Ridiculous Upside Fort Wayne Outscored 37-19 in Fourth; Lose in Overtime.

My night started out bad last night.  While driving to the game I heard that Chris Hunter was going to be inactive.  I knew we would have our hands full because Sean Sonderleiter was going to be getting some major minutes.  I was ok with that because if there is one thing Sean gives you, it's his full effort.  I thought Sean played very well tonight.  He never shy's away from anybody and enjoys challenging anybody who gets in his way going to the basket.

However, watching that 4th quarter tonight was like going to the dentist and getting a root canal.  You could just tell that this one was slipping through our hands, after each David Bailey drive or each of Frank Williams 3's. I'm still puzzled on how "little" David Bailey can just keep driving through the lane without any defender stepping up and providing helpside defense.  Bailey went 12-for-23 tonight. What that doesn't tell you is that out of the 12 makes, I would guess maybe ten were layups.  The guy is 5'8" and he was a bigger factor tonight on the inside than any of our bigs!

This team just seems to crumble anytime when the chips are down.  What on earth happened at Iowa?  To lose by 35 is not  acceptable, especially since they played with two of their better players called up to the NBA. Losing any game by 35 points should serve as a wake up call, and I would imagine judging from tonights game that the call was clearly unanswered.

Is this where we are just going to fold?  Or is this the time where we find out how much heart this team has.  With the last 2 games after the break I am a little concerned where we might be heading, or where the heads are, following the 35 point spanking, and this fourth quarter collapse. Hopefully we can come back on Thursday and play like our backs are against the wall, because right now, that's exactly where we are.

Play Hard Ants!
