PensBurgh HELLOOO PLAYOFFSSSS !

Alright, where have I been this season? Not on this website. :( I promise I'm not going to write something, leave for a year than come back. I am here, and here to stay! hahaha. Is it just me or has this season just FLEW by? Wowww. Well, let's get it started shall we? The PENS are back in the playoffs once again for the 4th season in a row! :)

Sports8_500_medium

Crosby is determined...

Well, for the 3RD (Thank you Hockey Beard in SLC ) season in a row, the Senators are ONCE AGAIN our first round opponents. Stats playing the Sens?  2-1. Not bad, not bad. Sportscenter (here in Canada) says the Pens have this series in 6.

NOTES:

1) Pens offense is to much force for the Sens.

2) Fleury is NOT questionable in the playoffs. He is one of the greatest goaltenders in this league and he has a cup under his belt, he knows the Senators and he knows what the playoffs are about. Have faith!

3) Spezza/Alfredsson are no match compared to Malkin/Crosby. Ever since Malkin has come back, he has fire under his ass.

4) Ottawa young gun Karlsson has been unreal, but if their relying on a rookie defenseman to take them to the Stanley Cup (us Pens fans have been THERE before) than they are out of their minds. We have 3rd liners and 4th liners to run their defense, what do they have, Phillips? Let me remind you all how great Phillips has been for the Sens..

well that's a fail.

SCHEDULE

Game 1, TOMORROW, Wednesday, April 14th.. 7 Oh Clock start, VS the Sens...Yupp, Mellon Arena! Last playoffs the Pens will ever see in the Igloo! :(

Game 2, Friday, April 16th. VS Ottawa, Mellon. 7 o'clock start.

Game 3, Sunday, April 18th. @ Ottawa, Scotiabank. 6:30 Start!

Game 4, Tuesday, April 20th. @ Ottawa, Scotiabank, 7.

Game 5, Thursday, April 22nd. VS Ottawa, Mellon, 7. *

Game 6, Saturday, April 24th. @ Ottawa, Scotiabank, 7.*

Game 7, Tuesday, April 27th. VS Ottawa, Mellon, 7. *

of course the ** indicating IF NECESSARY. Sure they won't be though. :) GO PENS.

Elsewhere in the Eastern Conference playoffs match ups ,

- Ovy and the Caps will be facing Halak and the Canadiens, Game 1 of their series start Thursday..It is quite clear that Washington will be or SHOULD be winning this series..But wouldn't it be great if they didn't...

- The Flyers will be losing their game 1 tomorrow night as they face the Devils in New Jersey.

- Buffalo hosts the Big Bad Bruins on Friday, should be an interesting series..

Out West!

- Possibly the best series to watch. Detroit VS Phoenix.. Can the rusted Coyotes compete with Datsyuk, Zetterberg and the new and improved Franzen? With a questionable goaltender, the Red Wings are hoping for a 3rd Stanley Cup Finals appearence while Shane Doan and his dogs are hoping to even pass round 1! Game 1 tomorrow night @ 10. Anyone willing to stay up that late should take a look!

- Also, another exciting series, the San Jose Sharks VS the Colorado Avalanche.. Dany Heatley VS Matt Duchene? Hmm.. Congrats to Matt Duchene for a hell of a year. Game 1 tomorrow night @ 10:30..

- The Sedins and Nucks host Brown, Kopitar, Doughty and the Kings on Thursday. 10:30 start.

- And last but not least, second place Hawks go head to head with 7th place Predators...Game 1, Friday, 8:30 start!

Lottery winner, EDMONTON OILERS.

Windsor Spitfire Taylor Hall, or Plymouth Whaler Tyler Seguin?

NHL Draft just around the corner!

Right now, Taylor is 1, 7 game series away from the Memorial Cup finals! ...While Tyler on the other hand got swept in the playoffs by...None other than Hall and his Spitfires.. Tyler is ranked 1st in central scoutings, only because of his size. Hall is a skilled, fast player who scores goals and drives hard to the net..What the Oilers need. Not only that, but Seguin was cut from Team Canada (World Juniors) while Taylor made it coming back from an injury.

40-66-106 in 57 games, even while INJURED no one was able to surpass him.. This is what Edmonton NEEDS! Forget size, this kid is 6'1 and 185 pounds of pure talent and grit! He's fast and agile on his feet. No one will be able to touch him..With Eberle, Horcoff, Hemsky, Gagner, Penner and Cogliano already key players, Edmonton will be making a come back.. Hall brings momentum to any fan AND team!

Hmmm...

It's a clear choice, Hall for the win.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright, going to an emotional topic..The league is most likely to say goodbye to Mike Modano ... :( Modano, 39, has played in 11 NHL seasons, the GREATEST American player hockey will ever see of ALL-TIME. I will beat up anybody who disagrees..Most goals, points, playoff points and games played than any other American. Mike Modano, the hockey world thanks you! #9, you have done us proud!

