This is kinda interesting. It's an abbreviated evolutionary history of throwing things. Somewhat of an ultra baseball nerd article. I didn't really know whether to laugh or not, but it's good offseason fodder to fill your day with.
The author of the blog is Garrett Broshius, a guy that has spent the past 5 1/2 years in the Giants minor league system. This is a very, very interesting article. Some Dominican trainers - or "buscones", as they're known - are turning cash payments from Big League signing bonuses into money for drug trafficking. The one referenced here was caught with 293 kilos - or $5.86 Million - of cocaine. Very interesting, very scary. Read the SI article that's linked in the blog.
No overlap with the Broncos game. It's the 4th MLB game of the day on TBS' schedule. As it stands, 1st pitch is scheduled for 8:07 PM MDT from Coors Field. Forecast for Sunday is rain/snow showers and a high of 48. No makeup plans announced if Saturday's Game 3 is postponed.
Don't get any crazy ideas about me, now. The link was originally provided by Buddy Oakes of PredsOnTheGlass. Turns out the "Miracle" kid from the video in Dater's blog is a 5 year-old from the Nashville area named Joshua Sacco. Here's a recent video of him on the Ellen DeGeneres show (again, just so we're all clear here, the link was originally provided by Buddy Oakes of PredsOnTheGlass).
Good to see him get another shot.
I have a request of the good people at MHH. I hope that you don't think that I'm spamming the site with a request for help on another hockey site. For the second year, I will be "covering" the Avs...
"The 4-3 really wasn't here. The way they had played, the style and the guys — we just felt like it wasn't like we had a solid 4-3 defensive scheme," McDaniels said Monday. "In other words, why take a year and do that when it really wasn't in place to begin with?"
McDaniels' decision paying off for Broncos - The Denver PostDoes anybody know where I can find the Bengals radio call of the Stokley TD? I've been looking all day, and I can't find it anywhere. I'd love to hear it.
In training to become a teacher/educator, the first thing that is learned in collegiate education courses is the idea of a "teaching philosophy". The student learns of various philosophies, both...
Awful, awful, awful. Ok, Berthiaume picks Yanks/Cards, which is alright, and it's actually not a bad article, but it's incomplete. He examines teams that are "contending" and says why they won't make it. AL - he examines LAA, DET, BOS, and NYY. NL - PHI, LAD, STL. That's it. Not even a mention of the Rox. Apparently only 3 NL teams make the postseason.
Mile High Report: Hands down the most comprehensive and informative Denver Broncos website out there. If you want to sound like you know what you’re talking about Monday mornings after Bronco games, this is where you go.
Jock Itch: The newspaper is dead. Long live the sports blog | Features | City Life | A.V. Denver/BoulderPurple Row: Yet another in the fine stable of SB Nation sports blogs and really the only Colorado Rockies blog you need to visit. Not only does the staff do a fine job recapping the games, but they also cover the Rockies minor-league system, which your rarely see in the major Denver sports media.
Jock Itch: The newspaper is dead. Long live the sports blog | Features | City Life | A.V. Denver/BoulderDon't know why MHH wasn't on there, but Jibblescribbits is.
Just to be clear, I can't find the official postseason roster rules anywhere on the 'net. Information is, at best, sketchy. For whatever reason, MLB.com only has the official rules of gameplay, but...
I was sitting in class this morning, and my brother texted me from Missouri, saying that a co-worker had told him that ESPN Radio reported this morning that a trade was in the works that would send...
A review of the book that is close to the hearts of Rockies fans on my FanNation blog. For those that don't know, Heart of the Game is a book about Mike Coolbaugh and Tino Sanchez, the man that hit the foul ball that took Coolbaugh's life on July 22, 2007. It is a tremendous book.
This is an awesome article about Jim Balsillie. Whether you agree or not, Bourne does give a pretty good account of why Balsillie shouldn't be allowed in. I don't agree nor disagree, as I can see the point on both sides, it's interesting.
This is a season preview that I wrote for InformativeSports.com. I'm interested to know what the good folks at MHR have to say.
OK, this is my debate on FanNation about the best unemployed NHL coach. I went with Bob Hartley, while my opponent took Dave Tippett. Keep in mind that there's a limit of 1,200 characters per argument. Let me know what you think.
Dater's checking it out with the Altitude folks, but I wondered the same thing when I saw "play-by-play analyst Marc Moser" without Norm Jones' name listed.
OK, MHR. Throughout this offseason, we've been subjected to gross violations of Denver Broncos Fandom 101. In fact, if DBF 101 was actually taught at the University level (as it should be), well...
More fun and games from the Onion. Each of the top 3 power hitters of the steroid era are former Rockies - Counsell, Quinton McCracken, and...Glendon Rusch.
Apparently, this was the big "bombshell". In other words, no new news. If you didn't already suspect it, the original tweet of a "bombshell" came from none other than Jamie Dukes. Leave it to Dukes to ruin my night.
Brandon Krisztal of KKFN was just on with D-Mac, and he said that he's hearing one of 2 things. A) Brandon Marshall may be bringing a lawsuit concerning his injury. OR B) The Broncos are in...
Watching the second game of the Rockies doubleheader with the Marlins, I found myself watching home plate umpire Rob Drake rather closely from the 3rd inning on. If you've ever wanted to see an...
This will be a short post. DDC, in his season-ending exit interview segments, was/is fond of creating a drinking game for each Avs player. What about for the coach? I wish that I knew what the Tony...
Just broke a few minutes ago. Looks like good news for the Broncos.
According to this article by Thomas Harding, the numbers prove it. There is nobody better.
A little serious and perturbed talk about PED's, Jose Canseco, and "credibility" on my blog, The Centennial Soapbox, on FanNation.com. I'm curious to know what the Rowbots' thoughts are.
Jeff Legwold, straight from McDaniels' mouth. We won't have to wait to see Knowshon.
