Transfers - What on earth is going on?
In recent years, it seems that the number of transfers has increased. But over the past couple days players are asking for releases at an insane rate. Obviously we all will speculate which transfers Maryland will potentially be involved with.

Point Guard Targets
It has been awhile since I've made a fan post so I figured I'd end my drought.
2013 Targets
Happy Friday everyone! I figured I'd make a list of 2013 targets we're going after since 2012 is winding down.
Happy Friday!
So IMS has a free article on Christian Sanders and his upcoming visit this weekend.

Friday Morning Links
Hello Fellas.
Just thought I'd post a few links and videos to keep us busy today.
DC Metro Showcase
This is kind of late but I went to the AAU tourney in Moco on Sunday to watch Team Takeover, and just thought I'd share a few of my thoughts, and because Ben is forcing me to write this.

Dream Class
Hey guys!!! (except Charlotte)
Now that the July recruiting period has begun and MD's recruiting class will begin to take shape; I thought we should take a moment to choose our dream class scenarios for 2012 and 2013.
Elijah Macon
Elijah Macon is a 6'8", 210 lbs power forward from Ohio. ESPN, Rivals, and Scouts all have him as a 4-star recruit for the 2012 class.
Small Forwards for 2012
Hello fellow Terps brethren. Since the recruiting landscape is shaping out for the new staff it seems like we basically have our full list of small forward targets for the class of 2012.
I'm bored so I decided to make a poll for who you guys would want the most to replace Chris Brown 2.0 now that he decided he wants to attend a school that wears ties to sporting events. Without further ado vote away.
Recruiting 2012
I was going to post earlier today but was too lazy to type. So the dead period is finally over and the influx of AAU and recruiting news has increased.
I'm only going to focus on the local talent Arnaud Adala Moto, Jerami Grant, Isaiah Miles, and Jamel Artis.

2012 Recruiting Class
Hey guys.
Now that the staff is in place let the recruiting begin, and the speculation begin as well. What would be your most desirable class?
Mine (Realistically):
Seth Allen
Shaq Cleare
Arnuad Moto
Amile Jefferson
Also other potential targets: Barrington Alston (Ben Broman's BFF), Mitch McGary (Realistic?), Perry Ellis (KS dude), Robert Upshaw (Bino was on him), AJ Hammons (Close by), Katin Reinhardt (I am in love with him).
So what would your guys choices?
Wally Judge
Update per Adam Zagoria (http://www.zagsblog.com/2011/05/02/wally-judge-mulling-three-schools/):
Former Kansas State big man Wally Judgehas now visited Maryland and Rutgers and may still trip to Washington this coming weekend.
“I was supposed to but I’m not sure if I’m going to take that visit,” Judge said Monday morning by phone. “Washington’s still on my radar.”
The 6-foot-9, 245-pound Washington, D.C., native took an official to Maryland this past weekend and ran in an open gym with the team.
“I went down there this weekend,” he said. “Enjoyed myself, got to see my family and see the campus. I went to high school 5-10 minutes away from there [Arlington, Va. Country Day]. I grew up in that area all my life. I got family all over that area.”
As for how the Maryland staff would utilize Judge, he said, They would “basically put the ball in my hands and let me be the same player I was there coming out of high school. Allow me to step out and show my perimeter skills and be a face-up four man instead of a five man.”

2011 Draft
Hey guys!
I had a few question about trading draft picks for other draft picks. Since the Redskins have the #10 pick this year how does trading down work?
I had heard I think last year that some sort of point system works where teams evaluate the value of the picks by adding the point value for the picks they want to trade for the other teams picks (i.e. If we evaluate our pick as 1000 points the team we're are wishing to trade would put a combination of picks together that add up to 1000). Is that true?
Yes, I know trading down is hard so please spare me with the whole "we need two parties to trade down" crap. Thanks.
Off-Season (Free Agency/Draft)
HEY GUYS!!!
This is just a list of possible free agency and draft prospects. Feel free to give your insight and add any additional players:
Free agency:
Wide receiver
Malcom Floyd, SD - Is a great deep target. Is big too. Can be a #1 as he has shown in SD.
Jacoby Jones, HOU – Played under Kyle Shanahan.
Sidney Rice, MINN - Another big target with great speed.
Steve Breaston, ARI - Can be a good depth WR on a team that desperately needs some depth at WR.
