we may have something going for us this year.  We've got two tough games ahead and we should take them one at a time.  We should'nt be worried who our QB will be next year or who will Coach the team next year.

Brad Childress has staind some of us and may not earn our respect but you've gotta see the big picture.  The man is turning the team around.   Yes, he's made mistakes but let's not jump the gun.  Some of us are already talking of 2009 but why?

We've got two winning QB's on the team.  We've got the best running back this year and C. Taylor is a force to reckon with.  Our run defense is feared and our secondary is actually proving themselves.    We have a tough TE and some good receivers.  Why question it anymore?  It is what it is.

The moral of this is that we need to praise our team at this time of  the season.  Let's sit back and enjoy the ride.  We will prevail and we will stand the test of time.  We are the Vikings we hope for nothing but wish for everything.  I think this year our wish will come true and you see us on top.  Stay possitive and stay true to the purple!

My thoughts on today's game.

This is quite early but I have to get this done since the game is still strong in my memory.  First off, congradulations to Peterson for a record setting day.  Peterson got the ball 28 times for 165 yards.  This is his fifth game this season with over 150+ yards rushing a game.  The Cardinals run defense truly showed why they're dead last in that statistic.  Don't forget Chestor Taylor touched the ball 10 times for another 66 yards in our offense "kick ass" performance.

Finally, our special teams came out of the wood work and performed.  Berrian had a nice punt return early in the first quarter and set the pace for our dominate offense later on in the first quarter.

After much of the opinions coming from the QB situation I will for now, keep my mouth shut in respect for a proving Tavaris Jackson.  He shut a lot of us up today and I can't argue with his performance.  I just wish he'd put the ball more in the air.  4 TD's however, and I can't complain much about his performance.  He came out today set to win.   Good job for him.

Congradulations on a new thread record Viking friends.  I was going through the SBN football sites and the other sites didn't even come close.  What a great community Gonzo has started.   I'm proud to be top 5 for my 101 "kick ass" comments.

Hello Bless You Boys

I'm new too this site so I'm hoping to share opinions with all of you about the Tigers.  I've been a fan since around 2003.  I'm a Minnesota Viking fan, yet a Minnesota Twins hater all in one.  Weird, I know!

I haven't been keeping up in the off season lately because of the NFL season but I'm looking to grab anything new on here.

I'm thinking Brandon Inge should become a bigger part of the lineup.   What do you guys think?

All Viking friends, I would like your two and a half cents

For the past two years I've been feuding with my supervisor over who's got more wins the Jets or the Vikings in a single season.  Last year, I won.  The prize was a Viking jersey of my choosing.  Naturally, I went with the #28 and wore it with pride.  This year, so far, the Jets and the Vikings have the same number of wins.  So what I'm asking is who should I make him buy me if I win the bet again for the second year in a row?  You might laugh but I really would like a Frerotte jersey.  But somehow I don't see him coming back for the purple next year.  So I'm going to try and narrow it down to a few.  Let me know who you guys think should I win the bet.  I know there are 3 more games yet but by the time the Vikes win I'll have my order in already with the help of my Viking family.  Here are some I've wanted.  Just give me a name please.

Gus Frerotte

Berrian

C. Taylor

Shank

Allen

P. Williams

K. Williams

Winfield

Frerotte out; Jackson in.

Gus Frerotte being out may make some people jump up and down with joy because now T-Jack is back in the starting role as QB.  Let me tell you what.  He better get us somewhere or a lot of people will be calling for his head by the Giants game.

Now is his time to shine and he better make something of it.  Hopefully he is better in the pocket and hopefully his Coach has more confidence in him.  Is it me, or does Chilly show no confidence in this kid?  To me, that's a bad thing.  Open the playbook and let him prove himself.

I'm just wondering what AP is saying right now?  Probably something like "I'll rush for over 130+ yrds. a game resulting only in field goals".  Jackson should, as the QB take some of the load too.

I'm only glad Jackson took this position while Gus is down.  I don't think he would've gotten the nod with a healthy Gus in there anyway.  If Jackson does his job on sunday i'll shut up but until then, he hasn't shown much of anything.  Many of you won't like it but look at our record.  With an old man behind center we've managed to be dominate in our division.  Something we've lacked in the past few years.

