Jimenez is in fabulous shape after an offseason of working on his core and lower half
aaaannnnnddddd
And even if [Fausto and Leo] make it past those hurdles, every indication is that both players will then be disciplined by the commissioner's office for falsifying their identities. So they're likely to have to serve some sort of suspension weeks or even months from now. In other words, don't expect to see either on a big league pitcher's mound any time soon.
Manny Corked Bats With Tribe?
Ran across this on twitter. Interesting story.
Dan Wheeler: Indian/Clipper

The Blue Jays signed another ex-Indian infielder.
Andrew Bailey to BOS for Reddick
What is Beane doing? This is as bad as the Cahill deal, no?

Knew he'd get claimed.

there is no more typical deal that could have been made here.
Pomeranz arrested in Mississippi
I'm just full of links this afternoon. This came out of nowhere.
Radinsky is new pitching coach
"Also Tom Wiedenbauer named 1B/outfield/baserunning coach and Dave Miller elevated to Bullpen Coach."
Hopefully Radinsky isn't missed down in the bullpen.
Source: Acta Considering Becoming Player-Manager
CLEVELAND— As injuries continue to mount for the Cleveland Indians, their manager has a unique plan to come up with an additional fresh body.
Manny Acta, 42, batted .257 with 35 RBI just twenty seasons ago with the A Burlington Astros. That's the A Burlington Astros, not a specific Burlington Astro—although Acta has been referred to many times as "The Astro." Reached for comment Friday evening, Acta conceded "I would never compare myself to a great like Chris Hatcher but, yeah, I was probably better than Benny, Smithy, Smithy and Chavy."
General Manager Chris Antonetti told a media gathering this morning that he was looking forward to "plugging [Acta] in" and "laughing hysterically at the computer screen" but said "Our assets just went up infinitely, because previously we had no fresh bodies and now we have one."
He said making the roster move would be difficult but thankfully there is a pitcher on the 40-man roster who couldn't get out hitters in AAA Columbus.
Corey Kluber is that man, and he did not seem happy with the recent development. "I got traded for a guy who keeps hitting grand slams, and I say 'that could be me–I could be that guy' but I guess there's always room for me in Ed Wade's Houston [bull]pen."
"I mean, come on—I got one batter out in my minor league career, and that was Manny Acta," Kluber added. "I can see why even Eddie had no use for him."
The Indians hope Kluber is wrong and Acta's ability to swat doubles and snag grounders remains in tact. Until he gets injured.
White to Rockies rotation, Pomeranz out for the season
White will start Tuesday, August 23 vs. Houston. Not what would have happened for him in Cleveland this year.
UPDATE: Pomeranz underwent an emergency appendectomy Saturday night and will be out for the rest of the season.
Delmon Young traded within division
to Detroit, specifically.
RHP Mitch Talbot outrighted to AAA Columbus
He has no prior outrights, has to accept the assignment
good.
Poll! Will the 2011 Indians finish above .500?
No longer is the only possible survey question "will we make the playoffs?" ... no, this team's performance of late has opened the door for a more depressing one.
Talbot injury "found"!! Zeke to CLE.
Talbot's next start will be taken by Jeanmar Gomez. He will face the Orioles on Saturday.
Choo's Thumb is Broken
Friday was a bad day for the Indians.
RHP Jason Knapp underwent right shoulder surgery on Tuesday in New York
Knapp's surgery was to "stabilize and tighten the anterior aspect of the shoulder" according to VP of player development Ross Atkins.
Knapp will miss all of the 2011 season. He's scheduled to begin a rehab program in six weeks. The goal is to have him ready for next spring.
"That's our bullpen in a nutshell -- we're all here except for Raffy"
That is the code of the American League Central-leading Indians, or at least of their "Bullpen Mafia," as they are affectionately known around social media. Six of the seven relievers on their active roster arrived in a big van at 10:30 a.m. ET on Friday and stayed for nearly three hours, the most players ever at once to visit Major League Baseball's palatial game-watching hub in Manhattan.
Newsflash: Shapiro Can Trade; Bavasi is Dumb
Bill Bavasi said the M's were trying to send a message to the fan base and the players that the club was serious about winning.
"We were trying to get better fast,'' Bavasi said in an email. "Believe me, in Seattle there was no taste for a five-year plan, and no matter how things turned out, I respect that attitude. The 2006 club was sort of starting to get it together and we believed it was important for the players to see we were serious about … maybe not winning … but at least getting better now.''
"Bob was really upset as the year went on and Eduardo sat,'' Bavasi said. "As opposed to the Choo deal, I thought, 'The GM of this Seattle club is a f---ing idiot.'''

Joe Maddon Gets to Know Manny
"To this point, it's working," said an executive of one club that has played the Rays this spring. "I've seen him twice, and he looks like he's got his swagger back. And we all know that when Manny has his swagger, he's dangerous. And I give all the credit to Joe Maddon. There's something about a guy like Joe that can bring out the best in a guy like Manny.
