Are we all being a little too hard on Jonny Flynn?

I got the idea to write this when listening to him give an interview and talk about how tough it has been coming back from his hip surgery. Granted it is a good PR move to use that as an excuse as long as it is believable and I myself have never had sugery. However I have torn some ligaments in my ankle in high school and I remember how hard it was to come back from that and that didn't require surgery. Granted high school ball and the NBA don't even compare but I can see how its been tough for him to have that explosiveness he is acustom to. And would defninitely show why his defense has been so porous. Brandon Roy has missed his explosivesness all year and we see where that has taken him. Sidney Rice had the same surgery on his hip and was a serviceable WR but not quite the guy we were used to last year. Flynn relies on his quick play like many small athletic PGs do and right now I'm not sure if he has it or not.

Then there is the continuous triangle offense debate that we have all had on this site. It seems not to be fitting what he does well as a player. So maybe its a coaching scheme. We all know how Rambis has been criticized for not changing the system to fit the players he has.

Last year as a rookie and with just under 30 minutes a game Flynn averaged 13.5 ppg, 4.4 assists, a couple of boards, a steal, and slightly under 3 turnovers a game. If he didn't have to have surgery and he improved on these numbers we would have all given him praise and he would be considered a legit NBA player by us all I think.

As we have seen with our new favorite players K-Love, Beasley, and Darko one offseason can make a huge impact on your career. Wether its trading a guy to unclog your posistion and let you get the minutes you finally deserve. Trade you out of a bad situation. Or let you actually play at all after getting back into shape. I don't know what Jonny needs but the kid can play ball and he showed us flashes of brilliance last year...

Still I would rather us had taken Curry or even Jennings at the draft but his career is way to soon to call a bust. Let him fully be comftorable on that hip that was disected like a frog in a 5th grade science class and let Rambis stop playing mind games with the kid. He's only getting 16 minutes a game. That is almost half of last years minutes. Simplify things for him and let him play ball. Heck how much worse can it possibly be? I mean we are 10-35 at this point anyways.

Carmelo Anthony Could be a T-Wolf

OK so this post may sound a little crazy at first but here me out. I think the Wolves could actually land Anthony and until about 10 minutes ago I never thought so. Here are the reasons.

1. We have a ton of assets and like Denver said earlier in the season we are one of two teams that they would trade Melo to. The other would be New Jersey.

2. It is now more than ever apparent that Melo will be only joining a team where he can team up with other superstars like his boy Lebron.

Now I know people are clammoring for him to go to New York and play with Amare and maybe CP3 signs there as a FA in the future. But thats two years away and the Knicks will have zero assets to trade for him this offseason if they trade for Melo. After Randolph, Gallinari, and some picks that end up being late 1st rounders I'm not sure what they can offer.

So this begs this question are the real superstars that he is looking to play with in Minnesota?

There is Kevin Love and if you ask most GMs who would you rather have Love or Amare I think almost all would say Love hands down. Plus Amare is playing on some reconstructed knees and Melo knows that.

There is the PG of the future in Rubio. Anthony played against him in the Olympics and knows how good this kid is. His Jumper needs work but he will get Melo plenty of open looks thats for sure. Who does New York got? Felton, who is having a good year in a uptempo system offensively.

Then there is Beasley.

I think first of all to do the trade you have to include Beasley which I think I would be totally against. Beasley to me has been the leader of this team, he gets on people's a$$es more than the coaches do. Once he gets his fouls in order he will put up numbers comparable or even better than Anthony.

Then of course he has to sign an extension before the trade goes down. Which is the big reason that Melo hasn't been traded to New Jersey yet anyways.

I think Anthony might be open to the idea but would Minnesota now that they are seeing the future in Love and Beasley?

Sure he could go to New York sign and extension and make the playoffs but they're going to get bounced with the team they've got now more than likely. Or he could come to Minnesota and play with a better PF with a brighter and longer future in Love and gamble that Rubio becomes what he is expected to be and thats way more than Felton and CP3 going to NY is no sure bet.

A Look Back at the McHale Moves (The Ones that are Relevant to This Current Team)

Roy for Foye

The Beginning of the end for KG’s stay in Minnesota. Right now people are looking at this one as more of a wash with Roy’s bum knee. I still say he’ll be more productive on one knee than Foye is with two. Randy is already on his third team and Roy is still the franchise in Portland. The good thing about Roy is his knee has a possible chance to get healthier. Randy doesn’t have much to hope for except

maybe he becomes a productive 7th man off the bench someday. The great thing

about Randy is he became part of the trade that brought Rubio here. Way to go Khan, at this point you look like the winner unless Rubio becomes a bust then you may end up broadcasting with him on TNT. Oh wait C-Webb despises you and your personality stinks.

Mayo for Love and Mike Miller

The last two years this might have gone to Mayo and against McHale however since somebody figured out how stinking productive Love is he is now leading the league in rebounds, double doubles, and probably a crap load of other efficient categories. Mayo is riding the bench and can’t find his rhythm anymore. Kudos McHale I guess that whole "Quickness in small spaces theory" turned out not to be a bunch of crap after all. This trade also helped us land Rubio with Mike Miller being the #2 piece along with Foye to get the Wizards pick. (Maybe Flip is secretly trying to help MN get better the way McHale helped Boston). We also got to unload Marco Jaric’s butthole of a contract. Don’t worry I’ll get to the whole Jaric thing soon enough.