I'm only wishing the best and speedy recovery to Gus.  Although it's far past his time I feel he came in and did his job the best to his abilities.  Sure, he threw INT's but who doesn't?  Bottom line is, when you have it good don't ask for something else.  Meaning, he's not great but he did fit in and got us the wins.  He'll go down as a winning QB for MINNESOTA.  Also, his and Berrians 99 yrd catch is now my new favorite Viking  memory.  Thanks for that anyway.

I'm wishing our new QB the best of luck.  I'm guessing he might need it but i'll cheer for him all the way.  He's wearing purple and he's a brother.

You wanted him now we've got him!  Playoffs....here we come?

GO JACKSON GO!!!!

MY THOUGHTS FOR AN UNDERDOG

Last night in our game thread I said that I was "hoping" Gus would have a great game.  Well, after the last few games, I was actually right! Before this season I never liked or payed much attention to Gus Frerotte.  When Minnesota decided to pick him in the off-season I was a little dissapointed.

Anyone who has read any of my comments or blogs should know by now that i'm not the biggest Tavaris Jackson fan.  However, I do blame that bald headed bastard for Jackson's NFL demise as a Viking.  This kid should have never been held on a pedistol.  He throw only 9 TD in his year and half of play time.  Too bad Childress and company didn't notice this earlier and maybe we could've pick up someone like Pennington when the Jets screwed him over for Favre.

Which brings me to my point.  When Gus was hit way late and the moron refs didn't call it, I was shocked to see some (not pointing fingers) hoping Gus would be hurt, down and out, swept under the rug, for T-Jack to come take another hack.  I've seen this on some of the comments to.  I'm discouraged by this because I look at this man as some what of a saviour to this team.  Granted Peterson is the show and when he's not in Taylor helps as well, but last year when Peterson went down, our Francise QB didn't even take command.  (I'm hoping someone on here has the stats for how many TD's T-Jack threw when Adrian was sidelined last year for a few games.  I'm pretty sure he didn't have too many, if any at all!)  My only hope is that we as fans stay off his back for a little while and realize whether anyone likes it or not Gus helped us get to first place last night.  Something Johnson and Tavaris didn't achieve in the past two years.  I'm not hoping for some long term deal with Gus, but I'm glad to call him a first place QB for us now.  Everyone doubts an underdog and hopefully this underdog turns this season into something we haven't seen in many years.  Hopefully it bites all who oppose in their asses.

Now, I know a lot of people on here will disagree which is your right, but look at where we are right now!  It's not the coaching I can tell you that.  Our Defense is strong and our offense does need some work still, but first place is where we stand.  The north is ours!!!

GUS, I GOT YOUR BACK.

Who will make the most impact?

Since 2006 under Childress's law The Minnesota Vikings have not defeated the Green Bay Packers.  It's been a long time coming for the purple and many of us not only want and desire a win, but, DEMAND a win from our players and Head Coach.  This could be a defining game for us in our division.  In the weeks ahead we have the Chicago Bears, and Detriot Lions.  If we plan on showing dominance in our divison it should start sunday at the dome.  Take a look at the past Green Bay scores, since 2006.

2006 week 10

Green Bay - 23

Minnesota - 17

2006 week 16

Green Bay - 9

Minnesota - 7

2007 week 4

Green Bay - 23

Minnesota - 16

2007 week 10

Green Bay - 34

Minnesota - 0

So who do you guys think will be the difference maker on Sunday?

Gus Frerott

Adrian Peterson

Chester Taylor

Bernard Berrian

Sidney Rice

Leaders of men

Fast forward to 2009 season.  Brad Childress's office is now empty.  He's just had his last rounds with the owner and is given the long deserved 'Pink Slip'.  From the ashes of the past three seasons come a new leader.  You!  Yes you the one demanding and pleading for a better season.  Your now the new Head Coach.

So where do you start?  Gus obviously is not the long term answer.  So then, who is?  And who would you give the opportunity to over come such odds in the National football league?

Brad is history, now our future depends on some wise decisions and a  new coaching staff.  Who comes and who do you let go?

Here are some obvious problems that you need to deal with.  Make you decisions wisely, you only have a one year contract.

Our QB situation.  Fix it!

Special teams have been lacking.  Where do we weed out the problems?

Do we go for another reciever?

Do you want to stabilize an offense with J.D. Booty?

Is our Offense line up to par?

How about defense, secondary?

Will you bring in your own coaching staff?

How do you punish players with off the field conduct?  Even if they are your very best.