X610_medium

Marty Turco and Keith Tkachuk have also decided to hang em up...Or Turco is sure thinking it..

Turco made his decision not long after Modano's, *not a sure decision, but it does look like he may just not be returning..* :( ...A hell of a goaltender who's flashy pads and stack em up style will be missed dearly.. :(

Turko_medium

Tkachuk, who you could say was pretty much the back bone of the Blues, along with Kariya, has a total of 1,065 points in 1,201 games, respectively, has been a player Blues fans have loved to watch as soon as he made impact by entering the organization in the last games of the 2000-01 season. 6 goals and 8 points in those 12 finals games...His first games as a St.Louis Blue! Where they eventually went on to lose to the Colorado Avalanche in the playoffs, (winners of that year.) Happy retirement Tkachuk! You will be missed.

PensBurgh Hockey is Back!!

Well I'm back!!! And so is the new hockey season! =) Tomorrow night we get a game broadcast-ed from Terrace, British Columbia, a game featuring the New York Islanders going head to head with the Vancouver Canucks! Should be a good one to watch, due to the fact that it IS the first game of the entire NHL season!!

123012_feature_medium

Now, I'm just gonna start off with the drafts, and how some people think that some of these guys won't even be a factor...Well, let me tell you this much.. Do you think that by adding John Tavares to the Islanders won't do much...? Just think of it for a little...Umm, yes!?? John Tavares is JUST what they need to get the team going. He provides so much energy, he can handle the puck, he adds pressure, he can be defensive when needed, he's an all-around gifted athlete! I'm not saying the Islanders are gonna win the cup, but he sure as hell gets them going!

3155654964_f4b73a51d3_medium

Victor Hedman was also a big name going into the draft this year, his big body presence and amazing sense of play will be a huge boost on the defensive line for the Lightning!

229385-86116_medium

And finishing off with the drafts, one name that caught my eye, even though we all saw it coming, the Colorado Avalanche have snatched forward Matt Duchene! This kid does everything! Score goals. beautiful plays, he sees everything and if you put him anywhere on the ice, he will blend in in no time. He's been the one hockey player I was looking forward to seeing in the draft....

090624mattduchene_medium

, and we'll be seeing ALL of these phenomenal athletes this season to! =)

Key rookies to look out for in the 2009/10 season :

EVANDER KANE for the Atlanta Thrashers.

BRAYDEN SCHENN for the Los Angeles Kings. (Brother LUKE plays for Toronto...And Los Angeles will definetly be a certain team to look out for...They've got their players rolling!)

RYAN ELLIS for the Nashville Predators.

ZACK KASSIAN for the Buffalo sabres.

DMITRY KULIKOV for the Florida Panthers.

EKMAN LARSSON for the Phoenix Coyotes...

And of course the triple threat, the 1st three drafted named above, John Tavares for the New York Islanders, Victor Hedman for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and lastly, Matt Duchene for the Colorado Avalance!

A8bbf535b8dc4fd68b199ce9a96ae138nhl_20all_20star_202009_medium

Dany Heatley has been finally traded.....

Heatley finally got his wish Saturday when the Ottawa Senators ended months of speculation and controversy by granting his trade request, sending him and a fifth-round pick in the 2010 Entry Draft to the San Jose Sharks in a blockbuster deal that netted Milan Michalek, Jonathan Cheechoo and a second-round 2010 pick.

Woohoo...At first the whole idea was exciting, now it's just like. About time? Well, we'll just wait and see what happens!

Heatley_dany_vert_ap_260_medium

Some other big trades, JAY BOUWMEESTER has landed a role on the blue line for the Calgary Flames. MATTIAS OHLUND has signed with the Lightning. MARIAN HOSSA is on the move again, this time in the Windy City. Why is it that every time he moves he brings like a curse? Poor Chicago, I don't mind the Hawks.. DWAYNE ROLOSON is out of Edmonton, he might just be the starter for the New York Islanders! But Edmonton didn't lose, because NIKOLAI KHABIBULIN will be throwing an Oilers jersey on for now. HAL GILL decided to leave the Pens, he has signed with the Canadiens.. Pittsburgh has signed enforcer MIKE RUPP. MIKE CAMMALLERI has signed with Montreal as well, while MIKE KOMISAREK has signed with the Leafs. MARIAN GABORIK has signed with the Rangers. MARTIN HAVLAT was moved forcefully, he wanted to stay in Chicago, but they had no room for him! Poor guy. He now has to play for the Minnesota Wild. NIK ANTROPOV has signed with the Rangers. ADRIAN AUCOIN has signed with Phoenix. ROB SCUDERI is no longer with the Penguins. :( He has signed with Los Angeles. MIKAEL SAMUELSSON has left Detroit, signs with the Vancouver Canucks. SHANE HNIDY signed with Minnesota. CHRIS HIGGINS signs with the New York Rangers. ANDREW RAYCROFT has signed with Vancouver, ALEXEI KOVALEV has left the Habs for a rival, the Ottawa Senators. SAKU KOIVU has signed with Anaheim. PATRICK EAVES signed with Detroit. VACLAV PROSPAL is no longer a Bolt, he has signed with the Rangers. TODD BERTUZZI is back with the Red Wings. MATHIEU SCHNEIDER signed with the Canucks. ALEX TANGUAY now with the Lightning. Sabres sign DREW STAFFORD and finally, THEO FLEURY is thinking of making a return! The Calgary Flames have offered him a try-out.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

