Tyson Jackson for Richard Seymour?
I brought up a thread about 3-4 games into the season last year saying that I would've rather traded our 1st round pick from last year to the Pats for Seymour than draft T. Jackson.
I got so much flak on the board about it that I almost got kicked off. At the time, I knew I was right and that it would eventually reveal itself.
So now that it has............
My question to the board is based on what you have seen, would you make this trade or would you not and still hope that Jackson will figure it out?
Chiefs top 10 prospects
I thought this would be fun. I compiled what I though were the top 10 prospects currently on the Chiefs roster, meaning a young player who has untapped potential at the NFL level with 2-3 years NFL experience or less. I encourage others to put a list up. My list is as follows:
1. Eric Berry
4. Glenn Dorsey
5. Brandon Albert
9. Alex Magee
10. Cameron Shoffeld
The list gets pretty thin at the bottom, but I think the Chiefs have a really nice young nucleus of young players to build for the future.
Brandon Graham with our #5 pick
This guy needs to be the pick. I don't care if Berry, McClain, or Okung are on the board. This guy will have more impact next year than any of those guys and more impact in the future as well. He could get us 10-12 sacks next year as a 3-4 OLB with Hali coming off the other side maybe getting in double digits as well. Then go Cody at 2a and then maybe a Chad Jones at 2b and we would have a serious influx of talent for the defense and the D would all be but taken care of for the next five years.
This offseason
I know a lot of people are on here saying that we need to sign thia FA or that FA this offseason. I agree, we still need a lot of pieces. But I think what is more than likely to happen is that Pioli is going to have Weis and Crennel coach what is currently on the team with the addition of the draft and maybe a couple minor FA's, then next year they will all get together and figure out what they need on the FA market. There's just no way we are going to sign a bunch of big-name FA's before Weis and Crennel have even coached the players that are currently on the team and with the potential to coach up some of the under-performing players ((Albert, Bowe, T. Jackson, D. Johnson, Dorsey(would still like to see more sacks)) and it's just not the Patriots way of doing things which we seem to be mirroring. Thoughts?
Trading Glenn Dorsey for Aaron Curry
Alright, it's pretty clear that our DE situation is not working out. Our run D sucks, and T-Jack and Dorsey are showing no tangible evidence that they are positive contributing to the D. To be quite frank, I don't even know if they negatively affect the D either since there names are never called during games and neither has made one big play all year, not even one freaking TFL.
I know that T-Jack is here to stay. He is tall, a Pioli pick, and better suits the 3-4. Its pretty clear right now in Seattle that Aaron Curry doesn't seem to be working out in the 4-3 and they are speculating that he would be a better fit in the 3-4. We trade them Dorsey, giving them an ideal 4-3 DT with loads of potential. We get Curry back in return and now we have a building block at LB. The contracts should be pretty similar as well. Then we start Magee at the other end in the 3-4 who had shown flashes and we target someone like May in the draft giving us a top pick in each sector of the D. (DL, LB, S).
Dez Bryant - Why I think he will be our #1 pick
It would be building a strength for this team where they would have an advantage over most teams cornerbacks they would be playing by having 2 #1 type receivers. No one else we draft would give us that. WR's are usually instant gratification picks which we really need given the Dorseys and Jacksons that we have been drafting and having to wait for their production. It would give Todd Haley a very similar offense to what he had in AZ with these receivers and a game manger at QB. I really think he will be the pick. Tyson Jackson was a Pioli pick on defense. Now, Todd Haley is going to want a toy on offense and I think Dez Bryant will fit the bill.
Brandon Flowers
Does anyone have a national article written by a national writter or a third-party scout that states that Brandon Flowers has Pro-Bowl potential? Or is this just one of those KC Chiefs biased things that people around here are just hoping that he becomes? He looks a bit under-sized to be a #1 and lacks the top-end speed to really stay man-to-man with true #1 receivers.
On another note, the Chiefs currently have the worst defense in football so obviously there have to be changes made on all lines of the defense.
Aaron Curry
Today: 10 tackes, 1 sack, 1 pass defense
Tyson Jackson today: One tackle
Safe to say so far that Pioli's first pick as a GM has been a bad one when their was a consensus #3 pick (Curry) in the draft that 31 other GM's would've taken in that position. I would've felt a lot better with him as the pick then we could have focused on the secondary or OL in the draft. Now, a play-making OLB is still a huge need.
Ndamukong Suh
It's pretty clear after last night that this guy needs to be our first pick to anchor our defense. This guy is a beast. He could play DT and then wave have Jackson and Dorsey on the sides. This could be the making of a pretty dominant D-Line. Hopefully in free agency we can target a LT so we can move Albert to RT and then find a play-making OLB to to get some pressure on the QB.
Seymour for our '09 1st Rd. Pick
Who would've done this? I personally would have been all over this and then tried to re-sign him to a long-term contract with all the money we are giving Tyson Jackson, who I think will be a bust along with Dorsey. Seymour is only 29 so he has to have at least 3,4, maybe 5 good years left in him. Then I would've traded next years first round pick for Jason Peters. Move Albert over to RT and then all of a sudden you are looking at a pretty good team.
