A couple links to take your mind off the losing streak
Sure, the O's haven't looked very good over the past four games. Does that mean everything is going horribly for the organization right now? No!
Camden Chat Fantasy Football League?
I was thinking that, with the end of the season approaching, news and excitement is going to slow around here.
It's been a great deal of fun coming here throughout the season (great work, SC), reading about the state of
things with the Orioles, and sharing opinions with fellow O's fans.
So, with that in mind, how about we set up a little fantasy football league over at espn.com?
This way we can continue to build our little community of online Orioles fans. Also, its free, so why not?
Latest on the Burnett Trade
From the Washington Post:
Florida Marlins pitcher A.J. Burnett would be receptive to signing a long-term contract with the Orioles if Baltimore made a strong push for the right-hander, according to his agent, though several sources say they have not yet engaged in any serious trade talks.
Sources confirmed Burnett is on the market despite the fact that Florida is still in contention in the National League East. One baseball source said the Boston Red Sox inquired about Burnett on Tuesday.
"After an extension wasn't signed in spring training, we knew this scenario was likely," said Darek Braunecker, Burnett's agent.
Baltimore is a destination Burnett would accept because his wife is from the area.
"We certainly would discuss the Orioles or other clubs that lie in that geographical region," Braunecker said.
Interleague play
With interleague play opening up this coming weekend, I thought it would be interesting to take a quick look at the relative strengths of the different schedules of the AL East teams. One of the things that infuriates the anti-interleague segment is the fact that teams within the same division play different opponents, sometimes creating a much easier road for one team. I think you'll find that this is the case this season.
The Lesson of Keith Reed
The callup of Keith Reed shows exactly how barren the Orioles minors are, especially in regard to position players.
In terms of major league outfielders, we now have Bigbie, Gibbons, Newhan, and Surhoff available. Not exactly stellar. We definitely need another OF (or 2) on the big league roster. So what are our choices? Let's take a look:
