I'm a student at Washington University in St. Louis studying physics.
The Broncos, led by Tim Tebow, have pulled off yet another amazing last second win. This will convince many, probably including the Broncos' front office, that they need to stick with Tebow as...
The last undefeated team in 2009 (Colts) beat the last undefeated team in 2010 (Chiefs) who beat the last undefeated team in 2011 (Packers).
wustl_chiefs_fanAt 0-13, the Indianapolis Colts will almost certainly have the first overall pick in the 2012 draft. This is, as we all know, the draft that contains Andrew Luck, who many feel is the best QB...
15 teams had 3 or fewer players go to the Pro Bowl last year. That's almost half the league that don't have more than 3 Pro Bowl players from last year on their entire roster. The Chiefs now have 3 Pro Bowl players from last year on Injured Reserve. In other words, we have as many Pro Bowl players on Injured Reserve as a lot of teams have on their entire roster.
wustl_chiefs_fanAt this point, we know virtually nothing about how how good of a quarterback Palko is at the NFL level. He hasn't thrown much in the regular season, and when he plays in the preseason he plays with...
Found this while aimlessly wondering around YouTube. Carlin doesn't approve of our head coach's name, but luckily my name gets the stamp of approval. (Edit: Just realized there's some cussing, so you may want to stay away if that stuff bothers you. I just realized it because I cuss like a fucking sailor in real life.)
The Broncos being completely out of it and the fact that there is very little chance of the West having a wild card team makes it particularly interesting. One of Chiefs, Raiders, or Chargers will win the division, and winning the division is probably the only hope of making the playoffs for those three teams.
Thomas Jones carried the ball 9 times for 19 yards against Oakland, with a long of 14 yards. That means that, other than that 14 yard run, Jones had 8 carries for 5 yards, which would put him at 0.625 yards per attempt on those runs.
wustl_chiefs_fanThis a follow up to my What the Chargers Game Means For the Future post. This game, by itself, wasn't that interesting, but is worth writing a post about simply because of how the Chargers game...
There are so many fanposts and fanshots and comments about how excited people are to get Luck on our team, that it has made many users want to stop visiting AP altogether. Luck is, according to...
From the FanPosts. Following up on this discussion, which started here. -Joel Ever since I was little, I've sought to only do things that were rational. I thought about every little thing I did,...
The Chargers game was a weird. From impossibly long drives to Rivers having one of his worst games ever, this game was a fluke turnover away from being amazing. Unfortunately, because of the...
I need a favor from you guys. So I'm working on a fanpost in which Cassel's performance against the Chargers plays a central role. Unfortunately, unlike when I usually post, I'm not very sure I'm right. The issue is that when I look at that game, I can't see anything but an average performance by Cassel, but I am seemingly the only person who thinks that. I'm used to having, how should I put this, "unique" opinions that many people don't share, but I usually have at least a couple people backing me up. And while the lone voice occasionally proves the masses wrong, more often than not the masses are right. That's why they're the masses. So I wanted to double check that I have everything right before I put it up as fact. What arguments are there for saying Cassel had a bad game against the Chargers? The only two I've heard are that he had a bad first half and the interception to end the game. I don't find these arguments convincing, and if that's the extent of the disagreement I can confidently post it (I address both of these there). However, if I'm missing something, some crucial piece of evidence that proves Cassel did a terrible job, I would really like to hear it. In short, besides a bad first half and the interception, is there any other reason that makes you believe Cassel had a bad game last Sunday?
(Note: Changed title from "Bragging Rights". I think ultimately I don't have anything to brag about yet, but this is rather more about how lazy the "experts" are.) If you've read any of my posts...
Should Steve Spagnuolo be on the hot seat? I mean, I've heard a ton of people say Haley might be out, but Haley won more games last year than Spagnuolo has in his entire career as a head coach. Is there any real argument for saying Spagnuolo should stay in St. Louis but Haley should be booted?
wustl_chiefs_fanI was going to wait until this semester ended to post another Fanpost, but I have read too many comments from people who have no idea what they're talking about to wait any longer. These are the...
In 2003, a terrible Bills team beat the New England Patriots 31-0. The Patriots went on to win the Super Bowl. It doesn't mean we'll win the Super Bowl, but it does go to show that one game can be very deceiving.
I am continually amazed by how people think. Every year, "experts" do their best to preview the upcoming season, and every year they are completely surprised by how certain teams perform. Last year...
It's that time of year again. It seems everybody has their season previews up, and with that comes pretty bad logic and reasoning. I could go on for days on how bad some of the mainstream analysis...
In Part 1 of what is now a two part series, I described in detail exactly what the Chiefs strengths and weaknesses should be next year. But there's two sides to every football game, and this time I...
In this post, I will be previewing the Chiefs 2011 season using what I call "Real" stats, which are different from "Conventional" stats like yards and touchdowns by the fact that "Real" stats, like...
I've spent the last couple weeks looking into stats from the 2010 season to try and see if I could find anything that might point towards a surprising outcome next season so I could put it in a...
I don't understand people sometimes. The majority of people, no matter how much evidence is shoved in front of their face, refuse to believe what I find to be obvious. In this case, I simply don't...
I've been thinking about sports logos for a while, and have intended to do a post on them, but a combination of the Wash U physics department deciding doing homework was a better use of my time and...
Assuming we're out of the wild card running (since it would take a miracle for us to lose the division and make the playoffs), the playoff picture has become very simple. With the Broncos eliminated, only the Chargers and Raiders can knock us out of the top spot in the division. To hold them off, the magic number is 3 for the Chargers and 2 for the Raiders. That is, any combination of 3 Chiefs wins and Chargers losses (say, 2 KC wins and 1 SD loss) eliminates the Chargers, while any combination of 2 for the Raiders OR a victory over them in week 17 knocks them out. So, if we win our next two, and SD losses one of the next two, we will clinch the division before the Raiders game.
The Chiefs have the fifth longest current regular season winning streak with 3 in a row.
They're behind Chicago, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, and Houston. In the national media, the fact that the Raiders are significantly improved is as ubiquitously believed as the "fact" that the Chargers are a lock for the division championship. On the surface this...
Some people here at Arrowhead Pride have gotten a little worked up over the first two preseason games. The Falcons game proved, and the Buccaneers game confirmed, that Chiefs are in for another...
This time of year everybody is having fun with guessing how well the Chiefs will do next year. While this discussion is fun to have, it's necessary to keep in mind a very important fact. When...
