Born and raised in Chicago. Grandparents lived in Lawrence KS, and frequent trips down there got me hooked on Kansas Jayhawks basketball by the time I was 8. Going through my teen years, Michael Jordan hooked me on the Bulls, and unfortunately, I somehow became a Cubs fan as well.

I'm generally ok with this, since all the other "stars" on UNC looked bad without him. That was followed up by the school saying that him, along with teammates Harrison Barnes and John Henson, will be entering the NBA Draft. No word as to if they will be hiring an agent, but it makes me believe that McAdoo is staying.

I don't know why anyone wanted him anyway. Or why they were scared of him on the Heat. Either way, glad that's over.

Blog a Bull Bulls at Orlando Magic: Rose out for game, Dwight Howard in for season (Game Preview #48)

[Thanks to wrigleyrocker12 for today's game preview. We need some for the next 2 weeks, so please sign up if you're interested. Special Monday game for TNT -yfbb]

What can I say? I was bored, and thought I would take the time to do my first game preview! (and, of course, to bash Dwight Howard some more, and talk about how him being in a Bulls uniform would suck!). So, onward with the preview!

The Bulls (37-10) travel to Orlando (29-17) to face the Magic for seemingly, like, the 15th time this year. In all seriousness, although it feels like the Bulls have faced them 15 times, this will be the third, and final battle between these two teams. The Bulls come in with just a one game lead over the ever-loved Miami Heat, which, contrary to belief around here, makes every game important. Grabbing the one seed and home court advantage would be great to have, I don't know why people wouldn't think it is. It doesn't take precedent over health, of course, which reminds me, Derrick Rose will likely not be playing tonight, and Rip Hamilton will be on the sideline as well, but hopefully he's wearing some kind of Lord of the Rings Mithril Armor (hopefully I'm not the only person here that's a LOTR nerd?). Regardless, it's time for WRIGLEY'S KEYS TO THE GAME!

I guess 3rd times a charm. That's what they say!!

Mike James twitter. Uh-oh.

[From the FanShots. Hopefully more just for depth than any likelihood of Derrick Rose sitting out the Heat game -yfbb]

Thought it was kinda cool that one of our guys was getting some recognition, and I love McFarlane figures, so I figured I would post for others to see.

ESPNU's 20th player for 2013. Shooting guard. He will be VERY needed once EJ graduates.

Notable quotes...

"It is now Players: 53, Owners 50, in terms of the split of revenues.
In other words, they were separated by eight percentage points at the beginning of the day; three percentage points by the end of the day (although the players argued that the proposed 50/50 split was a mischaracterization, something Stern vehemently disputed).
I’ll repeat that: From eight to three.
Are we really supposed to believe they won’t be able to find a way to meet in the middle on the financial issue — as well as the remaining systemic issues — between now and the end of the weekend? C’mon."

"And when those talks come, which they will, somewhere in between 50 and 53 will be the magic number that settles this lockout. The sides are simply too close to throw in the towel now — especially with the true 11th hour now known."

"So if you read between the lines and cut through the bullshit, the end game became clear.
There is a deal to be done at 51/49 or 52/48, and there are five days to get there.
To me, that’s a layup.
"

He's very optimistic a deal regarding BRI will be reached by the end of the week. He certainly knows more than I do, so I'm going to allow this to make me happy.

I'm kind of upset. I wanted to see someone other than Denmon beat KU.

Nothing better to discuss in a lockout than the idiocracy of ESPN writers. I honestly can't believe that just one believes the Bulls will beat the Heat. And don't even get me started on Boozer.

MLB MLB
BREAKING: Rangers acquire RHP Mike Adams from Padres for Minor League pitchers Robbie Erlin and Joe Wieland.

Erlin is the number 34 prospect in baseball, rated B+ by John Sickels at minorlegueball. Wieland is rated the Rangers number 3 midseason prospect, right behind Erlin, and is actually outpitching Erlin at AA with an ERA hovering around 2. Can't imagine what Marshall/Marmol could have returned. Unbelievable.

