"Gaston thinks Jays could beef up with trade"
Thoughts? I didn't see this posted elsewhere.
Baseball Think Factory - 1000 Simulations of 2010 Season
Basically the results of 1000 computer simulated 2010 seasons for the major leaders/awards of the year. What is interesting is the "Other Tidbits" section: Ricky Romero is predicted to have roughly 35 20-loss seasons if played 1000 times. Jose Bautista had the lowest single-season average of anyone in 1000 seasons at .141. Only two mentions of Jays players at all. Wonderful.
MLB video games and Jays pitching
So, I've been playing through MLB 2k8 on my 360 and MLB 2k9 on my PC and I've noticed something quite enfuriating - the Jays pitching, though it's been the best in the MLB for the last few years, is rated as basically abysmal by these games. With living rosters updated, we still see the Jays pitching as being a 4/10... the same as the Mariners, Orioles, Padres and Indians and just barely better than the Nationals. Every other team in the league is better rated for pitching... Anyone else notice this or are you not surprised that the Canadian team gets the shaft even though we have one of the best pitching staffs and bullpens in baseball for the last few years...
Jays @ Seattle - July 27-29
Hey all. In tonight's gamethread we were talking about people going down to Seattle to watch the Jays play the Ms at the end of July. My dad and I have been meaning to make this trip now for a couple years and finally my work shifts are lining up to allow me to get down there (and we both finally got our acts together and got passports).
So, I'm looking to do 2 things with this post: a) find out if anyone else is planning on heading down there and b) get accomodation advice/other things to do advice.
So, I guess I'm open for suggestions and advice - the only time I've left the country is for an Air Cadet trip to Fairchild AFB, so I'm a little in the dark as to travelling.
Please, please, MLB, develop balance.
My dad and I were just talking about the Dodgers' fast start to the season and I started looking through their schedule. Now, here is a team at the polar opposite of the Jays - of their first 32 games so far, only 5 have been outside their division.
Not to make this a Dodgers post, I'm just posting because I work part-time as a scheduler and imbalance like this is just disgusting. The Jays who get to see a major division rival for the first time this tuesday (no, the Orioles don't count) compared to the Dodgers who have barely had to venture outside their own time zone, let alone their own state!
Uhg. While I'm happy that the Jays have had time to sort out early-season woes and injuries before facing the meat of their schedule, my complaint is about the balance. It's just ridiculous to have teams so brutally skewed in one direction. You'd think that this multi-million (billion?) dollar industry would have spent time developing a scheduling software that accounts for issues like this.
/end rant.
