I have been a baseball fan nearly all of my life. My father was a Dodgers fan from back in the days of the Brooklyn Dodgers. In my competitive and open-minded way of thinking, it became clear to me that I did not want to be one of those people who only roots for the team that is in my home area, just because I happen to live there. So, I did not follow in my dad's footsteps and did not become an absent-minded fan of the Lakers, Dodgers / Angels, etc. Back in those days, I was a fan, first, of players and evolved into choosing teams that I would root for based on that. Furthermore, as I have gotten older, management and team ownership goes a long way with who I allow myself to endear myself to as well.
I am a proud member of the Red Sox nation, though I have still never been to Boston, nor visited the hallowed Fenway Park to this day. Some day, I will. Until then, I continue to cheer them on heartily, much to the chagrin of all of my Angels-loving friends and family members.
