Rainbow Marlins???
OK so in case some of you haven't heard, Maury Brown, who is president of the Business of Sports Network, has tweeted that he has gotten a look at the new Marlins logo. His thoughts?: "Rainbow-puke-a-rific" (direct quote)
According to Mr. Brown, the fish are planning on using using red, orange, yellow, blue, and green as the team's new color scheme. Now, I don't know about you guys, but I'm hoping that this is a joke. Then again, knowing how this organization doesn't give a damn about this team and its fans and how our owner is an art dealer (who is also responsible for that fruity HR celebration thing in center field) it certainly doesn't make me doubt that these rainbow colors may be the real deal.
Personally, I think the new colors should resemble the Carolina Panthers of the NFL: blue, black, silver, white (hell maybe even a "hint" of orange would be alright)... but red, yellow, and green?? come on now, for that just re-name the team the "Miami Clowns"; you'll lose alot of fans, but hey at least your color scheme would make sense.
Sorry Billy but it looks like Nemo over here is gonna be our new mascot...
Hopefully once November 11th comes around we find out that this was just a horrible joke and the new logo/uniforms are awesome, but until then I'll be praying that we don't soon become the laughing stock of the league.
Send Marlins to the All-Star Game
easy question: has everyone voted for the 2011 All-Star game yet??
the answer is probably no, seeing as how the ballot leaders were revealed the other day and so far we have no Marlin player in the top 5 at any position (that's right, ZERO!); that's unacceptable, we need to show some more support for our team.. especially when we have players like Gaby, LoMo, and Megatron putting up solid numbers so far this season.
I did my part (voted the max 25 times with 2 different email accounts), and I'll probably end up using most of my friends' emails to vote some more.
so rally the troops and go to http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/events/all_star/y2011/ballot.jsp?tcid=hpMW-asgballot-2011 and let's help send some fish to the desert dammit!!!
Marlins next manager?
The Marlins front office has begun searching for the next manager. I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on who you think will take over the reigns for the 2011 season. I like the job Edwin has done and believe he should definetly be considered to go at it with a healthy team and (hopefully) improved bullpen, but do you think our crappy owner will bring him back? Or do you think they'll go in a different direction and pursue someone else?
I know the biggest need is bullpen and catcher (IMO), and that it doesn't matter who takes over if the team doesn't address those needs first, but the fact remains that we still need a new skipper. So which manager do you think will lead us into the new stadium??
Pinto DFA
It is my pleasure to share the good news that Renyel Pinto has been FINALLY designated for assignment by the Marlins. I feel like that little kid who would ask for that really cool bike every year for Christmas and then one year wake to find it under the tree. (ok ok that may sound a little exaggerated but I have been wanting this to happen for quite some time now.
I'm sure many of you feel the same way, so I'm pleased to be bringing you such good news on this GREAT thrusday morning lol
D-Train back?
Do you guys think the Marlins should bring back Dontrelle Willis??
I'm all for this decision considering the team needs some lefty help out of the bullpen and maybe even another arm in the rotation when somebody needs a break. Plus I bet we would get him at a reasonable price. Willis was always one of my all-time favorite Marlins and I would love to have him come back home. Thoughts?
Adios Fredi?
How much longer do you think the organization is gonna keep Fredi around?. Personally I like the guy and I know he's not the worst coach out there or anything, but I just don't think he's a good fit for this team, I mean how many times have we seen a close game slip away from us because of mistakes. As a fan it sucks to see this, so I can only imagine how the players must feel actually going through it. We could do alot better with a coach who takes more chances and makes some smart decisions (basically the opposite of brininging in players like Pinto and Bonifacio into a game). IMO if he doesnt get replaced by mid-season, he will probably be let go in the offseason (and most likely manage the braves in 2011.... just sayin'). What do you guys think?