Other news that happened during the summer break.....Patrick Kane got arrested....Didn't get charged. The NHL stars have taken over the 2010 Vancouver Olympic hockey camps....The Penguins had a slamming good time with the Cup this summer...I saw Doug Gilmour in Kingston on my way back from the States...And apparently there's an NHL hockey player that lives like half an hour away from me because he just signed with Ottawa....We shall see about that!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

Okay. Penguin time. I'm pretty sure I covered everything else ? If not...Than it's not important. The Penguins have re-signed Ruslan Fedotenko, which I was VERY excited and happy to hear. He was fantastic last season when he woke up. Hopefully this year he'll STAY awake and not take that much time to get it going!

Fedotenko_fight_ap_260_medium

Well, we lost Gill....And Scuderi...Very, very very sad...Well, look on the bright side! We've got Mike Rupp to try and take their places! :O Haha. Rupp.....

29, played 72 games with the New Jersey Devils this season, collecting nine points (three goals, six assists) along with 136 penalty minutes. Rupp appeared in seven games with the Devils tallying 14 penalty minutes during the post season.

The 6-5, 230-pound winger has played parts of six seasons with the New Jersey Devils, Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Phoenix Coyotes from 2002-2009, including two stints with the Devils. Rupp won the Stanley Cup in 2003 with New Jersey, contributing three points (one goal, two assists) in a 3-0 win over Anaheim in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Okay..Let's see what he can do!

Amd_davidclarkson_medium

Pens have re-signed G John Curry, RW Craig Adams and RW Bill Guerin! (YES! lol...I don't know about you guys, but I was bouncing off walls when I heard about Guerin!) Have signed D Nate Guenin from Philadelphia, D Chris Lee from the Islanders, RW Chris Conner from the Stars, D Jay Mckee from St.Louis...Have re-signed D Ben Lovejoy...Have signed G Brent Johnson....Have LOST.. D Hal Gill to the Montreal Canadiens...G Mathieu Garon to the Colombus Blue Jackets....D Rob Scuderi to the Los Angeles Kings... :( .....LW Jeff Taffe to the Florida Panthers...F Chris Menard to the Edmonton Oilers, and D Andy Wozniewski to the Boston Bruins.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

Good notes: CROSBY has not been injured! Woooot! Good start.. All of our boys are up and ready to go! Hopefully we can start off with a big bang and not get the stupid curse of the "cup hangover"...Yeahh...If you don't know what I mean, it's when a team wins the Stanley Cup, than play like crap the next season..Well, it's not gonna happen with the Pens! So watch out for those deadly rookies, new and upgraded NHL teams and let's have a hell of a good time this year! :D

Go Penguins!!

PensBurgh PENS MOVE ON.

Yupp no cheesy title this time!

That save right there, is the one that got the Pens going. Fleury, was amazing. Yes he did in fact leave his net on the Ovechkin goal, but come on...I don't think it really matters. It will though matter in the Conference Finals. Fleury needs to stop those rebounds, stay in his net, and the puck NEEDS to be stopped. Canes OR Bruins.

Fleury's spark got the whole team going. Something we needed for a while... The TEAM to get going. Fleury fell asleep, it's something we can forgive him about....This time. Then again, it's glad to know he's top-shape when needed, and he won't bust his ass if we got a huge lead.

What else fell asleep? The Caps. I wasn't expecting that, at all. I was looking forward to a 4 period Overtime game....I was wrong. But I'll glady take it. :)

Very great forchecking, backcheking, the pressure was unreal, Gonchar didn't mess himself up playing, so now he's got more time to rest. Theodore graced us with his presence, Varlamov will want revenge next season.. So will Ovechkin. Should be a sick 09/10 season.....

but....THIS ONE'S NOT OVER! PENS ARE OFF TO THE CONFERENCE FINALS.

Against the winner of tonight's Boston - Carolina match. I guess I don't know who I really want winning, we'll take any of em. :)

WINGS - DUCKS tonight. Hoping Anaheim will be mighty. I have a game myself, so I'll only be able to catch about an hour of it. :( And I'm in a hurry now, just really wanted to post Fleury's highlight reel save... Atta boy FURY. :)

THREAD GUYS - the ones I talked to during the game, thanks for making me less nervous, and for all the laughs. It was quite amazing. Hahahaha. I shall definetly be on the next thread. :)

Anywho! GO PENGUINS. (and ducks for tonight......)