Blah….I just threw up in my mouth thinking about this one. Unless Minnesota figures it out quick this move could come back to bite us in a bad bad way. My ultimate fear is that they get this pick in the year there is another Lebron/Wade/Melo/Bosh type of draft class. Jaric was awful for us (he and KG never got along) I still remember when he played for LA and KG hit the game winner in regulation afterwards in an interview KG says about Marco "How you gonna talk all that crap and you can’t even speak English?" Insensitive and biast absolutely on KG’s part and it shows they didn’t like each other.

And seriously how in the hell did he marry this woman?

I just don't get it.

I don’t think McHale was a terrible basketball mind. He could sure as hell spot a big man. KG, Big Al, & K-Love were all calls by him and he could really coach these guys in footwork. But he’s a terrible GM because he can’t select guards worth a crap. I actually loved him as a coach. I still remember that 11-2 January record he posted until Big Al tore his ACL against New Orleans. Maybe there was something more to be there but fate wouldn’t allow it.

Beasley, T-Wolves New Leader! Future Captain?

Total speculation but last I heard the T-Wolves have no team captain and I think its smart for Rambis to wait this one out to see who emerges. I was at the Wolves/Hawks game here last Friday and noticed one thing. Beasley doesn't quit and he gets on guys like a real leader.

K-Love seemed to be in a piss fest all first half and after giving up on a play after falling backwards over one of Atlanta's bigs Rambis takes him out of the game. Immediately Beasley comes over to the bench yelling "Don't put his @$$ back in the game."

Beasley goes on to put in all out effort the rest of the game and later after K-Love gets his head on straight he was encouraging to him after being a hard ass on him in the first half. Helping him off the floor when he falls (which is a lot by the way) and scoring 16 points following the game he had that nasty hip injury.

They went on to put together two amazing performances and played ATL a whole lot tougher today in their arena. I don't know who Rambis will eventually name captain, maybe he names Love and Beas together maybe somebody else but I can tell you for sure watching these guys 6 rows behind the teams bench last Friday night that Beasley is the leader for sure.

Was it Khan or was it luck?

OK we are a whole two games into the season so I'm not going to go crazy here and offer up the T-Wolves as being a contender. The sample is small but so far it is o-so tasty. Much like getting a really tasty piece of pizza from the sample lady at Costco, it won't fill you up but it tastes sooo good. Especially when you have been eating tastless blandless food since 2002 when we enjoyed one of the most tastiest meals of our lives.

In my humble opinion Beasley is the biggest difference by far on this team so far and it seems that he just fell into our laps. Had it not been for Bosh and James jumping ship to Miami they would probally still have Beasely or we would have had to give up much more to get him. I know its been said that not a lot of teams wanted Beasley even for the 2nd rounder we gave up to get him. To me that seems hard to believe that the Knicks/Clippers or some other dismal franchise wouldn't give up anything to take a chance on this guy. I mean somebody out there had to think a 2nd rounder was enough.

Fairness in conversation he made a lot of other moves this year that will impact the team but the Bealey one is the most prevalent with the amount of playing time he will recieve and the amount of shots he will take. I just want to know do you think it was Khan or do you think it was luck? If there was some other reason then state it below.

Why did we trade Al within the division?

I'm going to need somebody to explain why on earth you would take your best player and dump him within your own division for a couple of mid first rounders, something called Koufas, and a TPE? I understand that we were going to part ways with him for a TPE and other things like what we got but why within the division? He's around 25 so now we gotta deal with Al for a long long time possibly on a much more consistent basis. If we do contend for a division title we just gave one of our top competitors a shot in the arm. Am I looking into this way to much or is it a bigger deal than it has been made out to be so far?

After making the trade for Craig Smith and Sebastian Telfair last year they are going to sign free agents Ryan Gomes and Randy Foye to deals now. Nothing huge I think Gomes is a 3 year 12 million and Foye is 2 years 8.5 million. Never the less they have one third of our 2008 squad so I must ask do they know something we don't know? Or is it just the usual Clippers organization stuff where they are the laughing stock of the league? After all they did pick Olowakandi #1 overall. (I think that I just wrote this so I could feel better about our beloved squad).

Its stretching the imagination here but lets pretend. I'm sure if Boston fans said something like this before they somehow traded for Allen and KG they would've been laughed at too.

1st trade

Do a sign and trade for Bosh with Big Al + pick 23 + Gomes or filler if needed to Toronto

2nd Trade

CP3 I think is gonna be moved eventually cause his surrounding cast is so bad and I think Collison is gonna be a great PG.

Trade Rubio and Charlotte pick to New Orleans + anything else needed to New Orleans (Maybe Hollins) for CP3.

This still leaves us with our top pick and since we are dreaming we get you guessed it Evan Turner.

We still have Flynn, Pek, Ellington, Brewer, Darko?, and should still have some cap space to work with.

We may have to trade a couple more of the above assets to get it done and we could still land a pretty stellar FA after all this.

But hey you would've been called a fool in Boston before Danny Ainge pulled off the deals of the decade. Maybe I'm right on and maybe I couldn't be further from the truth but I can still dream.

Maybe I'm reaching on this one but hey whatever. After this year KG has two years left on his deal. I just wanted to see what people thought of the chances that KG ever suits it up in a blue 21 jersey again. Odds are it won't be through a trade because his contract is so phat right now. Maybe Boston releases him after next year and he signs with us when hopefully we have it figured out. What are your thoughts Canis Hoopus?