Do these guys really not understand why nobody likes them? LeBron scores 8 points and then mocks the guy that far outplayed him. Niiiccceee. Karmas a bitch LeDouchebag.
EDIT: Dirk responds:
"I just thought it was a little childish, a little ignorant, I've been in this league for 13 years. I've never faked an injury or illness."
There's good stuff from Wade and LeBron in there as well. They're so stupid.

I dunno, I suppose we can use any big bodies and rebounder's that we can get at this point. He has one year of eligibility left, and I don't see him playing any more that 20 minutes off the bench.

Nobody can deny the epic-ness of the video. So sick, other than the mess up in the title, of course.

Rock Chalk Talk What are the Jayhawks chances of ACTUALLY winning the Big 12 this year?

Now, I know this may be a difficult topic to discuss, for some of us, at least, however, I would like to discuss the Jayhawks chances of winning the Big 12 regular season championship this year. Obviously, it is pretty much down to two teams right now, Kansas, and Texas. The edge clearly belongs to Texas, within record, AND the schedule the rest of the year.

TEXAS

Texas Teach

@Oklahoma

Baylor

Okie State

@Nebraska

Iowa State

@Colorado

KState

@Baylor @Mizzou

KANSAS

@Nebraska

Mizzou

Iowa State

@KState

Colorado

Okie State

@Oklahoma

Texas AM

@Mizzou

Now, there's a couple games that stick out to me. For Texas, at Baylor is a matchup I believe they could lose, because it's not really clear as to how they handle big time scorers, like Dunn. They have had some good games defending on good scorers (the Morri, Denmon, Middleton) and some bad ones (Wanamaker, Walker). Another one that sticks out to me is Colorado. We've all seen what they can do when they get hot, so I know we will all be crossing our fingers for Burks and company to do so in that one.

Kansas, on the other hand, actually faces a few ranked teams in the final month. They should win all of their home games, even the ones against Mizzou and AM. Easily. However, Nebraska did give us some trouble last month AT HOME. I'm a little worried for tomorrow, and perhaps the KState one. Although, that team turned from a number one seed into an unwatchable train wreck, and it happened, like, overnight. So I think that's a win. Thus leaving me with two worrisome games, at Nebraska, and at Mizzou. I honestly don't think Nebraska has quite enough talent to beat us, even if T2's mind is more on what he will tweet later than it is on the game. But nonetheless, I think the boys will pull out a win. However, at Mizzou is scary. Some people can doubt them as a good team, because they really haven't beaten any ranked teams, so I'm gonna say if we can shut down the perimeter, we're going to win.

Well, that leaves it at this. Even if the Jayhawks win out, which is possible, but so is them losing an easy one, it will still be difficult to pull out the Big 12 championship, with Texas having a fairly easy schedule the remainder of the year, and, most importantly, having the head to head advantage. So even with a win out, Texas will have to lose two games in order to KU to pull out the championship. Blah. Let's hope for the best. Rock chalk.

"The New Orleans Hornets and Toronto Raptors are in serious discussions on a five-player trade that would send Peja Stojakovic and Jerryd Bayless to the Raptors for Jarrett Jack, David Andersen and Marcus Banks, a source told ESPN.com Saturday.

The deal was close to being completed Friday night, but was held up over the amount of cash the Hornets would send to the Raptors in the trade.

Still, the holdup was not believed to be insurmountable, according to a source with direct knowledge of the talks, who spoke on condition of anonymity."

I kept seeing his name in box scores and I thought he had fallen off the face of the earth. I didn't know he was still in the NBA. Anyway, just thought I would post this in light of basketball season starting in a week.

It's been slow around here lately, and I know some of us are always interested in Jayhawk alumi. Anyway, in two games, Sasha is averaging 13 points and 6 rebounds. Not too bad.

I guess this can be considered good news. He'll likely be a part of the team next year, whether we like it or not.