Offensive Line
David Baas – SF, Chris Spencer – SEA, Matt Light – NE, Logan Mankins – NE, Evan Mathis – CIN, Alan Faneca – ARI, Tyson Clabo – ATL, Khalif Barnes – OAK, Ray Willis – SEA, Olin Kreutz – CHI, Kyle Kosier – DAL, Casey Wiegmann – KC, Richie Incognito – MIA, Jonathan Goodwin – NO
Defensive End
Jacques Cesaire – SD, Richard Seymour – OAK, Marcus Spears – DAL, Shaun Ellis – NYJ, Trevor Pryce – NYJ,
Matt Roth – CLE
Defensive Tackle
Chris Hoke – PIT, Travis Johnson – SD, Aubrayo Franklin – SF, Cullen Jenkins – GB, Pat Williams – MIN, Robaire Smith – CLE, Ronald Fields – DEN, Ron Edwards – KC
Linebacker
Shawne Merriman – BUF, Kirk Morrison – JAC, Mike Peterson – ATL, Thomas Davis – CAR, Pisa Tinoisamoa – CHI, Dhani Jones – CIN, Mike Vrabel – KC, Ben Leber – MIN, Takeo Spikes – SF, Stephen Cooper – SD, Kevin Burnett – SD, Scott Shanle – NO
Cornerback
Champ Bailey – DEN, Ronde Barber, TB, Brian Williams, ATL, Fabian Washington, BAL, Chris Carr, BAL, Drayton Florence, BUF, Stanford Routt, OAK, Ellis Hobbs, PHI, Ike Taylor, PIT, Lito Sheppard, MIN, Carlos Rogers, WAS
Safety
Roy Williams, CIN, Brodney Pool, NYJ, Quintin Mikell – PHI, Gerald Sensabaugh, DAL, Josh Bullocks, CHI, Darren Sharper – NO, Matt Ware, ARI, Sean Considine, JAC, Deon Grant, NYG
Draft
For the draft I am pretty sure we are going after Jake Locker so there is no point to discussing the other options. Also IMO i think we might might package some type of picks with McNabb to either move up in the 1st round to make sure we get Jake Locker or to recoup a 2nd or 3rd rounder because teams like Arizona or Minnesota might compete with each other to make sure they get McNabb since those franchises are desperate for a QB and might not want to wait to develop a rookie QB especially Arizona.
Draft Day Scenario
There some interesting things that the Redskins can do on draft day. A lot of this depends on what the Rams and Lions do but regardless there is one scenario that I am praying the Skins go through with.
First off let's begin with the Ravens and Patriots. Apparently rumors have it that both are very high on Dez Bryant the WR. Some experts have the Browns taking him with the #7 overall pick, and most have him going before pick #21 and #22 which is what the Ravens and Patriots.
This is where the Skins come in. Have the #4 overall pick, my choice would be to trade the $4 pick for the Ravens #22 and Jared Gaither. Also even if the Ravens aren't interested in Dez we can convince them to move up to take Eric Berry because they need to replace Ed Reed.
Then when we have the #22 pick take Terrance Cody the stud DT who can play nose tackle for us and move Fat Al to DT.
Hopefully we can trade some sort of package of player(s) for a 2nd round pick so if we're lucky Charles Brown the OT out of USC is still available for us to take and have him start at RT and Gaither start at LT.
Tell me what you think. Please no verbal abuse. =)
Jason Campbell to the Vikings
On my way to work this morning I was listening to Mike and Mike, and they were discussing the future of the Vikings and specifically the QB position since Brett Favre is most likely going to call it quits soon.
Greeny brought up a number of possibilities mainly focusing on the situation regarding the Eagles two QBs: McNabb and Vick.
On Vick, Big Mike was adamant that he could not handle should not be given the reigns of QB for the Vikings because he has no played the QB position for a while including this year where he was just the wildcats guy.
On McNabb, they talked about how expensive he would be to trade for and the fact that the Eagles have already stated he's their guy.
Now this is where things get interesting and I am kind of paraphrasing here:
Greeny: "....What about Jason Campbell?"
*Literally a ten second pause.*
Big Mike: "...That is very interesting...very interesting"
Greeny: "He was never really given a chance to succeed. Hes young. Hes got a big arm."
Big Mike: "I like him a lot."
Greeny: "Hes someone you can bring in and build around."
