Big Cat Country My scientific draft poll

Setting aside scenarios mentioned in jaggernaut's previous post (trade down or trade Henderson, etc.) I took a sampling of 10 mock drafts. These are the combined results:

These players should definitely be off the board come time for the Jags to select-

N. Suh, E. Berry, G. McCoy, R. Okung, J. Haden, J. Claussen, S. Bradford, & A. Davis. Possibly added to this list is D. Bryant & C. Dunlap. Bruce Campbell popped up a few times here, too.

With the exception of Davis, Bryant, Dunlap & Campbell, should any of the above fall to us, I would think they'll be selected by us (BAP).

The most selected draft choice for the Jags is Tim Tebow (4), the next most selected was Derrick Morgan (3), then Jason Pierre-Paul (2).

Taylor Mays and Rolando McClain are in the vicinity.

These are not my selections, just statistically how they fell. Personally, I'm in favor of getting our second round pick back, however Gene can make it happen.

Big Cat Country Brian Williams & Tony Pashos, cut & benched

I know it's only preseason game #1, but the play of these two guys last night irked me to no end. So, I gotta get it of my chest.

What I saw was an extension of their last season's pathetic performances. I hate to say it, but I think Mr. Williams should go. Derek Cox would do no worse and he has all the upside.

Tony Pashos should come off the bench as a reserve. Eben Britton should start.

In my mind there is no question here. And if you want to blame poor D-line play, ie, no rush, then you still go with Derek over Brian cause we are rebuilding and don't have the high expectations we'll have next year. Give Derek the year of experience.

When the stadium lights come on and the games are for real, these two guys seem to completely lose focus. Send in the rookies anytime.

Big Cat Country Jarett Dillard has been signed

Per Vic at Jaguars.com-

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed wide receiver Jarett Dillard, their fifth-round selection in this year’s college draft, to a contract. Length and terms of the contract are undisclosed.

Dillard, 23, was the 144th player drafted overall in April following his collegiate career at Rice. He set numerous school, conference and NCAA records as he completed his career with 292 receptions for 4,138 yards and 60 touchdowns. His 60 career receiving touchdowns eclipsed the previous NCAA mark of 50 by Troy Edwards. Dillard is the only player in college football history to produce two seasons with 20 or more touchdown catches.

The 5-10, 187-pound Dillard started in 46 of his 49 college games and was the first player in his school’s history to receive all-conference honors three straight seasons. As a senior last year, Dillard scored 20 touchdowns while catching 87 passes for 1,310 yards. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Dillard attended Sam Houston (Tex.) High School where he graduated first in his class and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Dillard is the third Jaguars draft choice to sign a contract, leaving six unsigned rookies. The team is scheduled to report to training camp on Aug. 2.

Big Cat Country The renewed interest in T. Holt

Makes me wonder if the Jags were planning to trade down and select Percy Harvin. They spent some time checking him out on his pro day, and I haven't heard much about the Jags taking more interest in any other receivers. Because of Harvin's "error in judgement", could it be the Jags are rethinking their draft and decided that Holt is now more of a priority than he was initially?

I always thought they would take Raji or Andre Smith at number 8 and get their wide receiver in the second round, unless of course they trade down. Then my scenario was trade down with Denver and select Harvin. I now think that's out and really can't see a definite pick at 12 anymore. I still feel that they might take a receiver in the second round, but at 12, it will be BPA now, definitely.
