Carter and Hawes' Defense

According to sources (most annoying phrase ever), Carter and Hawes were two of the first names linked to PDX. With a team loaded with shooting and needing to improve defensively, that could come as...

Evaluating the Lillard/Williams Backcourt

With many bench needs and so few resources it becomes both necessary and difficult to prioritize. What's more important: a third big, competent wing scorer, or an upgrade at back-up PG? Another...

The Series From a "Line-up Imbalance" Perspective

So this started out as a comment to this sentence from one of Dave's pieces: In the parts of the game that looked most normal, Houston gained and preserved more of an advantage than the Blazers...

Blazer's Starters Dominate the Rockets

I was re-watching some of the Blazers - Rockets games from this season. What immediately struck me was how frequently the Blazer bench gave up a sizable lead. So I looked up the line-up info and...

Blazers 2nd Unit Dead Last in Net Rating

7

Blazer's 2nd-10th most used line-ups ranks dead last in Net Rating among playoff teams. Not the most rigorous statistical argument but it is certainly alarming. The bench might be better than last years but it's still likely the worst among playoff teams.

In today's promoted Fanpost, wilson7117 looks at the stats this season and debates whether the true level of play from the Blazers starters.

Another brilliant Zach Lowe piece. Might support going after someone like Larry Sanders

Thomas Robinson Full Game - Kansas v Texas

3

For all you basketball junkies out there who are sad we have a buy the first day of summer league. Full games are so much better than clips to get a feel for a player. My take: Really good rim runner, rebounder, finisher. Got in trouble off the dribble and pretty much just used his physical dominance to score in the post which won't work in the NBA. My guess is doing those two things too much cost him minutes his first year. But if we can get him more disciplined no reason he can't be a Kenneth Faried with a jump shot (which would be incredible!!!).

Who Creates Efficient Offense from the Wing?

Cool graph that illustrates who can create their own offense efficiently. Spoiler: Lebron and Durant are insane

Asset Maximization and Batum

Many people have lamented that even if Hibbert and Batum are signed, the Blazers aren't contenders. The problem with that is we would lose most of our roster flexibility. Any improvements would...

Felton complete game vs. Boston Stat Line: FG FGA 3P 3PA FT FTA TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS 8 16 3 7 7 7 0 14 0 0 5 2 26 A few poor shots, the occasional bad pass, a couple defensive breakdowns but this kid can definitely play PG. Seriously, every pick a roll, pause it right before Felton makes the pass and look at the defense. Felton reads it perfectly almost every time.

Kenneth Faried or Anthony Randolph?

I've read a lot of interest for both around Bedge. Both are young and would play backup PF. Both are fairly available and would probably cost the Blazers about the same (my best guess is Rudy and a...

Season Review of Felton

5

"A guard that can do practically anything you ask of him - stretch the floor, score in bunches, play up-tempo, run half-court sets, get his teammates involved, and play lock-down defense. While he's not an elite player at any one thing, his on court diversity makes him a major asset on the right team." Short of getting an All-star caliber PG (read: Curry or Deron), I've felt for awhile that a good all-around PG is the right fit for this team. Hope we get him.