PS: Crosby is the man. Our boy = 2 goals, 1 assist. (1 of them on Theo. :D )

Well, we all know what the Pens got to do. We could say everything we want, but it's THEM that have to prove it. So I'll do my job as a fan, to support. So, Pens. This is it guys. We're all behind you. Go in there and prove yourselves. You can either show up, or go home and wish you played better, knowing that wishing won't make a difference. Believe boys, believe.

This video may not be the newest, but I'm positive the message is clear.

PensBurgh Hard Pill To Swallow.

16capitals_penguins_hockey

Well, we saw it coming. As surprised, sad, angry, devastated or whatever it was you were last night...It was not a surprise.

Penguins knew the Washington Capitals were going to come out and play for their lives out there. For a while, the Pens knew it, and counter attacked. Then, they just....Left the game. We can't say it was ALL the goaltender's fault...We can't say it was ALL the defencemen's fault...And we can't say it was ALL the forwards...Really, it was just...ALL. We kinda just drifted off after getting the first goal. Like I said in my previous post, we know how to win, we just can't forget how to GET THERE first. Well, you win as a team, you lose as a team. It's just how it goes. Crosby said in his post-game reaction that none of the Pens were surprised that it was going back in Verizon for a game 7. Well, I guess that's a good thing? What's not good, is that well, it's an away game. Pens beat them there before, but it was hard. Can they do it again?

46823981_medium

I think it's safe to say, we all need Gonchar. It's a problem and a very hard struggle without him. Letang is doing the best he can respectively, but, it's just not enough. The kid called up from Wilkes, (Goligoski) played an alright game. Recorded his first assist of the playoffs. Well done, can you please do more? Marc-Andre, I don't get this guy? One minute he's making amazing saves, (the one on Ovie was beautiful) and the next he's trying to be a third defencemen making you go..."Fleury! What the hell are you doing? Get back in your net!" Well, that's where we need him, IN HIS NET. It's going to drive me insane here pretty soon...5 hole needs to be shut. Not on Varly, but on Flower. That Semin shot could have been prevented...But then again, so could have ALL the goals. Gill, we know you're supposed to have your goaltender's back... NOT LITERALLY. Wtf are you doing? Try going in FRONT of the net, not IN it.

Caps were due for a win in Overtime, Pens who went 5-0 going into last night's game were sadly, and in the most horrid time, due for a loss. Hopefully Pens strike the next one. This series has gone pretty unpredictable, you think the Pens or Caps will win at home and both drop one..You think Varlamov would be able to handle the Pens' pressure, he hasn't.. We thought the refs would be decent since they sucked all around...Not a chance.

Well, I'm not worried. I know you might be thinking...Are you crazy? Well, call me crazy because I'm not the least bit of worried. Pens knew what was coming, and I'm positive it's gonna be a tough battle, but the Pens can come out on top.

Few Notes:

I take my hat off for Jordan Staal, he was just phenomenal in last night's game. Number 11 for the Pens has showed up this series, hopefully he will come out with a bang tomorrow.

Kris Letang has shown himself to be a respected defencemen. When they told him he'd be taking over for a veteran, he did. He's still young, but he has the presence of someone who gained a lot of experience. He reminds me of the Niedermayer's...

Malkin looked lost. At the beginning, superb! But than......Umm....Bye? So did half the team. I was expecting Fedotenko/Talbot and Satan to show up a bit more.

Brooks Orpik is undestructable. That guy will block shots from wherever/whenever.

Phil Boucher made his presence known last night. The guy saved us a goal, low right side of the crease by making a wonderful shot block.

As much as you might disagree, Marc-Andre Fleury is going to have to stop more pucks if we're going to win this. Over 35 shots on Varly yesterday and in the 20's on Fleury. 5 goals on 20 shots is disappointing. That OT goal was a bit sad. I understand the pressure he's under, but if you can kill Samuellson with your left pad....

610x_medium

....you can DESTROY Steckel with your low glove..I swear he could have just moved over and it would have been stopped...Or if he had his glove down..

Jovrwqcbatvaqgw

Sid and Geno have got to make themselves more presentable in Game 7. Although Captain Crosby got us the big tying goal, I still feel there was something missing...Geno is on/off. Time to click the on button Evgeni, and keep it on.

I know my post is early, but I had to get it off my mind. And sorry if there's like..NO pictures on this post, I'm kind of tired.

PensBurgh 1 Night. Still an Endless Fight.

Don't you guys just love my cheezy titles these days....

