Tonight was Memphis Wrestling Night at the Redbirds game. After the game, there was an hour-long wrestling show on the field.

The main event featured Jerry "The King" Lawler...I don't remember who he was up against, but it was Sid Vicious' brother.

At the beginning, Lawler came out with Rick Eckstein, Tagg Bozied, and Rick Ankiel and said if anybody other than his opponent comes out there, for the Redbirds to take care of it.

Long story short, Eckstein ended up flying in from the top turnbuckle to finish the match. Ankiel and Bozied also got to "beat the crap out of" a guy (obviously fake -- this is pro wrestling, but it was still extremely funny). It joins the Reyes-Gallardo matchup as the two highlights of the year.

John Rodriguez has four homers in his last three games, all of the 400-plus variety. He hit a 423-footer today that landed in the picnic pavilion area in right field in Memphis, then his next time up, he hit one out to left-center that hit a light at the back of the bullpen.

In other Memphis-related news, interesting to see the Brian Esposito Era end so quickly...he didn't even have to get an out to get sent back.

He pretty much sucked. No command.

His stuff looked ok, but he couldn't throw his fastball by anybody and if they know an 80's fastball is coming, they'll eventually start launching it. Seemed like he was throwing a little harder than he had been earlier in the year, but still not enough to actually get it by someone sitting on fastball.

I'll have a deeper, almost pitch-by-pitch breakdown later tonight or sometime tomorrow.
