Silver Seven helping to keep Silver Seven "Active"

So i just recently read that some few around these parts feel that this site is a bit inactive, if you will. So to give Peter and Darren a hand, I'll bring about a few thoughts in mine.

Though #1

Why doesn't the Senators organization hold an exibition game in preseason against the Ottawa sens and the Binghamton Sens?

Pittsburgh does it, Philly does it, why don't we?

It would be a hit wherever it is, i'd all been in good fun for all of us to watch such a game.

Thought #2:

It's true that Binghamton is holding a regular season game at scotiabank place this year, against the Hamilton Bulldogs (Montreal's affiliate for those who didn't know.)

Does anyone in ottawa seem interested in the concept, or even plan on going? (I might even go, if there's a bus trip up there, tickets shouldn't cost to much}

-I'm throwing in some questions here, so obviously, some feedback would be appreciated.-

Silver Seven Meeting coach Nauchbar first hand.

Tomorrow should be a very exciting day for hockey fans in the city of binghamton, when the new skipper, Don Nauchbar is expected to make his debut to the public at the arena (as commonly referred to as) From 6 to 8 he will be making a speech, answering questions and conversing with some fans. Some of you can imagine that i'm really looking forward to this event. This is something that the organization has never done for us in the past, and i'm impressed that they're taking the time (as well as Nauchbar) to keep us here in binghamton involved, excited and informed.

Best of all the scorecard (bar across the street from the rink) is offering select meals half off for the night. woot!!!

Expect updates after the event tomorrow for my verdict.

Silver Seven Binghamton: a prime example of why America loves hockey too.

"Cup returns to the states: the land where nobody cares"  This is a headline that caught my attention.

It is widely thought that nobody in the States really does care about hockey as compared to other North American sports. I won't deny that the super bowl or the world series gets higher ratings than the Cup Finals, but i think our label on the U.S. and hockey should be drastically changed.

I'm from the Binghamton area, and I've closely followed the Senators since 02 when they came to town, when i was only 10. They made me love the game of hockey. Binghamton has had a rich history of AHL hockey since the early 70's with the Lockhart Cup finalists Broome Dusters, Binghamton Whalers, the Binghamton Rangers (where Alex Kovalev played 8 games) and the most recent, the Senators. We also have a baseball team here. If you put two and two together, you would figure that baseball is America's past time and the Mets are much more popular than the Senators in Binghamton. Not the case. In fact, Binghamton, as the smallest AHL market has one of the highest consistent attendance numbers in the league. Hockey is a huge deal in Binghamton. We as a city simply love hockey. We stick up for our team when they're at the bottom or top of the division, we boo Alex Nikulin every time he comes back to town, the name Denis Hamel is as  much a common household name as Barack Obama in the winter here. Our hockey is right under the microscope with the local press from October to April just as it is with the fans. To round up everything i just said, we are truly a proud, passionate hockey town. Unfortunately our playoff drought has been blamed by general management in Ottawa, which i honestly think is unfair because i know Murray is just trying to clean up the mess Muckler made of the prospect system. Obviously not everyone knows in detail what happens in Ottawa, but in our defense, we're just frustrated by our playoff drought. which will end very soon i foresee.

So the point i'm trying to make in my first post on this site is that hockey is in fact loved by americans. In my opinion the hockey fanbase here is QUIETLY just as strong as other sports fanbases in the United States. And being from bingo land, i knew my hometown would be an excellent example to express my statement.

If you liked my post, expect more in the future.