610x_medium

Anyhow! What a game that was. I gotta say, I was pretty nervous heading into that 3rd period. But if we keep throwing shots out at Varly, we'll get it done. You know what they say, chances at one end, massive checks by 1 team and a roaring crowd always results in a goal in the other end...Looks like it's not always the first line either.. Jordan Staal, Ruslan Fedotenko and Miro Satan showed up that game like a group of wild dogs. They were great! For those who think that it's all the Crosby show, it's not. He's just the host. The Penguins are starting to use their entire team to produce, and if they can keep it up, we can move on victorious. But that's the thing, we have to forget about the future and figure out a way to GET there before we open our mouths. The Pens new they were making it to the Finals last year, they just forgot how to win it. They met a strong group of veterans and I think everyone knew it was over...That's the problem. Whether you think it's over or not, you show up with a fight. Not that the Penguins didn't, the Wings were just to strong and that's it. Penguins are learning from experience, and that's what their doing in this series as well. They're starting to understand what the Capitals are coming up with, and matching their level. Which is where the word "experience" comes in. Pens know what their doing and they don't want history to repeat itself. Speaking of history repeating itself, the Pens could possibly just do that with a win at home tonight..On a bright note. Coming back in a Washington Capitals series and winning. They've done it before, we all know they can do it again.

Also, in 1995, the Caps had a 3-1 series lead and wound up losing to the Penguins in seven games.

The past doesn't change.....The future does.....

Legends-rookies_medium

Than, Ovechkin comes in. He got a pair of goals and an assist for 3 points the other night and I read an article today saying this EXACT quote.

Ovechkin, "If anyone thinks it's over...It's not. It won't end tonight and were back here (in Washington). Game 7.

Hmm. I'll tell you one thing, nothing gets me more frustrated than seeing a "top-star" superstar say something like that. I don't know, but for me, I'd rather for actions to speak louder than words. Especially if those words happen to be quite massive. That is a pretty huge prediction there Alex, now are you positive of yourself...? Is that Cockiness? Or confidence?

Definitely cockiness. Ovechkin, grow up. Be a man for once because right now, I think you should learn how to spell "You Suck" before saying it.

Sid?

"The last one is always the toughest one, and we're just as hungry for it as they are," added Crosby. "We're lucky that we're going home for it."

Well done Captain.

Crosby-ovechkin_medium

That's the thing between Alex and Sid. Alex uses himself, and we see it. Crosby wants the whole team in this because he knows 1 guy can't lead a team to victory. The 3rd and 4th line saved our asses in game 5 WITHOUT Gonchar. You have to be quite a great leader to give momentum to your team to make you go through a game knowing you've got to win it. Especially to get your entire team knowing that getting through to their heads that it's do or die. Same as tonight. What will he come up with this evening?

Crosbyvsovechkin_medium

Few Notes:

Don't expect the Penguins to let off easy because their at home, expect them to add more pressure than before, and a lot of desperation.

610x_medium

Capitals may be desperate as well, but the Penguins know it. Might see a frustrated Ovechkin/Capitals.

610x_medium

Fleury will probably be top-notch. Unless he lets the pressure go under him..Usually not the case, he lets in goals because he doesn't get action..If MAF gets action right away, we got a win.

610x_medium

3rd/4th line will be available. The whole team will be as well. Get set to watch the boys we've been waiting for...

610x_medium

Although, ..Probably...Without Gonchar. You can't freeze a knee like you can a shoulder, (Letang) so Sergei is MOST LIKELY out, Goligoski in. (I'm saying most likely because it is a prediction...If I'm wrong, hell, we're all happy.) But, I doubt Super Sergei (doesn't that sound like a bad male stripper name?...or not.) will be back.

PensBurgh Bam Bam, We're in it Again!

89609_feature_medium

Wow, haven't been on here in a while. Been quite busy myself but I have been coming on, reading a bit of the posts here and there, but haven't had the time to actually make one myself. How about those Pens! I had quite the scare 2 games in a row, also with the Caps getting the first goal, but when your a fan, you cheer no matter what right? Looks like it payed off!

Alg_penguins-fans_medium

I'm quite dissapointed with Ovechkin....Well not quite, actually really p... off. 51 goals or not you don't do that. To anyone. He said it was accidental, that Gonchar moved. Well hell, if you saw Ovechkin lining up to hit you would you just stand there and take it? No, I didn't think so. OF COURSE HE MOVED. But the fact that he STUCK HIS KNEE OUT, changes everything. Do you accidentally stick your knee out when you know your shoulder won't get in contact with the opposing player? No, you don't. Unless your name happens to be Sean Avery, but that's beside the point.

610x_medium

I read a post saying Gonchar was out for tonight, and Goligoski was in.. Alex is a good defencemen, he may not be up to Sergei's standards but with Letang being the man that he is right now, I think we can get it done....But, it is still a game-time decision.... I have no clue where it actually says Gonchar's out..? I know Bylsma wants to dress seven defencemen if Gonchar is in, so either way, Goligoski has his playing time...

