MMA & Boxing Lover / Gamer / Tech Geek / Family Man
I first got into MMA when Shamrock went to WWE. I heard he fought in this Ultimate Fighting no rules tournament and decided to rent some UFC videos. Been a fan ever since.
==========================================================================
Tito Ortiz is the 1st fighter to make me feel like MMA was just as big and exciting as Boxing. Love him or hate him IMO he raised MMA to another level. Major props to him for that.
==========================================================================
I wish all champions defended their belts like Chuck Liddell used to. He ALWAYS went for the kill, always! Never did he try to eek out a win just so he could hang on to his belt. That is the epitome of being a Champion. Much respect, Chuck.

Updating UFC's PPV Production
The UFC does so many things right. It is the undisputed #1 MMA organization in the world for a reason. But its lacking in some very minor departments that if updated could go a long longway in helping UFC and MMA come off as more mainstream, legitimate and truly professional sporting event. Here are just a few of my suggestions.
*Gladiator intro needs to go away or be completely redone with new music. Get rid of the cheesy outdated music and opera chants during Tale of the Tapes
*Needs more of a sporting event feel, less nu-metal rock concert, WWE attitude vibe. Face the Pain needs to face the trash can and dive in.
*Better crowd lighting. UFC events are too dark on camera. I'm not saying it needs to be really bright in there but maybe they could add some colored lighting to the audience like Top Rank did with a beautiful blue tint in the Pac/Margs fight.
*New canvas color. The current color is very drab and does not look good in HD. They need something with more pop. I love the blue WEC cage and the logos are still very visible. Boxing mostly uses blue and it works great.
*Commentators should both wear jackets. Affliction makes sport coats don't they, Rogan? Again this is just part of appealing to an even broader worldwide audience.
*Add a 3rd man to the commentary. Kenny Florian, Mir or Randy. Someone with real fight experience that actually adds to the fight with different insight.
*Compustrike or Fight Metric stats. This is a no brainer. Stats are a part of professional sports and MMA should be no different. Giving out the numbers after each fight or round would be great.
*No prelim fights directly after the main event. Closing comments from Goldy and Rogan immediately after the main event. Sign off with a prelim fight if enough time. Hardcores still get their prelims fight and casuals still get to hear the closing commentary. Right now as it is most people do not stick around for it.
*National Anthems on Title fights. Every professional sporting event has this. Also, this is a opportunity to get star singers to do guest appearances on UFC PPV's by singing the National Anthem should an American fighter fight for the title.
It's not a lot but it can go a long way. These changes will not deter the young males but it WILL make the older males take a more serious look at the sport. Why just target the young crowd? If they want the NFL fans and more they will need to up their production. There is absolutely no reason why the Premier MMA company on the planet should come off as second rate or cheap.
Please give your opinion and if you want to do something like at least get the UFC to notice, Retweet and Like it. Thanks.
*UPDATE 12/12/2010: It seems as though the majority of people are liking most of these ideas except for the National Anthems. No big deal, if we can get at least some of these other things updated it would be great!

UFC 100 Was Awesome Yet Was Still Missing Something...
A while back I posted a Fanpost about things I would like to see at UFC 100. Well, UFC 100 has come and gone and even though they didn't have many surprises I still loved it. I know it wasn't just me that thought something special was missing from the show because I've read others say the same. Yes, it was an overall great show but, something was missing. Here's what I would have loved for Dana and Co to have done.
Singing of The National Anthem In The Main Event
I dunno, to me this was a given. Get a huge popstar from the US since they are both Americans and do the damn thing. All major sporting events do this and UFC dropped the ball.
Randy Couture Should Have Been Guest Commentator
Yes I love our same ole' usual Goldie and Joe combo but nothing beats the 3 of these guys doing the broadcast. I missed him there that night. Damnit, Dana! Or maybe he just didnt want to... >:(
Buffer 180 and 360 Should Have Been Televised
Need I say more? He's never going to do it again. I could have at least saved it on my DVR in Teh HDzzzz!!!1
The Guys Should Have Worn A Tux.
At least a tux with a tie instead of bowtie. When I saw Rogan and his striped shirt I just rolled my eyes. How many times has he worn that shirt now? lol
No New Intro, Same Ole' Song and Dance Gladiator
Goodness gracious, they could have at least remixed it or something!
New HOF's
They should have at least shown a nice clip of Liddell and Masks HOF inductions...
No New Belts
I know I know, a lot of you like the current ones. I just think they look cheezy with the big ass UFC Logo. They also don't have the weight classes on there. IMO the Strikeforce belt looks better. Tsk Tsk.
Celebs Where Art Thou?
You just KNOW there were more famous people than Jason Statham in the crowd. UFC needs to show the casuals that everyone even famous people are crazy about UFC!

UFC 99 The Comeback: Cain Velasquez's Performance

Is everyone forgetting that Brock almost did the EXACT same thing against Herring (dominated 3 rounds with superior wrestling and positioning) and he was praised to hight heaven for it? No one questioned his power or ability to finish a fight did they? Last night Cain showed me something. He showed me he will do whatever it takes to defeat his opponent and that he's NOT (as some of you here have been saying) "one of the new wrestlers who's in love with his striking". He showed tremendous heart and endurance. Kongo is one big mofo am I right? It's going to be hard for anyone to finish him.
In my honest opinion I think Cain needs one more fight before a shot at the title letting him have some time where he can keep on improving his standup and defense. But, if he got the shot next I think it would be ok. Too bad Mirko left because I really think that would have been a great fight though in the end Cain would have beaten him as well.
Side Note: Rogans commentary on the Cain fight yesterday was horrid. It's like he was pulling for Kongo the whole time. Very annoying. This is why I say Florian should take over for him.
Joe Soto crowned First Bellator Champion on Friday's featherweight tournament!
After winning two previous fights to advance to the tournament finale, Joe Soto and Yahir Reyes met in the night's main event with the winner receiving Bellator's first belt and a $100,000 bonus check.
The championship bout turned out to be a blowout. Soto, who advanced to the finale with previous wins over Ben Greer and tournament favorite Wilson Reis, dominated the first round of their bout with ground and pound and ultimately scored the fight-ending submission (via rear-naked choke) at 4:11 of the second round.
Soto, who moved to 7-0 with the victory, has now posted stoppages in six of his seven wins. Six of his seven wins have come in the past 11 months.
With the win, Soto earns a total of $175,000 for his three-fight stint in Bellator