Ok. So put it in the books. Im calling it. Jason Campbell is going to the Vikings, and I am not ashamed to say it, I will join the bandwagon.
Plus it makes alot of sense. They run a west coast offense. He will be brought in to throw deep with AP running all day.
GV Article
An indepth article on Greives Vasquez. Its an amazing read. Here is the link.
The stairs that climb into another desolate barrio begin next to a concrete wall splashed with red spray paint. A capital "S" and an "í" converge to serve as an affirmation. Yes. Left over from President Hugo Chávez's 2006 reelection campaign, Sí served as a means to foster loyalty among youth voters in return for all that Chávez had accomplished so far. He had rebuilt many of the outdoor basketball courts in barrios all across Venezuela's capital -- new paint jobs, new backboards, new rims, new nets, new fences.
In Caracas, the word stands for strength and promise and unity, a reward for patience shown. But here, patience remains in short supply.
Concrete gives way to crumbling orange brick and littered tin roofs. Tangled extension cords funnel electricity from the municipal lines down below, into parts of the city the government doesn't service. Barrios build vertically; the standard of living falls as the incline steepens.
The noise, though, grows with each step on this mid-August afternoon. Out of an unfinished home, salsa music blares, interrupted by the concussive bounce of a basketball. Inside a rectangular, 12-foot high, chain-link fence, six teenagers play: three-on-three, make-it-take-it. A 17-year-old named Arangel Carrillo dribbles the ball at the top of the key, sweat dripping off the bangs mopped across his forehead. He drives to his right, charging fiercely into the lane without regard for the pair of defenders swarming in his path. He dribbles once through his legs as he nears the basket, right hand to left, and then the ball is gone, tossed blindly behind his back to an open teammate. The shot clanks off the rim; play continues.
"Oh, yeah!" a voice from above yells in Spanish. "Look at the Greivises!"

Saturday Scrimmage
I attended Saturday's scrimmage at Comcast, and came away impressed with Sean Mosley, Adrian Bowie, Dino Gregory, Landon Milbourne, and James Padgett (he looked really good)
Here are the stats:
Landon Milbourne: 18 points on 6 of 16 shooting, 11 rebounds, two steals, two assists, two blocks.
Eric Hayes: five points on 2 of 12 shooting, four rebounds, two steals, four assists.
Jin Soo Choi: 10 points on 3 of 10 shooting, five rebounds, two steals, one assist, one block.
Sean Mosley: 21 points on 8 of 14 shooting, 10 rebounds, three steals, three assists, one block.
Jordan Williams: four points on 2 of 6 shooting, three rebounds, one steal.
Greivis Vasquez: 25 points on 9 of 23 shooting, five rebounds, four steals, nine assists.
Adrian Bowie: 16 points on 6 of 11 shooting, seven rebounds, three assists.
David Pearman: three points on 1 of 1 shooting.
Cliff Tucker: seven points on 3 of 12 shooting, three rebounds, three steals, seven assists.
Steve Goins: eight points on 3 of 5 shooting, seven rebounds.
Dino Gregory: 16 points on 7 of 12 shooting, eight rebounds, one assist, two blocks.
James Padgett: 17 points on 7 of 13 shooting, seven rebounds, two steals.
Team: shot 41 percent from the field, shot 45 percent (20 for 44) from three-point range, shot 78 percent from the free-throw line (22 of 28), tallied 32 assists, 34 turnovers and 20 steals.
FYI: I sat in between Eric Hayes parents (his dad would not stop talking the entire game) and Dino Gregory's dad and bro (his dad is a Bmore police officer).
Definitely going to next weeks scrimmage on Saturday 10/31 and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Where is JC going to end up next year?
Since it is plainly obvious that Jason Campbell will not end up remaining with the Skins following this year, I wanted to look at the places he might end up.
Also on a side note: The whole Jay Cutler trade came down to the Broncos wanting Orton over JC. Orton has better numbers than Cutler (100+ passer rating compared to 86). There was a general consensus that JC was a better QB than Orton (he possessed more skill, athleticism, and decision making (Orton was a turnover machine in Chicago)). Think about how well JC might be doing in Denver right. Just a side.
Now back to business.