Alex, who is 23 yrs old...

registered 20 points (six goals, 14 assists) in 45 contests during the regular season with Pittsburgh.  He began the season with the Penguins appearing in 44 games and recording a plus-five rating    He notched his first NHL goal Oct. 5 versus Ottawa.  Before being re-assigned, Goligoski led all rookie defensemen with six goals, 14 assists and 20 points, while tying for fifth among all rookies with eight power-play points (four goals, four assists).

Looks like he can help score on the Caps in the season, let's see how he is in the playoffs.

Back to Letang, we all know his best friend has passed away a bit over a year ago..Luc Bourdon, (R.I.P) I read an article yesterday. It hit me. Knowing that players do think of others when they score, same team or not.. Emotional, It's worth the read.

Fleury has been looking shaky at the beginning and some of these goals are questionable in the series, but with that fantastic save on Fedorov, I think it's safe to say we forgive him, and he has more than paid his dues last night. (Last goal was junk anyway..2 or 3 penalties who should have been called?) Speaking of penalties, what is with these bad calls ALL-AROUND in the playoffs? These refs are really suspicious. Not just in the Pens-Caps series, but everywhere. Since the beginning....Hmm...

Malkin, thanks for finally showing up. Thought it was a good time to come in? Anyway, keep it up.

Fedotenko has been quite the player, no doubt.

Varlamov is deadly, we'll need a few more cracks for this series to be over.

Pens fans are honestly the greatest, once I find a picture of "Steel Man" I'm posting it up.

I am, in fact a...Women.. Of my words..Haha, like I said in my previous post, I would completely change my mind on Bylsma if he brought us to the playoffs. So, Bylsma, welcome, and thank you. =) I now have respect for you.

PensBurgh Gametime

Okay, so yesterday the hockey gods frowned upon us. We lost a lead, god some pretty bad goals scored against us, oh and we lost.. To the Senators.. Again. Although it is alright to say, that, a lot of the mistakes that happened yesterday are quite easy to fix. Like the powerplay. What is going on with these passes? Penalties we take aren't so great either....Oh, and MAF, keep your stick down. Our team needs to act more like a team. The goals are beautiful, but why do we always have to come back at some point in a game? We always slack off once we get a goal...Or get a goal scored on us. Like that needs to change BIG time. As I speak, well type, the Flyers are down by 1. Not good, Rangers need to lose this one. Canadiens won last night by a score of 3-1 against the Devils.. Where Brodeur tied Roy's record of 551 wins. Roy was in attendance.. Doesn't matter, Roy's better. =) Lol well, the main focus is keeping a playoff spot, no matter where.. It would be nice to go higher, but, we'll take whatever chance thrown at us! So come on Pens! If ISLANDERS can beat the Bruins, we can to! =D

There's a lesson learned today here boys and girls. When you become a Penguin, you must remain a Penguin.

PensBurgh ...."This Penguins team never died."

That was the one sentence in my head once I turned the television off. It's so true! The entire game I was thinking to myself, nothing is gonna get pass Mason, absolutely nothing... I don't wanna go all anti-Penguin here, (wich I shall NEVER.) but if there's one team out there that I'm not pissed about who beat us, it will absolutely have to be the Colombus Blue Jackets. Up 3-0, lose a defencemen, blow the 3-0 lead, there young goaltender, (best I've seen since Patrick Roy, and I will say it because I've seen Mason play his entire life,) then win in a shootout... It's great hockey! What's greater is that those Penguins looked like a wreck in the first 2 periods. You know what they say, go big or go home... Yeah, we did both, but we left a mark out there tonight. A nice big, "Welcome to the big show, Mase." This game left me sitting the first 2 periods, and even with 32 hits coming into the third, it shows that even if you act tough, it won't help. So the Penguins picked up on that and boom did we give it to em in the third! When I saw the score go up 3-1, I was honestly thinking that's how the game was going to end...I was like, well Mason's gonna learn from his mistakes now and we're gonna get raped now...I was wrong. Completely mistaken. Dupuis second and Talbots fascinating third. At the last second where Peca's shot just trickled by the post, I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. Fleury was great! Vermette's shot looked awkward, Huselius's could have been prevented....Of course, the beautiful 5-hole at the end as well.....To bad Kunitz's shot went off the post...That's a stinger... Anyhow, we got a point. A much deserved point. We actually got 3 great goals behind Mason, I'm so shocked by that. Hahah, like man, 9 shutouts, 2.90 GAA and a .920 save % coming into this game... I smell Calder Cup. Our boys never quit though.

Great game overall.... If it wasn't for you Penguins fans in Nationwide tonight, we would have been steamrolled. You guys gave the Pens so much momentum, and it just shows that Penguins fans stick together no matter what! Goodness there was a lot of you tonight! I give you an ovation. 1 point is good in any game you lose in. Because either way, you win something right?

