Ben McLemore NBA Slam Dunk Contest 2014 Preview

1

Quick preview video I put together of Ben McLemore representing The Sacramento Kings in this years dunk contest. Its short partly because there arent too many slam dunks for McLemore (to fill a whole song at least) and because I wanted to get it out quick before the 2014 All Star Weekend. Anyways i hope ya'll enjoy the video. Go Kings

Report: Kings not interested in Cousins trade

12

The Kings new ownership group has "no intention of trading DeMarcus Cousins," a source told the Sacramento Bee. Fox Sports Ohio's Sam Amico reported through a source that the Mike Malone hire made Cousins a "goner," but that we'll take the team's beat reporter over a guy who is rarely actually around the Kings. Cousins is on his rookie deal and has a world of talent, and Malone's hire will be largely beneficial for Cousins' development. The Kings need Cousins and won't be in a rush to ship him anywhere. Chris Webber among stars making appearances at Thursday’s Sacramento Kings rally

"Former players joining Webber are Kings legend and new minority investor Mitch Richmond along with Scot Pollard and Bobby Jackson. The Kings current starting backcourt of Tyreke Evans and Isaiah Thomas will also be at tomorrow’s rally."

Donte Greene has signed to play in Puerto Rico

"Donte Greene has signed to play in Puerto Rico." --Although Greene worked out for a 'number' of NBA teams, he'll have to use the offseason to prove he's healthy and fight for a roster spot in someone's training camp.

Report: Celtics set to sign Terrence Williams

+

A source told the Boston Globe that Terrence Williams' 10-day contract with the Celtics is a "done deal." Interesting. Williams is reportedly just waiting for clearance and is already en route to join the Celtics. Talent has never been the issue for Williams, but before being cut in training camp by the Pistons, he had to accept a non-guaranteed contract and had played for three teams in just three years. The 2009 No. 11 overall pick will be an intriguing addition because he can play multiple positions for a banged-up Boston team. Source: Gary Washburn on Twitter Feb 18 - 11:12 AM E.T. -------------------- Just an update on Ex-King Terrence Williams, hope he does well in Boston.

Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie told reporters Thursday that he is committed to Darren McFadden as Oakland's starting tailback for 2013. Like coach Dennis Allen, McKenzie is attributing McFadden's 2012 struggles to simply being a poor system fit for outgoing OC Greg Knapp's zone-blocking scheme. "He's not a lateral mover," McKenzie said of McFadden's running style. The Raiders are expected to turn back to a power-blocking, gap-based running system in 2013. McFadden is owed a pricey $5.856 million base salary. Jan 17 - 5:17 PM ET Source: Jerry McDonald on Twitter

"According to the Commercial Appeal, no trade involving Rudy Gay is "imminent." The Grizzlies have reportedly engaged the Suns in trade talks and have also been linked to the Warriors and Kings. They're trying to dump Gay and his $37 million contract over the next two years in exchange for cap relief. The Commercial Appeal also notes that "there also is a growing belief within the organization that Gay's on-court performance doesn't justify his maximum salary." Expect talks to heat up around the Feb. 21 trade deadline. Related: Suns, Kings, Warriors Source: Memphis Commercial Appeal Jan 8 - 5:00 PM E.T." Teammates expect McFadden back this week- Darren McFadden's (ankle) teammates reportedly expect him to return this week. McFadden hasn't practiced since he sustained a high-ankle sprain in Week 9. The Raiders haven't provided many details on his status, but his teammates apparently have seen good progress. If DMC can get back on the field by Wednesday, it's reasonable to think he could see action in Sunday's game against the Browns. Owners that have been riding Marcel Reece for the last three weeks need to have backup plans on tap. Source: San Francisco Chronicle Nov 26 - 11:48 AM

Chiefs to start Quinn over Cassel at quarterback

+

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Brady Quinn will take over as the Kansas City Chiefs' starting quarterback and Matt Cassel will serve as the backup beginning with Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders. Chiefs coach Romeo Crennel made the announcement before Monday's practice, shortly after meeting with the team that is off to a miserable 1-5 start. Both quarterbacks were informed of the change earlier in the day.....