1. San Francisco - I really hope JC ends up here. This is how a organization is supposed to be run. They did not cave into Crabtree. Singletary has the reigns to coach the team. Davis has straightened out is become a dominant TE. The only missing piece is a QB. With Sean Hill regressing and Alex Hill presumably a bust it seems like the perfect fit with many analyst guessing that that is where he will end up.
2. New England - This is my own hope. It has nothing to do with anything that is going on. Tom Brady has no real back up. He is getting kind of old. But the major reason I want JC to go here is that he will finally be in an organization that epitomizes excellence. He will learn so much from Brady in terms of decision making and leadership. Belichick will definitely be a major influence on him too.
3. Carolina - Jake Delhomme is old. Ancient. He turns the ball over like its his job. Also, people are assuming this is Cowher's choice of his next coaching position. And I would guess that he wants a mobile Big Ben type of QB without giving up a draft pick for one. Also another good situation.
4. Minnesota - I know this is a weird choice for many reasons. First its a west coast system. He did not do that well. Second they have Favre. But hear me out. JC can spend a year as a back up to Favre, and learn the system. Also Tavaris Jackson is a free agent i think, but in any case I think he might be out of Minnesota after this year.
5. Oakland - Jamarcus might be a bust. But I doubt JC will put himself in a situation with another dysfunctional franchise.
6. St. Louis - Do they have a QB? I do not know much about this. Doubt it.
7. Miami - Maybe?
8. Buffalo - No?
As you can see I got tired of writing, so tell me your opinion of where he would end up. I think its going to be San Fran but it would be interesting to see him go to New England.
Coach Change?
Why are we as fans asking for a coaching change? Once again like the foolish citizens of Troy we are falling for another cheep parlor trick. You might be asking yourself what is this trick?
Well its simple....we do not need a new coach. Then what do we need? Its quite simple actually.
We need a new GM....and no GM does not stand for General Motors.
See this is what Napoleon with a cell phone and deep pockets does not want us fans to be discussing. Everyone for the most part is anticipating the arrival of the new coach this upcoming off-season. But why? Because there are names like Gruden, Holmgren, Shannahan, or Cowher out there. They are not the best possible choices. Almost all of them had general managers. Two of them inherited their Super Bowl teams.
More importantly this is the main point I am trying to hammer acros:
Napoleon should not hire a new coach. THE GENERAL MANAGER SHOULD HIRE THE NEW HEAD COACH.
Napoleon has no credibility nor insight in who should be the new head coach. He wants Shannahan the most because his douche friend Jerry Jones wants him.
So let me reiterate this: Napoleon should no longer be making any football decisions. We as fans should not be asking him to do so which is what we are doing now by demanding for a coaching change. We need an organizational change.
Recruiting Update 10/07
This is a quick recruiting update:
ESPN has some updates on class of 2011 recruits.
1. Desmond Hubert
ESPNU Super 60 center Desmond Hubert met with the Maryland coaching staff on Saturday and walked out of Gary Williams' office with a scholarship offer, according to ESPN.com's Maryland affiliate www.InsideMDSports.com.
"It was real cool because like to me, coach Williams is up there with [North Carolina's] Roy Williams and [Duke's] Coach K in the ACC," Hubert said. "He's a really good coach, he's been there for a long time. He knows what he's doing."
Hubert has also unofficially visited Villanova and Penn State, both of whom have offered him. He's also being recruited by St. Joseph's, Rutgers, Virginia and Xavier, according to his AAU coach, Johnny Salmon.
2. Mikael Hopkins
ESPNU Super 60 power forward Mikael Hopkins is set to unofficially visit Notre Dame on Oct. 16, according to ESPN.com's ND affiliate site www.irishsportsdaily.com.
"(Irish) Coach (Mike) Brey said it would be a good place for me to come because I'll have family there," Hopkins said. Brey and assistant coach Rod Balanis are both graduates of DeMatha Catholic H.S. "And he said I'll be able to develop into a better basketball player and a better person."
Hopkins has visited Maryland, Georgetown and Virginia Tech and holds offers from all three. He also has offers from Syracuse, Florida, Clemson, Virginia, West Virginia, Florida State, Pittsburgh and Villanova, but is in no rush to make a decision, he told the site.
Seems like G-Dubs is the man...like NPH.
Recruiting update, UMD news and Hispanics/Latinos *UPDATED*
I was on ESPN this morning and noticed a few interesting articles that mentioned Maryland or UMD recruits in some capacity.