PensBurgh Let's Not Forget! :)

Although our boys are in a tough time at the moment, let's not forget about what they did bring! Great goals, saves, blocks, an amazing run for the Stanley Cup. Ahh, it's beautiful isn't it. Yeahh, we may play the Hawks tonight, and you might think what? We have no chance.. Toews, Kane, Versteeg, Huet + Khabi, Havlat, Seabrook, Sharp...I could go on, but honestly there's no need to. Names don't make a team, players who work hard for 60 minutes do. Our boys are all-stars alright! Let's not forget... Thought I might give you a clip I found today of Sid, Fleury and Talbot. I came across it and couldn't stop myself from spreading a huge smile on my face!!! Check Fleury at the end, what a beauty.

PensBurgh Kunitz.

Hhahahaha that's sickk. As if Whitney got traded, like I knew he was going to, but I honestly didn't think so sudden.. And alone. By alone, I mean I thought they would have sent Whitney, Staal or Talbot all together for a massive guy, but I mean Chris knows his place. If you piss this guy off, he can get mad. He's a fighter and he won't run away, so I guess that helps a bit in the whole Whitney shying away case.

Beautiful words. :: Ruutu taking down Macdonald on the backcheck and Kunitz jumps in. When was the last time we heard something like that in Pittsburgh? Crosby gets smashed in the face and he's in there all alone... Like, no one helps Crosby, every player in every game always goes after him and because it happens all the time and Sid gets pissed off, he's called a whiner? YO! They attack him EVERY game. I like that Kunitz sticks up for his boys. Good sign.

Umm, if Kris Letang goes anywhere after this season, I'm starting a riot. I'll probably go in a corner and make my own team to cheer for. Then people might not yell at my one defencemen with life, and maybe I'll throw in a new coach just for the hell of it and start all over again. Oh lordy. Poor Pens....

hahahahahaha.... ahh, I am most definetly going crazy. BELIEVE IN BLACK! (and gold.)

PensBurgh Crazy.

I actually was listening to the Caps broadcasters the other day saying how Crosby has nobody in Pittsburgh that defend him when he goes up talking back to players, or taunting, looking for fights, or when opposing players do the same to him and how he's always left alone. That they need a guy in Pittsburgh who WILL do that.. Then they left a long pause going, or will Crosby have enough of it in Pittsburgh?

Is this a sign!???

PensBurgh Pens - Habs.

Okay, the Pens have a chance to gain momentum and some crucial points tonight in the Igloo vs the Habs. I'm pretty sure they'll start Price considering he did a wonderful job last night. Refs were on the Canadiens side the whole night but the Caps proved that that wasn't gonna bring them down. And with a gorgeous goal from Ovechkin....

And that pretty much explains the rest of the game... Other than that, the Jackets keep climbin up! Thatta boy Mase. And let's not forget ours... BIG game tonight. All games are big, but, this one is not only statistical, but personal. They've beaten us twice now that were super close. Let's edge em out tonight!!

Hereeee weee goooo !

A goalie has 0.4 seconds to react. But there's no time saying how a fan should. So, Pens fans, let's go behind our boys and not give up now. Cmonn Pittsburgh, we don't quit! Ever!

PensBurgh Another ouch.

Mann, well it still hurts. Glad all you Pens fans realized Bylsma was great.....

See, now I think if Coach T was still behind the bench would we have seen Letang?

I just ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh mannnn , maybe it is a good thing if the Pens miss the playoffs. We could possibly get a good draft pick who can hold up a line or skate alongside of Sid and score some goals, cause that's what were lacking. Whitney was great today, JORDAN STAAL as well! What a beast!! Defensive, offensive, great player to have. I'm proud. But oh well, at least we gotta point wich is what we haven't really been able to get now. Oh well, next time. Hopefully.

Staal_medium

I'll be looking at the Jackets VS the Stars tonight, go Jackets. (NO I am not turning against the Penguins, they are a wonderful team where my favorite goaltender is playing.. I just hope Steve Mason gets the Calder.. Other than that, go Penguins. And let's not give up on those boys now. Still miss Therrien tho.

PensBurgh Ouchh.

Ouch, is really the 1 word that can pretty much some up yesterday's lost...I mean when you roll into a game with a win over San Jose, (who beat Boston), your best defenceman back, and on top of that, one of your best forwards who were giving you some goals. only to lose a 2-0 lead..To the Leafs. Which I said before, it doesn't matter what team you play against, when you go into a hockey game everything changes.

A team who's lost a ton can just amaze you and completely fool you. Which is exactly what happened last night.  I don't think we got cocky, we just got sloppy. We stopped giving pressure, we let em roll over into our zone and boom - all was lost.

