Good article on TJ surgery up at espn.
Myers playing in cf
I saw that myers played in cf tonight. At first I was excited, then I thought that this might be a move to allow a long term contract for frenchy.
J.P. (Springfield, IL): You're on the spot. The MILB POY award is being given out today. Pick one - Montero, Trout, or other?
Jim Shonerd: One more PoY question ... the field was really strong this year, about 10 or 11 guys with deserving resumes none of which were head and shoulders above the rest. My personal choice was Wil Myers, with Trout second. His numbers as a teenage catcher are impressive as it is, but what really swayed me was how he's stepped up after moving up a level. He's hitting .390/.486/.512 with Wilmington, whose park is tough to hit in.
The contest continues...
I am sure all of you have heard that Omar has been winning the contest as of late. The recent acquisition of Mike Jacobs can only help his case. (its only a minor league deal, but if he makes the team his salary can be over two million which is twice as much as Garko just recieved)
The contest has previously been a back and forth battle of who can pay good money for below replacement level players.
It is now time for Dayton to change strategies. His new ammunition: words.
That's right, if Dayton can't win with poor transactions he can win with words.
Here is a snip from the latest article at the royals website.
When Moore went into this offseason, defense was a priority, and that's something of a tricky business because fielding prowess isn't easily measured by numbers.
"Defense, to me, is a product of athleticism, fundamentals and concentration," Moore said.
"Certainly there are statistics that play a part of that, but defensive statistics are very misleading and unreliable ... every statistician that I speak to will tell you that, including our own. Statistics are something to look at, but they are not the most important part of evaluating a player. You want defensive players that are very sure-handed, players that are instinctive to position themselves appropriately, players that are two or three steps ahead of a certain situation -- that's all part of the defensive player."
Your move Omar.

Royals, Marlins could be closing in on deal
Bob Dutton reports that "renewed discussions appear to center on current members of the Royals’ bullpen. If so, that likely points to either Leo Nuñez or Ramon Ramirez."
