Not that this is a silver lining, but....
So we're not exactly have a banner season. I've seen seasons like this many times in the past (as far as our record is concerned, please don't elaborate here), and it seems we're headed for something like a 7-5, 8-4 season. I know, I know, could be 9-3 and I sure hope so. But I think we've all seen this kind of season before. And it usually leads to something like a Gator Bowl or Music City Bowl or some other random bowl at year's end.
I remember there being some rumblings at the end of last year that the Gator Bowl/Papa John's Bowl (whatever it's called) was interested in a certain if they were able to become bowl eligible (which they weren't). It looks like they will be "bowl eligible" this year, seeing as how they have now won 6 games and likely no more.
So please, your thoughts: WVU vs. Michigan, bowl game this year. Possibilities? I think any city would love to get this kind of clash to host a bowl between these teams.
Discuss.
Da'Sean Butler revisited--great vs. good (the answer is very clear now)
Previously this was up for debate. Is Da'Sean really one of the greats to play basketball at WVU? I think Da is definitely one of the best ever for a number of reasons.
Has anyone seen those "Legends" commercials on TV? Hot Rod=definitely. Jerry West=without a doubt. Gansey=well, maybe. Pittsnogle=not too sure about that one. Granted, Gansey and Pittsnogle were very good. But to put them in the same category as West and Hundley? I think that's a bit of a stretch.
But Butler? A couple of weeks ago, I may have been slightly skeptical to do so. Today, I would without a doubt. Da'Sean is a proven leader on and off the court. The only scorers ahead of him are West and Hundley. His attitude is always great, never mouthy/cocky (that I've seen), and always there for the team and for WVU first. I've heard about a lot of charity work and kids programs he's participated in, which I believe says a lot about him as well.
I know there's quite a bit I'm not mentioning here, but bottom line here is that Da'Sean Butler IS definitely one of the greats and he WILL BE a legend at WVU.
Did anyone else see this garbage on ESPN.com?
Front page of the college basketball section, a poll asking how WVU should be punished for throwing objects on the court.

What a crock. I have a number of problems with this entire fiasco, and a lot of things don't add up. I'm not placing any blame, but simple logic would tell anyone that has half a brain something doesn't add up.
Why hasn't anyone scrutinized the video of the coach getting hit in the face with a coin? I mean, isn't this the age of technology? They have god-knows-how-many cameras in the Coliseum during the game--don't you think someone could review those videos to see what happened? This would seem like the the most simple thing to do, and would also logically seem to be the best first step.
Youtube videos and other replays are not the best quality. However, most WVU wear gold to WVU sporting events. There are a few that wear blue, but the majority wears gold. However, there was a sea of dark blue in the area that the "throw" came from. Not placing blame, just saying.
Has anyone out there every thown a coin further than 20 feet or so an actually hit what you were aiming at? If you have, you're much better than I am. Who's to say what the intended target was here, but seeing as how a coin is flat and can easily curve, maybe, just maybe, someone was throwing said coin at another target. Again, just saying.
One other thing--visiting fanbases typically sit together in the same section(s) at opposing teams' home arenas. What would be the repercussions if during a heated moment of our game at Pitt, a WVU fan "happened" to throw objects on the court (maybe at a referee or who knows), and no one "happened" to see it. And even though the crowd was asked to turn in anyone throwing stuff, nobody spoke up. Would Pitt be put under the microscope as WVU has been? Not saying this will happen, just what if.
I don't claim to be the smartest person in the world, but this round peg won't fit into their square hole.
The big problem
I remember being at a game at Mountaineer Field when, unfortunately, we were getting our asses handed to us by Pitt. It was back in the 80's. It was a very rainy day. I know that's not a very good way to start, but bear with me. It has a good ending.
Tough game, but....
I'm still going to say I'm happy Bill Stewart is our coach. Now I know there's probably a lynch mob of you out there that are ready to hunt me down for saying that, but last night's game, although painful, really wasn't that bad. As I sit here right now watching the Michigan game (and cheering like hell for Illinois), that pathetic commercial for the Big Ten aired. And there he was--"Come to Michigan" he says. Two minutes worth of watching the game and one commercial is all it took to remind me why I like Bill Stewart.