Don't for one, blame any of this on Fleury. He was saving our asses in the first and second. Then the Pens kinda thought, hey if we back off, we have Fleury to pick us up....No. Never. Bad idea. To ANY goaltender. A goaltender might make big saves to give you momentum, but YOU have to score big goals to give HIM momentum and that's where he shines. But when you just forget everything and expect him to bring a win for you is wrong in so many ways. Fleury was left all alone out there and I applaud him for what he did. Even when they were down by the 6th goal he shined and robbed Blake.

Where are our Penguins fans? That's the only thing I can leave this post off with. I'm ashamed, I'm stricken...I just don't understand...We lose, we win as a team...Period. That's it. Hmm, but for some odd reason, everybody just LOVED the Pens last year?? And one loss makes us the worst team ever....I'm sad.

Go Penguins.

PensBurgh Intense Match-Up! (Doesn't Matter What Team You Play)

Well what a game the Penguins played on Wednesday! 2-1 in a shootout...Sound familiar?...Sidney Crosby nets it....Classical...VERY familiar how about? Lemme show you! :)

Hahaha I HAD to use this video just because the guy was booing at the beginning. See the way he lifts the camera up, and off? Probably just didn't want anyone to know he started crying. ;)

ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LEAFS TONIGHT PENGUINS FANS! Don't start laughing. Goodness don't. This hockey team really won't stop. They have suchhh a big heart and they don't look at the statistics of not only their team, or their opponents, they just play and hope to get a win out of it. Wich is exactly how we should start looking at things.  Now this team did in fact kill our lead last time but the past is the past and we need to overcome that loss with a win tonight.

READY FOR THIS GUYS?? Hold your breath. Take a seat. Gonchar. AND Fedotenko. ARE IN FACT IN THE LINEUP TONIGHT! Everyone might just think oh well we'll still lose they're all rusty. All you people who think that, shame on you. My favorite goaltender as you might know as the Calder Trophy Candidate, the "Comeback kid," the 'Return of the Rookie"...Seventh in SAVE%...Leading at 1 with shutouts...AND GAA......YES. Steve Mason, rookie goaltender for the Colombus Blue Jackets. He came back yesterday, from having Mono, and he shut those Wings down. Did you see those fans?? Cmon you guys, don't give up. EVER. I have sooo much faith in this guys and I just wish every Penguins fan should stop sighing when they see Fleury in net, or Whitney giving the puck away... We should NEVER have to be ashamed of our boys. They're OUR BOYS!!! Cheer them on when the crap hits the fan. Every team's been through it, we're no different. Those Jackets don't even care if they might not win the cup but they're soooooooo excited to make the SERIES. Our boys can do whatever/whenever if we just give them a boost. Stop complaining, hold your heads high, and instead of being embarassed or sad about whats happened before. Look at the freakin bright side of things for once and be proud of what we've accomplished. And if that's to hard.....I think the Penguins would be glad to find better fans. So comon! Get up and LET'S GO PENGUINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

Welcome back boys. That may have been a season never forgotten, but great things start from new beginnings.

Remember:

You miss 100% of the shots you never take. - Wayne Gretzky.

PensBurgh Believe.

Gonchar cleared to play for Penguins - NHL.com

That is the first thing any Penguins fan at the moment loves to see. Although there is one intense match up coming up tonight against the Sharks, I think that's already a HUGE moment for Pittsburgh..Knowing Gonchar is ready to play. (He will not be in the lineup tonight though.) But even if he isn't, that is one HUGE boost for the Penguins to get going tonight that really, boys, now is the time to get that huge push for the playoffs. Honestly, if the Pens get atleast 3 goals tonight, I'm gonna be proud. Boston wasn't able to score more than 2 last night in a 5-2 deficit. But I watched Boston, and they played quite sloppy. So, if the Pens are hard on the puck, defensive in there own zone and give some pressure, hell we gotta win tonight. C'mon boys. We're all behind you. Here we go Penguins. It's our time. It ain't over till we say it is....And Pensburgh, does NOT give up, and neither will we.

It's our time.

Go Penguins.

PensBurgh Season is NOT over.

Promoted from FanPosts (FrankD)

I get angry when I get messages on facebook or anywhere that I go online telling me that Penguins suck, or for that matter, "won't make the playoffs for another 5 years." Well, there was alot of criticism when Crosby went down last season but the Penguins came up strong! For some time, it looked as if they could manage WITHOUT Sid...But he is our captain, and his leadership is always needed. But now, they are facing sooo much adversity with Gonchar being out that it's unreal. I mean last year when Sid went down and Malkin and Gonch stepped up, they meshed well with all the lines and found a way around all that criticism and showed that those Penguins were not going down...But why can't they do that now? Yes, the point is currently left unanswered and dead, but so was the win-lose situation last year...I believe that this team can really work something up even with Gonchar out. I really do. But right now, these Penguins have to keep there heads up. They don't ever give up even when you think they do.

I believe the Pittsburgh Penguins are a team that never leaves and even with Gonchar out at the moment, there is still some life left in the Steel City.