KINGS HOME VENUE TO BECOME SLEEP TRAIN ARENA SACRAMENTO, CALIF., Oct. 15, 2012 -- The Sacramento Kings and Sleep Train Mattress Centers today announced a new, multi-year strategic marketing partnership to include venue naming rights for the Sacramento Kings home arena, host to hundreds of events annually—headlined by NBA basketball, high-profile concerts, family-themed shows and cultural experiences. "On behalf of the entire Sacramento Kings organization, we are thrilled to partner with Sleep Train," said Kings President of Business Operations Matina Kolokotronis. "We're particularly excited to align with a locally owned company built on 27 years of customer satisfaction, a stellar reputation among consumers and business leaders, and an unwavering commitment to community involvement."

Jimmer Fredette on book tour, remains same humble guy

8

Jimmer Fredette said that he's "mentally" more prepared for the NBA entering his sophomore season. Fredette has worked "extensively" on both ends of the floor and has "worked to create space and get his shot off quicker," in addition to working on his pick-and-roll game. Jimmer is working on everything as he looks to secure a spot in the Kings rotation, but he's going to have to show a lot more than he did in his rookie season to earn that role. Francisco Garcia "is available (in a trade) and has been for some time," according to Hoopsworld's Steve Kyler. ------------------ Garcia has a $6.1 million salary in 2012-13 and then a team option for $6.4 million in 2013-14, so he's essentially an expiring contract for a team that wouldn't want to keep him beyond this year. However, we can't imagine there is much of a market for him due to his consistent battles with injuries and his subpar 2011-12 season when he averaged just 4.8 points and 2.0 rebounds on 37.6 percent shooting in 16 minutes per game. Scott Howard Cooper- For the Kings, small steps but a long, long way still to go

16

NBA.com article on the kings by Scott Howard Cooper Some Quotes... "With DeMarcus Cousins and a solid offseason in tow, the Kings can finally start to crack a smile" "The decisions in the draft (Robinson) and free agency (Brooks) were direct hits for two positions in need of upgrades, power forward and point guard" That's a good beginning. The problem is, the Kings remain behind despite several years head start on most of their playoff-challenged opponents. They can't shoot, don't get stops or rebound on the defensive end and lack the intangibles of leadership and coaching stability. They need a lot more than a beginning." "They remain an organization in search of stability in every way. The roster gains have been excruciatingly slow for a fan base that wants to fall in love again. Management and coaching has offered little reason to believe lately."

Pacers sign free agent G/F Gerald Green on Thursday. This news came directly from Kevin Pritchard on Twitter, so we're assuming he signed a three-year deal worth about $10 million, but we should know more later. The Pacers passed on Green to take Danny Granger in the 2005 draft and the two will now be playing together. Green was a very pleasant surprise in New Jersey last season, averaging 13 points and 1.4 3-pointers in 31 games, despite signing two 10-day contract. The agent for restricted free agent Nicolas Batum told Blazers GM Neil Olshey not to contact his client during negotiations. CSNNW's Chris Haynes has done an excellent job tracking this story, which needless to say hasn't gotten nearly enough attention. Batum's agent, Bouna Ndiaye, has been at odds with Blazers management ever since they reportedly low-balled the rising star on an extension last season. We've cautioned folks not to set it in stone that Batum will stay, and with each passing report his once favorable odds head toward a coin flip. Source: CSNNE.com Jun 29 - 3:02 PM

The Kings will not extend a qualifying contract offer to Terrence Williams, making him an unrestricted free agent. T-Will was serviceable in a reserve role when he landed in Sacramento last season and it's a mild surprise that he won't be back with the team. The No. 11 pick from the 2009 draft class will now look to prove that he can stick with a team after going landing on three different rosters since coming into the NBA. When asked what position suits him best, Tyreke Evans said that he's better when he has the ball in his hands. "It doesn't really matter but if it was my decision I think I'm better with the ball in my hands but I did a good job of learning how to play the three spot, even though that is not my natural position," he said. Evans finished his quote by reiterating that he's better with the ball in his hands, and it certainly doesn't sound as if he was thrilled about having to play off the ball. This should do absolutely nothing to cool off trade rumors involving Evans this summer. Source: Sportsradiointerviews.com Jun 18 - 12:14 PM ET