1. The first article is new from ESPN BB Recruiting. It is an in depth at Terrence Jones. This might have been irrelavant if it was not for the fact that they mention T Ross as his close friend and teammate and more importantly that he UMD might, big might, be still in it on his recruitment. Even though there is little chance he comes here still an interesting read. Link
2. The second is from the "On the trail" section under ESPN BB Recruiting. This is a great section for up to date recruiting info for the entire US. Anyways it says that Tobias Harris will appear on ESPNU's Recruiting Insider program Thursday at 5:30 p.m. EDT. Link. You need to scroll down a little. Did anyone see or hear what he said?
3. ESPN College BB talks about Hispanics in college and pro BB. The first is an in depth by Andy Katz on Vasquez. Link. And the second is a more general look at all Latin Americans which also includes Vasquez. Link.
4. Great article on why Steve Blake is still the man. Link.
5. CBS's Gary Parrish has an interesting take on why UConn is no longer in it for Harris and Selby. Revolves around the fact that Calhoun is not highly regarded any more. Link.
6. Comcast is a hard place to play at. Link

Next Home Game
Ok I am pretty sure that everyone is fed up with whats going on as I am. I have followed this religiously for the past years. One thing that Danny Boy (from here forth he will be referred to as Napoleon with a Cell Phone and deep pockets) has been really good at is getting players to come here.
The problem with that is that he gets the wrong players. Instead of paying one man $100 million ($41 million guaranteed) he should have gone out like the Giants and gotten a solid D-lineman and some solid O-lineman. We overpaid for D-Hall, etc.
People need to stop the hating on JC, if any of you are not blind and saw the game sunday you saw the difference between the O-lines was DRAMATIC. JC had at most two seconds before he had to scramble when the pocket collapsed whereas Stafford had 4 seconds. NFL have consistently analyzed JC's time in the pocket and it has been shown he is one of the most rushed Qbs, but he still manages to put up good numbers.
Moss and ARE are so small. Moss missed a pass which any 6 foot receiver would easily have caught. This is no exaggeration whatsoever.
Ok so here is my point. We as fans want change. And the overwhelming majority seem to think that the problem lies with Napoleon. I am not one to tell people what to do, but I do have two suggestions. Those who go to games should make it a spectacle. Two choices:
1. Wear a paper bag (unless your a hot chick).
2. Bring in a poster. The poster should have two letters written on it. GM. This is my choice. If everyone brought a poster with the words GM written on it. Just GM, and when the game is televised where ever the camera pans to on the stands it will show GM posters everywhere. Think about it. Napoleon will be embarrassed out of his mind b/c of the negative pr that would create. The announcers will notice, the media will notice, it'll be everywhere.
Oh and a combination of the two would be redonk.
Pick Up Games at Comcast
So I have been reading recently about the pick up games that have been held at Comcast (and I remember reading about them when another recruit was visiting UMD) and I was wondering if anyone knew when these pick up games take place and if people can go and watch and/or participate in them (more likely watch).
If anyone knows could you let me know. Thanks. I need eight more words which is why I am writing this sentence to reach 75.
Devon Collier and Tobias Harris
This is an article from Zags Blog. I have never heard of this kid...Devon Collier out of NYC. Hes #79 on ESPN's ESPNU 100 list graded at 93. He's also a 3 star on Rivals, and 4 star on Scouts. General consensus is that hes roughly the 20th best PF in the class. Apparently UMD is recruiting him and hes impressed with our recruiting class so far.
More importantly Tobias Harris's in-home interview schedule is out....and UMD is the last date. Do you guys think thats good or thats bad? Saving best for last or we barely just made his list? Since KU is first...
OMG - MUST SEE
This is the greatest quote ever. Or by our friends at Turtle Soup say "quote of the year".
Shocker its by GW. Here is the link to the entire post.
Here is the part I am talking about:
“I don’t know, I’m a little concerned. I don’t want to sound like the old head (coach), like things aren’t the way they used to be, but something has got to be done. Because you look at the teams this year that were very successful, a couple of them have been outed for what they did. And next year, when it comes time for college basketball to start again, they’ll talk about certain coaches as being great recruiters that I know cheat, you know. And I could be a great recruiter if I was giving kids money, or if I was changing grades on a kid, I’d be a great recruiter, but that’s where it is right now.” - Gary Williams
This man is a national hero.
